This thread has been replaced by TSDT v11

Daily Deal:
Please check the Steam homepage.

Weeklong Deals:
Steam usually has week-long deals that change on Mondays at 6PM UTC. They mostly feature indie games, and may not run every week.

Sale summary lists:

Key:
⤷ indicates DLC, — specifies part of a pack, + shows alternative versions, ⚠ highlights things worth knowing, ♫ is obvious, and ... denotes a multi-pack.

Holiday Sale 2013 | 19/12/13 through 3/1/14:
Days 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12, 13-14.

Spring/Autumn Sale 2013 | 27/11/13 through 3/12/13:
All days.

Steam deals on other stores: (Related threads on CAG.)

Indie* bundle threads: (*Not always indie, nor always a bundle.)

Free stuff:
There are quite a few free games (mostly Free to Play) and mods available via the Steam platform, a comprehensive list of which can be found in this thread on the SPUF.
(NOTE: free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.)

Why do I not backlog more stuff on PS3? Two reasons: 1) a lot of previously console-exclusive stuff is starting to show up on PCs and 2) I prefer gaming on my PC. It's just gotten to a point where I almost have to force myself to go in the living room to play a Playstation game, which is both sad and a little pathetic when I think about how my wife bought me a copy of The Last of Us for my birthday this year and it's still untouched because I haven't finished Uncharted 3, which my mother bought me for my birthday last year.
If you've seen a commercial for Uncharted 3, and who hasn't at this point, you've seen every key point in the game... The story isn't really well done, where the others have done a nice job with avoiding plot holes and being really well thought out, UC3 just doesn't feel that way.. Its just crap connected together for the next set piece. I got my monies worth out of it, (mostly MP but I could go on for hours about its issues) but it was the second biggest disappointment this generation.

The Last of Us... I haven't done it yet, it just so goes against my gaming beliefs, but I feel the best way to play the "game" is on a well edited Lets Play youtube video.. I gave up around 8 hours in... Its amazing looking, the characters are really well done but the game stuff... Just half baked and poorly done in too many cases. My copy went to Amazon a month or so ago for trade bait.

As for BF deals on systems...

If its going to be hard to pull yourself from the PC I recommend a portable system just on principle.

EDIT: PS Would someone tell the New England Patriots that they have a football game to play tonight... This shit is getting annoying.

Yeah, Uncharted 3 is the worst in the series IMO. I liked Uncharted 1 more than 3. 2 is obviously the best, and you could probably skip the third if you wanted to.

I too got my moneys worth out of it.. considering I got it free from a subway contest ;)

I don't have the patience to beg; it's so much easier to just buy everything ;)

If you bought the Groupees Wadjet Eye bundle, Indie Royale Charity bundle, or Bundle in a Box Adventure bundle, you can get a Steam key for The Shivah by sending an email to [email protected] with your purchase receipt (I used my paypal receipt and got a key in a day). Not sure if it's been mentioned here yet.

I assume for the Bundle in a Box you would've had to BTA for The Shivah, so I guess you have to prove that.

I might be in the minority, but I kind of liked Uncharted 3 just because it was part of the series. Some of the large set pieces were actually pretty cool (i.e. The Ship Graveyard comes to mind). I completely agree that Uncharted 2 is the best of the series and very much full of pure awesomeness. I loved that game. That is all.

Thanks, just sent them an email with my paypal purchase receipt.

Nice score! I never won anything nearly that cool and I spent quite a bit at Subway getting codes for the early access MP for my not so America friends.

The best I got was the Subway shirt for my generic hero/villain character.. but hell they took those options out when the game went live. :(

I'm not saying I didn't like Uncharted 3 (I will flat out say I didn't like The Last of US) its just a massive disappointment. I like/love too many of the Uncharted characters to not find some enjoyment out of them... Its just the game lacked some of the magic. It lacked the newness of 1 and it lacked the craftsmanship of UC2.

It would still consider it an easy 8.

I kinda want to ask for a key, but at the same time, I don't want to bug him more than I already have.

Even if this would be my fourth copy of the game already. (I got it for free in a promo of his, then I got it in an indie royale, then in bundle in a box.) Oy!

Edit: Eh, I sent a request, but also said that if Indie Royale purchasers are going to get keys added then I can wait until that happens.

It's not a Steam game, but I thought there may be a few interested parties in here who would like to know that GameMaker Studio Standard is free right now, normally $50. This also allows you to upgrade to the next tier for $50 rather than $100.

I'd second this just because I don't see PS3 going for much less in the near future until they're basically EOL. The WiiU will most definitely see future price cuts. The 3DS, I just can't find any personal value in.
I got mine for $115, but that bundle makes for a great gift to oneself ^-^

I'll try to be patient for the PC version instead of getting it for the PS3/360.

Also, does anyone want a game called "Fester Mudd"? Just noticed it had steam keys on my Groupees page and I'm not interested in playing it. I have two keys.
TY, it's part of the Build a Greenlight Bundle, which I bought 11 months ago today. That key took a long time.

That's gold to our insane counterpart, IEAG (Illogically Expensive Ass Gamers)

Edit: This Civ 5 mod looks awesome. Might have to download/load it up soon: http://www.pcgamer.com/2013/11/24/mod-of-the-week-faerun-for-civilization-v/
Damn that's cool. Loving the plug-and-play nature of the Steam Workshop, just click and done.

I won a move bundle from Subway once.

I've never used it.

I should have just traded it into Amazon when I got it. I think I could have scored a good $60 in credit.

You can always get high-end design software from Autodesk (Maya, 3DS Max, AutoCAD) or programming software from Microsoft (Visual Studio, Robotics Developers Studio) for free simply by having a college-associated e-mail address. I used my alumni e-mail from when I graduated in 2010 to sign up for both of them.

(Well, it seems like you don't even need the .edu anymore, but it probably helps in getting you verified quicker)

Wait a second... You barely look old enough to drive in your avatar.

I had more to this post/joke but my cat decided 10 minutes ago that it was "pet me" time and I forgot it... (The joys of cat ownership and old age,)

I got a 3DS XL a month ago and I'm extremely pleased with it. I love the Nintendo first party games, so I'd go with their consoles as a second platform. Since most of the top games I want to play are out on PC, I see no reason to purchase a PS3/4 or the Xbox for their exclusives. I mean, I'd buy a PS3 for the Uncharted Series, Last of Us, Heavy Rain and... nothing else really. Also, the Wii U software library still has a long way to go, and just Super Mario 3D World is not enough for me yet. To top it off, if I were to get a console to play on the TV I'd get more limited play time, since the wife usually watches TV while I play on the PC next to her. So a handheld is extremely convenient, and I can also play when I watch over my baby girl someplace else in our house.

I don't care for RPGs, but the library is still pretty damn good, and I can play the DS games. I so far have Super Mario 3D Land, Mario Kart 7, New Super Mario 1 and 2, Picross 3D, Metal Gear Solid 3D and Luigi's Mansion, and I'm awaiting for Picross DS, Castlevania 3DS, Pilotwings Resort, Metroid Prime Hunters and Contra 4. That's a pretty solid library and I don't even have a Zelda, Professor Layton or Ace Attorney game yet.

I haven't bought much yet from the eShop but Pushmo is a great puzzle game. The Virtual Console games are also a nice addition. I've been playing Zelda's Awakening and it's much better to play it on the 3DS (and I can save anytime I want).

So this will be my first holiday Steam sale. How do they do it? Is it like a normal week where they have new sales each day or do they just hit you all at once on Thursday/Friday?

Hey, it was mentioned in my 3 days of what did I miss that allot of people where playing Pinball FX2... Whom would that be? I would like to add you all to my steams friend list.
Just post a link to your Steam Profile and let others send you friend requests. Usually, works better that way.

The Fall sale is radically different from the Winter sale. Winter/Summer is sale long deals, dailies, and vote decided 8 hour quickies. I think the Fall sale last year was just a bunch of week long stuff. Frankly I bought much more from Amazon last year than Steam for the Fall sale.

You can't do this using the Steam version? I didn't get that from reading the linked information.

I am regretting more and more all the time not getting in on the Wadjet Eye Groupees. I didn't know who they were at the time. Now I no longer have the option of picking up all their games for five bucks. CAG woes... Ah well, maybe they'll do a bundle with Humble.

To add to the console peasant talk, for the little it's worth, I picked up a PS3 two Thanksgivings ago. I played through God of War 3 immediately and it has mostly laid dormant since. I own about a dozen games, but lately I've been rebuying them on Steam: first Rocksmith, then Rayman Origins (in the Legend bundle), and Mortal Kombat will be next. The Uncharteds, other GOWs, and Heavy Rain sit untouched on the shelf, while Wipeout languishes on my hard drive. To be fair, I probably would have played a lot more, but I can't stand my roommate's tv, which is a 32-inch bad picture quality off-brand piece of shit. Hopefully I'll get to put a dent in the backlog once I get out of this dump and get my own screen.

Damn...just looked it up, that's a good bundle.

wlel i went loco got 6 gamees plus two freee games one is awesome nauts and one is frozen snaspe is that good or bad?
Well both have been bundled before, but hey at least you didn't get stuck with Shadowgrounds ;)

I didn't care too much for Awesomenauts but if you like multiplayer and/or MOBAs (League of Legends, DOTA 2, Guardians of Middle Earth, etc.) then you might enjoy it. Frozen Synapse I haven't played but have heard good things about, but it's also multiplayer oriented. If nothing else you can just pretend you purchases those and got two of the games you actually bought for free.

If size doesn't matter to you (hehe) then I'd suggest looking for one of the Playstation 3D displays. You can routinely find them for $200 or less, and the picture quality is fantastic! Also they have a really cool 3D feature that lets you play certain PS3 games in split screen using the whole screen (look it up and it will make more sense). The only downside is that they are only 24" but if you are used to playing on a monitor that might not bother you too much.

I'm more a fan of big screens for console gaming. Hoping to get a 50"+ once I have the space for it. Anyway, my shit eyesight doesn't do so well with 3D. That's why I'm always walking into things...

Oh crap, I have to have this! Now I need the base game to go on sale soon; come on, Steam!

EDIT: I need this in a bundle with Scribblenauts Unmasked for less than $10. Somebody somewhere make this happen. Santa?!

So the key to getting Steam keys is to e-mail the developers with your receipts? I keep waiting for game keys to be added to Groupees/IR, but they never get updated. Dino Run SE, Fibrillation, The Cat Lady, Zombies, etc. And everyone else e-mails the dev directly with proof of purchase?
