I took advantage of the deal on the site last week.  It worked like a charm and, with PayPal, I'm sure my financial info is safe.

And there's nothing to download that's not already vetted by Steam (although the stupid Uplay is mandatory, but that's a Ubisoft thing).

i just bought with paypal, and activated on my steam account!  Worked fine.  Hopefully my identity has not been stolen.

I think those versions are Uplay and not Steam though, if that matters at all.  For your father in law, I doubt it matters

Yeah I ended up biting, had to mess with the mic levels in Windows recording mixer to get my 360 cable to be recognized by Rocksmith as plugged into the guitar, but no problems after that.
