That is a fairly interesting set of considerations--maybe we can take a stab at going through how the impacted our decision making. I'll go first, instead of a 5 point scale I'll just note whether each was a positive, negative or irrelevant influence.
Price--Negative as the X1 is $100 more and I don't see that added value for myself since I'm not into Kinect or the media stuff.
Exclusive Games- Negative. I love Halo and Gears, but I like Sony's more varied exclusives more.
Graphics- Irrelevant. Despite spec differences I don't expect major graphics differences, and I'm not really a graphic's whore anyway.
Controller Design-Postive. The DS4 looks much better than the DS3. But I much preferred the 360 controller this gen, and I still like offset analog sticks to side by side ones.
Hardware Specs-negative--but only slightly. But reportedly lesser specs for gaming related stuff for $100 doesn't thrill me. But see my comment on graphics, mostly irrelevant as I don't expect to see a ton of difference when all is said and done.
Storage Space-Irrelevant. Don't both have 500GB. Plus I have plenty of space left on my 250gb 360 and 320gb PS3. I don't get a ton of digital stuff outside of PS+ freebies. And have no issues deleting stuff when done as I seldom replay and can always redownload.
Digital Download Speed-Postive with a caveat--I got much faster speeds on my 360 than my PS3 that is plugged into the same router. But we don't know if this will change, and some Sony interviews have said they've changed things to improve download speeds, and people say the speeds are much faster on Vita so it could have been more a PS3 hardware issue than a PSN server issue. So time will tell.
Bluray Compatibility-Irrelevant for two reasons. First, both can do it. Second, I have, and prefer, using as stand alone bluray player. Quieter, uses less power, and less wear and tear on more expensive game consoles now that good standalone players like the Sony S-590 I have are around $100.
Online Games-Mostly irrelevant. I do have more friends with 360s this gen. But I mostly quit online gaming other than some co-op with my future brother and law. And he canceled his X1 preorder to go PS4 as me and most of his other gaming friends are jumping ship to Sony.
Indie Game support- Negative as Sony is being much more indie friendly and will get more games, and I want to start checking out more indie stuff to get more variety
Used Game Fees-Negative initially. Moot now. Still don't like that it was a possibility they were trying to push/leave up to publishers.
Ability to Sell Your Games- Huge negative initially. I don't replay games or collect games. I think most games are not worth near their asking price even after price drops. So being able to sell on Amazon after beating is a big thing for me. Moot now, but still don't like that they tried to limit this.
DRM- Huge negative initially--but same as above with one additional comment.... Didn't care about possible share plans as it's just me in the home, and I wouldn't share my account info with any of my gaming friends or CAGs etc.
Backwards Compatibility-Negative, but for both since neither have it. Would love to trade my 360 and PS3 and still be able to work on those backlogs on whichever next gen console I went with. I'll be able to ditch my 360 by fall for sure, PS3 I'll probably keep around another year or so past PS4 launch to finish up during gaps between PS4 AAA games I want.
Streaming Video Content-Irrelevant. The worthwhile apps will be on both, and I much prefer using my DVD player and other gadgets for this.
Communicating with Family and Friends-Irrelevant. That's what my phone, e-mail and facebook are for. And other than my future brother in law, I don't really have any friends that game other than one who's only gaming on PC (which I don't play). And he'll probably go PS4 too if he gets as console next gen.
Streaming Audio Content- Irrelevant. I used Last FM a handful of times when working on the couch. But then noticed I had a pandora app on my DirecTV DVR and started using that. Now I mostly use Spotify that I pay for, and just listen on PC or my iPhone/iPad. Or the Roku app at my girlfriend's place.
Second Screen Functionality-Irrelevant. Just don't see much use in this stuff from what I've seen from smartglass this gen and what they've shown thus far for X1.
Direct Social Network Functionality-Irrelevant. No interest in streaming my gaming shit. 99% of people on there wouldn't care. And just makes me look like I'm slacking off all the time to co-workers when I have a job that requires long hours, working at home etc. (which is why I'm dicking around on cag more than playing games!).
Camera Functionality--Huge negative as I've said repeatedly. I loathe motion controls, don't like it always on and sucking power, and just have no use for it cluttering up my already too busy TV set up.
Voice Commands-Negative. No interest in using them to control media stuff, and hate them in games. Just feel dumb talking to my TV, and noise is a problem since I game a lot at night and live in a condo that's not very good from a sound proofing standpoint. Even when I move to a house, still have to keep it down to not bug my fiancee if she's trying to sleep or working late (which is more likely as she's a night owl).
Think I got them all.
