Calculating the exact shipping costs for Ebay items are a pain, so I think I should buy a scale where I can weigh and measure the exact specs of every item I sell. Know where I can get one of these, and how much they go for?

I got one at Staples or Office Depot. I think it was $20 at the time, but that was a while ago and with a quick search it looks like they are going for around $40 on those sites. However, I would recommend one if you send a lot of stuff out as it makes it so easy. I print labels through Paypal and package stuff up at home. No waiting at the PO.

Oh? You never have to go to the post office? Can you list the steps you take? I would love nothing more than to bypass them forever.

As for the weighing scale, what about a digital scale for people (my sister has one)? Would that work as well, or are the ones in Staples/Office Depot more accurate?

Ironically, I bought one for myself off of ebay. If you are interested, if you sign up for stamps.com, they will send you one for free.

Also, to that other guy, a people scale wont work. That's nowhere near accurate enough, because you need to know how many ounces.

Done.

Just print out the label either using plain paper and tape, or buy adhesive paper (i use tape). It saves me a lot of time as there is a dropoff box in the complex where i work that goes straight to the airport. Only thing that sucks is that if you sell to canada, even if you print out all the customs forms, you still gotta get an endorsement from the people at the post office (which means waiting on lines), so dont bother wasting ink on canada labels/forms.

Depending on the size of an item, just use flat rate boxes/envelopes, too. Makes life a hell of a lot easier. That's normally what I use for shipping things like games and guides, and the boxes work well when selling books.
