Back on the subject of taxes...

If you don't currently have ND listed as your state for all gaming networks, you're doing it wrong. ND is the only state in the US that has an actual law on the books prohibiting sales tax for digital goods. I live in ND as far as PSN, XBL, Steam and Origin are concerned. No tax. There are a few other states that are cool like this too, but ND is the only one with an actual law that strictly prohibits the charing of sales tax for digital goods.

It's really easy on 3DS too, all you need is a zip code in the eShop. On PSN and XBL I had to use an actual fake addresses. eShop just asks for a zip code, which has nothing to do with your actual profile address on file, or Club Nintendo, or credit card on file, etc. It's literally just for the sales tax. Paying sales tax for digital games is for suckers. ;)

ND (where I actually do live and have for 30 years, not just for tax purposes) has a lot of crap laws, too, and useless legislators.

If you say you live in ND and don't, it's tax evasion. There is very little likelihood they'll catch you, but maybe you should just pay your sales tax instead.

Edit: Sorry if that came off as cranky or judgmental, but I'm playing A Link to the Past and am at the second to last dungeon, wondering 1) How the hell did I ever beat this as a kid and, 2) if I even like this ****ing game any more.

I enjoyed Revelations, especially the online mercenaries mode. Is Mercenaries worth a pick up at $10 then? Tempted.
Raid Mode in Revelations is completely different from the Mercenaries modes in RE 4/5 that the 3ds Mercenaries game is based on. Whereas Raid Mode is sort of a coop version of the campaign broken into stages, Mercenaries is sort of more of an arena mode where you fight enemies, try to survive until the time limit ends while killing enemies to boost your score, collect power ups to extend your time limit (in order to kill more enemies and increase your score/grade), etc... The 3DS version does remix the mercenaries gameplay into stages with more diverse goals...and a few boss stages thrown in for good measure, though...and it IS worth a pick up at $10, in my opinion.

I'm a fool, I forgot it was called Raid Mode. I've actually played all the above games with Mercenaries, mostly 4 though. Does the 3DS one have upgrades to characters and etc. Does it feel like a full game in other words?

Thoughts on Mercenaries/Revelations?

I know Revelations has an HD remake so I MIGHT go with that one instead. Is Mercenaries worth $9.99?

Here's another.  Is Revelations worth playing if you haven't played a Resident Evil since 2, didn't finish 2, and thought the first was a big pile of crap and don't play much survival horror or shooty games anyway?  (I liked that Gamecube game.  Eternal Darkness?  That game was awesome.  This doesn't look much like that though.)

There are unlocks and equipable/upgradable skills and things like that. It really takes stages from the RE 4/5 Mercenaries and uses them in a mission-based setting. Like some missions require you to kill so many enemies...or some are more like the standard mercenaries "score high and survive until time runs out" gameplay...and some are more like "survive all the waves of enemies"... And there are a few boss battle stages. So I guess they tried to make it into a full game...but there's no real story or anything that I can recall. It's still sort of an arena battle type game that's probably best enjoyed in short bursts...but with a little more variety, progressive stages, unlockables, skills, etc.

Is Revalations worth playing if I don't have and don't intend to get a Circle Pad Pro? I hear it's great 3DS game and that price is awful tempting.
Some people complain about it, but I played through the whole thing without a circle pad pro and didn't miss it one bit. Didn't even find myself thinking about it or wishing it was there. The camera was good enough that it just seemed natural without it. When I played through the HD version later with a dualshock, the experience didn't really feel much different having a second analog stick.

It's kind of hard to say. It's nothing like Eternal Darkness. It's a solid game and one of the more impressive titles on the 3ds. But ya...if you thought the early Resident Evil games sucked, and you don't like "shooty" games (which some of the later RE games, especially 5, sort of started getting into), it might be a bit hard to recommend this since it's sort of a hybrid of those two styles of Resident Evil gameplay.

Thank you! Yeah, probably not for me, then.

I think I got Unchained Blades for $10 or less from PSN. I'll get around to playing it on my Vita. Shame the 3DS won't honor my purchase.

"Look, I already bought your game once, in a different format. That means I own it no matter how many times you re-release it."

Write to Sony and tell them to send a few bucks from your purchase on PSN to Nintendo. I am sure it will all work out! ... ;/

I think I bought it on 3DS first ($30!! yeesh, only for Atlus, dno what I was thinking), played a few hours and enjoyed it a lot, and then the Vita version was on sale for $10 or something.  can't resist a bargain and thought "gee, it's probably better on Vita anyway".

Now I will spend hours playing them both at the same time trying to decide which is best, and then it'll go in my backlog and I'll replay Final Fantasy IV instead.

So, I guess that $24.99 apparently turned out to be the permanent price for Zero Escape.  Freakin' Aksys tricked me into rushing to buy it before September 3.

blew  7 bucks tonight

Planet crashers  okay i guess for 4.99   will go into my backlog  (probally should of waited to see if it fell to 250 on sale)

3d 55 game collection or whatever its called   for  2 bucks  normal 6       awful game    its somethingi do waiting for the car to get fixxed maybe but  would rather have  my 2 bucks back..

hopefully bettter sales  thursday

No new deals this week.

Sort of related is that I got a StreetPass from somebody whose latest game was 3D Game Collection, which was a surprising thing to see.

You'll always have to use pay cards/codes to fund your purchases then as using a credit/debit card will come up with an error when the address on the card doesn't match the address on your account.

I'm confused.

(Edit: by post above previous post.  I was going to just delete my post, but I can't figure out how anymore!  I'm like an old man, baffled by change and technology.)

I got a Streetpass at work today from a co-worker who has been playing "Imagine Babies".

Big burly man with no children. I couldn't talk to him and keep a straight face.

So this Planet Crashers racket.  It always comes up under "RPGs" when I do a filtered search (why I periodically search for RPGs, who knows), but it got reviews so mediocre that I never really think about it.

Any thoughts? (so others can do my thinking for me)

I think you mean "Babiez". :) Baffling. I wonder what kind of sales games like that get. Must be pretty decent; they're sure made a lot of them in the "Z" series.

How much do those DLC usually cost and which/any worth it?  I got SMTIV day 1 for the collector's edition but it went to the backlog...

very very very basic dungon crawler with just fetch quest (like get ball from first floor of red dungon (only can only take one quest at at time so even though there is like 5 items you need to get you have to get the first one report it accept the 2nd one go allt he way back pick up the item report it go all the way back and repeat repeat repeat.

you need 300 exp every time to level up and many monsters only give like 5 to 10 xp per win meaning it took me around 2 hours just to get to level 4. the first 2 hours your going to be running in and out just to heal cause you are only hitting for like 20 damage when the monsters have 150 to 200 HP

got it the first night and played it 3 hours never played it again ..

i say wait till 2.50 sale

Thanks, that sounds kind of awful! I want more RPGs, but probably not that one. :p

Here are the new deals for this week:

2 Fast 4 Gnomz - $2.99 - 40% Off - Ends 11/27

Monster Shooter - $3.00 - 57% Off - Ends 11/21

My Farm 3D - $6.99 - 13% Off - Ends 12/5

And of course, SMTIV will still be on sale for four more days.

OK, I'll admit it:  I bought the "cheat" DLC.  Don't have the time for gaming I used to and usually use gamesharks with most RPG's just to speed them along/reduce grinding so this should be about equivalent haha.

It's fair enough, really. I got the AC I, II, and Brotherhood on Steam ages ago. I'm really interested in IV, so I guess to tide me over, I'm playing the ones I already have. Wouldn't mind a fast-track through them now, though. Probably gonna have to skip the first one.

So anyway, while I cherish every minute with something like SMT IV, I do not cherish every minute of Assassin's Creed and would kind of like the Cliff's Notes version.

So, update that I haven't seen posted here:

Atlus Sale

11/11 - 11/18

Etrian Odyssey IV: Legends of the Titan - $19.99 - 33% off

Code of Princess - $19.99 - 33% off

Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers - $19.99 - 33% off

http://www.nintendo.com/eshop/offers

Nintendo has announced a series of sales based on beloved characters/IP over the next four weeks, which covers The Legend of Zelda, Mega Man, Mario, and Donkey Kong.

Starting tomorrow, they're putting The Legend of Zelda games on the eShop:

The Legend of Zelda - $3.49 - 30% Off

The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX - $3.99 - 33% Off

Zelda II: The Adventures of Link - $3.49 - 30% Off

A Zelda SALE and still no Link to the Past on either VC, with what is essentially a sequel coming out this month. I don't get it.
Well, it's on the Wii VC... :) I don't get the fervor over them re-releasing stuff. Is this going to happen each console generation, re-releasing the same VC games over and over to fanfare? Selling the same games over and over...

And the 3DS has no SNES games, sadly... :(

I actually just played through Zelda 1, 2, A Link to the Past and Link's Awakening this year. I have no idea how I beat them as a kid; I have no idea how I beat Zelda 2 now (definitely didn't beat that one as a kid). Ocarina of Time's less-punishing difficulty is quite refreshing. I was especially surprised how hard Zelda 3 was. I sure don't remember it being hard, but there are a few dungeons that would have sent me to Miiverse to whine and be told that I suck. :)
