Game is unplayble.
Hello i bought the game today. On the summers sale. And so far i have only negative experience:

- Hungarian campaign is unplayble. Redicilous size map that causes enourmous lag that i could never beat the Bulgarians or the Pechenegs. At some point the game lag become insane.

- No Lobbies from EU - ok mb i play in the night and there is no one in Europe region but any other game i join the latency is a disaster. People could not play and all and only try to save and exit with no success of fixing the lag.

- Hotkeys does not make sense. Long time ago i used to click B then F for Farm. Now it's A/A and some other changes that are confusing.

- Strange bugs. Overlaping buildings. On the hungarian campaign i build a tower and then i tried to add a barrack next to it. I misclicked and the game accepted my mistake - the villager builded over the tower and i had a tower inside a barrack.

- Bad AI - after i could not play any campaigns or multyplayer i tried bots with the conquerors AI - i did not try the new one. I remember old AOE 2 bots really challenging but here they are just stupid. I look forward to test the new id... but let's face it guys. If i wanna play vs computers i will install my old AGE 2 collection and wont waste 13 euro for nothing...

1. if you cant handle a large map you have two choices 1. buy an ok pc 2. read the minamle requirments first
A NASA pc, you mean.
Even the best pcs (with high ram, ssd, good videocard) lags with AOK:HD. Not to mention the multiplayer lag and some scenario crashes/bugs.

You can set the hotkeys as you want...

I love how these things take around 5 comments for people to take it personally.

But seriously, regarding the OP, personally I've never had lag offline and I use a pretty low-end laptop so I would hazard a guess and say you should check your settings both in and out of game and in the case you have updates disabled, see if there are any updates you missed as they released one today that may have addressed your particuler issue about buildings (don't quote me on that, search it yourself).

Regarding lobbies, I can't help there as I only play with my friends as I like to know the people who hand my ass to me.

As for the AI, it seems there are some others making comments on the AI currently, so that might actually be something that requires an investigation of sorts but they seemed to me to be the same AI who can destroy me in under 20 minutes if they so chose to.

And as two previous post have said, you can set your own hotkeys so at least that's something 100% valid.

So yeah, gist of the message, everythings fine on my end so I can only recommend you check your settings and if you seriously dislike the game, at least you bought it on sale...

The Ludakris map size seems to have a memory leak or something. It starts out fine then eventually lags horribly then crashes the game for me. Nothing else causes similar problems. The rest of the game is smooth.

Maybe people in the EU aren't playing because the World Cup is on. That's why I haven't been playing :P Go Germany!

Uh, no. This game runs fine in Wine on a beyond junky 2005 Gateway laptop my brother got from an e-waste recycling bin and installed LinuxMint on. Probably because it's got an Intel CPU. Maybe if the "best PCs" have AMD processors, they'll lag.

I don't know guys. About the Hungarian campaign i tried almost everything. Shut down all the programs, disabled vsync and 3D water, but when it happens the aid the Byzanituims vs the Bulgarians it's just become unplayble from lag. I'm having AMD based system, i guess this must be the reason.

I have completed Hungarian campaign, but the last step was very tough, because of lags and overpowered AI (Slaws produce troops from 8-10 buildings simultaneously.

You're joking, don't you? Whats "runs fine" for you?
If runs fine means with low fps and a laggy screen-scroll, and crashing some scenarios that AOK (default) doesn't crashes, ok. But no, it doesn't runs fine - Just take a look into the default AOK and there you'll see that this 15 old game runs smoother than the lazy-made HD version, from 2014.

Then you don't know what lag means... Have you ever scrolled the screen in a quite-large map to see how it doesn't lags?
Not to mention the additional bugs and etc. And also, a good game need a stable singleplayer and multiplayer, not only one of them, but neither AOK:HD have.

My game works fine, no lag, good multiplayer and i have a awful amd computer.

We are aware that some users experience issues in the largest map size (only the new free campaign uses it).

Regarding multiplayer, currently the AoF and base lobby are separate. I'd suggest switching to the base game and checking multiplayer there, you are likely to see a higher number of games. We are looking into ways to combine lobbies to avoid the confusion.

Finally please do not launch personal attacks here.

Check that your computer can run the game at systemrequirementslab.com I'd recommend the java option which will take a look at your PC to learn its specs (it may ask you to confirm with security, trust me, the site is legit), then compare those to the game. If you're experiencing heavy lag, then perhaps your computer isn't up to it. If it does meet the requirements, it may be something different.

Congratulations. You, like me, fell into their scam.
