Hi all,
Was looking for a sound effect to separate clips in CAGcast episode 200, and that made me think of something. What's your favourite and most iconic sound effect from a video game EVER? Mine might be the Mario Death clip, but then again, I haven't played that many games.

Also, if you want to, please suggest a clip that you would like to separate clips with in CAGcast episode 200, it needs to be short and I may use it in the audio editing!

I'm partial to the Commodore 64 SID chip and all the awesome sounds that it made.

As far as iconic sounds...

Final Fantasy battle victory tune
Zelda found a secret
Metal Gear Solid incoming codec message - This is my incoming txt message sound on my cell.

Hmm, had never heard either of those, but went and listened to them both and really liked Final Fantasy's fanfare. The MGS one didnt seem that iconic to me, but maybe it was the first time you played it.

BTW, For Verizon cell users.

- Take any sound file in .wav format. I get my sounds and clips from vgmusic.com

- Attach the .wav file to an email, and email it to [email protected]. Replace the 10 digits with your cellphone number, or the number of any verizion user you want to send to.

- Your phone will blow up saying you have a picture message. Click on options and select 'Save as Ringtone'.

- The file is now on your phone suitable for selection as a ringtone, txt message indicator, or any other alert you want it to be.

This has been around for years, but I'm always surprised by how few people know about it.

Don't ever pay money for ringtones!

My phone is retro gaming nerdvana. I have Super Mario bros, Contra, Metal Gear, Final Fantasy, Zelda, etc. I give most of my friends individual ringtones and txt tones.

My wife's ringtone is the Final Fantasy Crystal theme, or whatever that ascending/descending song is called.

I swear, sometimes I'll watch a movie and hear a sound and think "OH MY GOD, THAT WAS THE DOOR OPENING SOUND IN DOOM 2" or something like that.
