The link to download DI Riptide from the main page goes to the Natural Selection 2 hub.

... Which is a better game. They are trying to tell you something

SfxT is a steal at that price if it's anywhere near as good as the console version. Very tempted to buy it, but trying not to. I highly recommend Dead Island Riptide. One of the most fun zombie games around.

Wow I must REALLY REALLY suck at dead island, I probably spent 15 hours before even getting to the second area... Or is this timing for the second one?

Yeah, that's the second one.

I have spent a good chunk on the first one though. If you try to do all the side quests before moving on and try to catch all the sort of hidden ones it can take you a while before moving on in areas. If you just go by the main quests it sort of speeds you past some of the stuff. I've been taking my time. I'm in the second area now and it's hard as hell sometimes, but I am enjoying it.

Dysfunctional Systems Steam keys are available if you got it from Groupees.

You have to link your Desura account to their store to get it. Instructions can be found here:

http://www.desura.com/games/dysfunctional-systems-learning-to-manage-chaos/news/dischan-desura-integration

When you're done with that, click here:

Thanks, was able to get my steam key easy. If anyone would like Dysfunctional Systems, I have one desura key left over not used. PM if you would like it.

Edit: Gone

Cool, will probably buy Dead Island Riptide from our friend in the Steam trading thread. Will give the free trial a shot first. I really enjoyed the first game even tho it was rough around the edges. I hated the DLC episode tho.

Looks like we have some complaining to do.

Anyone want to start a shitstorm?

Is there anything stopping you from plowing through Dead Island over the weekend for free and just being done with it?

Oh I guess that's why there was discussion on the length of the game, duh.

I think I will try to accomplish this, since the games have intrigued me just enough that I'd play through it for free, but probably wouldn't ever end up buying. 11 hours or so isn't impossible, though I already feel like I'll wind up getting 3/4 of the way through and run out of time.

thanks, got my steam key ;) and finally got Steam working again (stupid ass keyboard driver was the culprit) Unfortunately, I tried the fixes from Valve, and now I'm locked out of the Steam market for 15 days because Valve thinks I'm on a new computer. :(

It depends how quickly you play the game and if you play with other people. Playing by myself, I played a total of 9 hours. I was able to beat the game, do all the side quests, and mop up a few other achievements. I think playing with other people would make that time even lower depending on how focused you are on beating the game.

I spent a ton of time on the first game, at only $7 through regional pricing I think I'd rather pay the money and take my time than rush through it. I don't want to take a whole weekend away from playing GTA 5 either.

According to Steam I played Dead Island for 50 hours.

Ew, just did some reading and it sounds like this game is worse than the original. I would have been fine with more of the same, but not sure about worse... guess the free trial will help me decide.

fuck yeah! Level 5 choo choo badge, coming right up.
This might be a bit tougher than you think.

The developer decided hey, new game. So everyone's achievements got wiped. That's not all, some of the achievements are now tied to specific DLC that you need to buy.

Unless the dev restores everyone's achievements somehow, I don't expect them to stay relevant since they pissed off a majority of their userbase.

Seems like all achievements are tied to DLC included in 2014 version, so if you want earn any achievements you must rebuy. (or buy the DLC)

Back when it was in that Indieroyale they said they would try to provide Steam keys. The fact that the game was on greenlight was a part of the marketing for that bundle. There's not really any sort of excuse, here.

Yeah, I saw that and was disappointed. It was part of a "Debut Bundle" and even on Indie Royale's site says, "As with all our Debut bundles; the developers will make Steam keys available to people who've bought the game through us if they pass Greenlight and get accepted onto Steam."

I'm of the same thought process if Dead Island Riptide is pretty much the same game as Dead Island just with some new set pieces. I'd be inclined to have fun with it, but not at a breakneck speed though. Plus, I'm too into State of Decay to jump into DI:R this weekend. I might bite at $7.50 from our friendly CAG go to guy as well.

Considering October is coming up, I do wonder if Steam will have some kind of Halloween themed weekly or weekend sale. As there isn't a shortage of apocalyptic, zombie, mutant, thriller type games on Steam. Although, a drop from 66% off to 75% off might be assuming too much from Deep Silver.

Haha, according to Steam I've played DI for 51 hours. Nice! *virtual high-five*

Another great game has snuck onto steam

http://store.steampowered.com/app/243000/

david bowie, terrible graphics, fighting game mechanics, astral projection.... this game has it all
I won this on GOG in some contest/giveaway someone had.

I been meaning to play this game.

Now, if only we could convince Sony and Quantic Dream to bring to the Heavy Rain to the PC.

Same goes for Beyond: Two Souls, as well.

Hey, I can dream, right? ;)

It wasn't in one of the debut bundles. It was over a year ago in the Back to School Bundle. At the time, steam keys for games that got them was still in question for many bundle sites; the twitter chatter I posted above seemed to answer the question on this particular game.

Yeah, saw my mistake and deleted my post. Mixed it up with that Croixleur game for some reason.

What do you guys think of Street Fighter x Tekken with all the DLC for $20ish? Worth it?
Look at videos of the dlc characters and costumes to see if you even like any of them. Everybody I know prefers to use characters from the base game and just bought costumes for the one or 2 characters that they use.

The other problem is that you can't rebuy the game, currently.

Unlike previous versions, Steam doesn't show Train Simulator 2014 as a bundle of the base game+routes+locos; it's just Train Simulator 2014. Which means that, as part of the upgrade process, owners of Train Sim '13 cannot buy (or activate a gift code of) Train Sim '14. To get the same base content, previous owners have to buy all of that as separate DLC packages, which are much more expensive and very rarely see the huge discounts the base game gets every year (usually during the Summer Sale).

The developers are working with Valve for a solution to this issue, but I'm really surprised that they launched without a real upgrade option.

HELL YES @ FREE Weekend of Dead Island: Riptide!!! :D

I'll be playing, for sure!

I loved Dead Island (Original).

I just wish it had better story-telling & characters. I really wish would've been better at that stuff, like the original "Backwards" trailer was looking like it was implying.

Of course, it only did decent story-telling and character development, once and a full moon.

But, even w/ DI turning out to be an inverted Borderlands game (an ARPG w/ melee weapons & zombie focus) - I had a blast w/ that game and I know it's my favorite zombie game.

Yeah, when was this? I've never heard of this before. MysterD, please elaborate.
I've mentioned it more times than I can shake a stick at. ;)

And I'm sure y'all can google a search for "MysterD" and "TSW" and "$5.25" and get 1,000,000 hits.

Can't believe it was thought to be a "historical low" for TSW was $9.99 on Steam. ;)

Maybe the Steam-version was that low, but other versions been cheaper. ;)

If you want to read about TSW $5.25 from someone else other than I, check THIS post in the GMG Thread - back when it actually happened. ;)

EDIT:

To humor y'all - here's me mentioned TSW has been $5.25 before. ;)

Glad you are enjoying SoD. I too decided not to speed through Riptide. I've been taking my time in DI and enjoying and between that and SoD I think I'll just wait for a bigger price drop on DI to take my time.

He was probably quoting the historical low from Enhanced Steam which pulls it's information from here: http://isthereanydeal.com/#/page:game/price?plain=secretworld

Was it a price mistake?

I listed the steam version so obviously that is what the lowest price applies to. Even if other versions have been cheaper it would be inaccurate to list them.
