I heard that sony was discontinuing production of the extended battery. Do any of you know if that is true? I'm thinking about getting a PSP in the near future, so I was wondering if I should be on the lookout for these? If this is true, do you think we'll be seeing any kind of a clearance or mark down on them? I've already gotten a battery charger and an AC adapter for cheap from Kmart and TRU, so I thought I should look into a better battery for once I do get a PSP.

I decided to go on a little hunt for one of those packs today. I finally found one at Sears. I picked up one of the last two they had. It was still $40, but I hadn't seen it anywhere else or any cheaper. I think I might have seen one at my gamecrazy a couple days a go, but I can't remember for sure. I doubt it was any cheaper, if it was there.

Now, I just need to find a good deal on a used PSP.

Yeah, but I question what the trade-off might be, given Sony's redesigned the 3000's battery port completely to disallow homebrew, pandora, etc. Will the redesigned extended battery work as well with the 2000 as it does the 3000? Historically, that hasn't been the case before, despite Sony's reassurances this time.

I picked one up at Sears today for $40 too. Surprised they are still on the shelves, but I guess Sears is the last place people think of for video game stuff. Glad to have found this since I have a silver slim and needed that battery cover to go with it. It's not anywhere near as bulky as I thought it would be either. The Sears in Frisco, TX has one left if anyone in the area is looking for it.
