This thread has been replaced by TSDT v11

Daily Deal:
Please check the Steam homepage.

Weeklong Deals:
Steam usually has week-long deals that change on Mondays at 6PM UTC. They mostly feature indie games, and may not run every week.

Sale summary lists:

Key:
⤷ indicates DLC, — specifies part of a pack, + shows alternative versions, ⚠ highlights things worth knowing, ♫ is obvious, and ... denotes a multi-pack.

Holiday Sale 2013 | 19/12/13 through 3/1/14:
Days 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12, 13-14.

Spring/Autumn Sale 2013 | 27/11/13 through 3/12/13:
All days.

Steam deals on other stores: (Related threads on CAG.)

Indie* bundle threads: (*Not always indie, nor always a bundle.)

Free stuff:
There are quite a few free games (mostly Free to Play) and mods available via the Steam platform, a comprehensive list of which can be found in this thread on the SPUF.
(NOTE: free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.)

Was digging through the backlog trying to find some platformer to rid myself of the horrid taste left by Eryi's Action, stumbled across Alien Spidy.  Much more fun, and it has a slick little web swinging mechanic.  Not overly frustrating, lots of checkpoints for your instant respawning.  I give it 3.5 thumbs up.  Check it out if you got it, if not, try these

People hating on Eryi's Action need to become acquainted with the greatest game in the genre, I Wanna Be The Guy.  Download, it, fail to pass the third screen for a half an hour, and then watch the full playthrough on YouTube.  It's incredible.

More disgusted than this getting greenlit?

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=163477220

I know it's pre-alpha, but it's one of the worst games I've seen to get greenlit.
Honestly, that's not as offensive as some of the stuff I've seen... They haven't even done the be in an indie bundle and beg for greenlight votes like so much crap has.

Am I going to by early access? No, not at all. I'm I buying it? Likely, no but I won't close the book on it right now... Do I think it will set the world on fire? No, not at all.

But I give them allot of credit for getting their project green-lit on its own merits and not because steam users just want to pad their game collection count or sale a few more steam cards for max profits.

You can't do this using the Steam version? I didn't get that from reading the linked information.
I got it from the reply they sent me
Hi Chris,

My understanding is that currently this offer only extends to non-Steam users, sorry.

Regards,
Matthew Bowden

Oh crap, I have to have this! Now I need the base game to go on sale soon; come on, Steam!

EDIT: I need this in a bundle with Scribblenauts Unmasked for less than $10. Somebody somewhere make this happen. Santa?!
Hopefully during the fall or holiday sales.

PSA: Steam keys for Eryi's Action are now up for Indie Gala October purchasers, and it has cards.
Thanks, activated it for the cards.

She's on top of that shit, too.

I emailed last night at, like, 2 AM and got a response with my key almost immediately.
I got mine around 2 am also.

They're in an indie bundle right now.. they got greenlit before the game was bundled though.

BTW, unrelated to the quote I'm replying to but.. DiRT 3 is no longer purchaseable on Steam. Buy button was removed.

OK OK, I've learned my lesson. I will be sure to at least watch the trailer before upvoting bundle fodder now ;)

I'd say that Eryi's Action is pretty easy. The checkpoints are plentiful and the levels are pretty short. Most of the traps are obvious once you've played the game for a while and the ones that get you just get added to that list of things to remember. I also like that it has a lot more diversity than Unfair Mario or Syobon Action (aka Cat Mario), with swimming and boss fights.

You're right. Someone needs to tell Indie Bundle Wiki that because if your search by title you don't find it... (It is listed in its bundle on the current bundles page.)

As for Dirt 3... Does that mean a new version without GfWL is inbound sooner rather than later?

I'm not calling out anyone in this thread... but if you go read feedback on those products they gets lots of votes just for being in a bundle and its not because of publicity. (Though that is undoubted happening too, which is fine.)

Well at least I was able to refrain from voting for Radical Roach, so I deserve a cookie or something for that...

I've had to go out of town, can someone remind me when the upcoming sale starts? Did I miss anything good over the last two days? I hope they let me buy from the Steam website, I've only ever used the client. I miss my PC bad!

I love that the Assassins Creed 4 mobile app lets me earn money for my game while I'm away from my sweet sweet PC.

on a more somber note

That should likely be in a spoiler for those who haven't cleared their DVR/caught it elsewhere yet...

That said, yeah very somber, I wasn't expecting it...

It was a surprising reminder of the sad truth of pet ownership... 99% of the time your going to out live them...

According to the leaked dates, the Steam sale starts tomorrow.

You haven't missed anything the past couple days, same crappy deals that have been going on for the past week-week and a half or so.

I've done it on the mobile client (Android version), but not the browser. Is there a Steam app for iPad?

EDIT: Dang, ninja'd at 1:10am. It's like Waffle House up in here, open all night.

That's strange. DiRT 3 is getting GfWL removed (link), so I don't know why they would pull it off the store. I know DiRT 2 was removed from Steam at the time of the announcement, but I just assumed it was because GfWL would not be removed. Maybe they're removing GfWL from both titles and just pulled them down for whatever reason in the meantime?

I bought DiRT 2 for $10 during a weekend deal in 2009. Still haven't played it. Boy, do I feel silly.

There's a difference. Dirt 2 was taken completely off of the store. Dirt 3 has a store page, but no buy button. I don't know if it means anything at this point.

fuel was also removed store at same time as dirt 2

There is a Steam app for iOS but I didn't think you could purchase through it. Thanks.

That feel when you're so excited for a game that you clean your monitor screen before playing it. *Antonio Banderas*

Were we supposed to wait to redeem are The Cat Lady steam keys?  Mine redeemed mystery app that doesn't show up on my game list and then I realized it's not on the store yet.

Nah, that's happened a couple of times for other games, when keys were provided before the games were fully available. It may require a client restart at a later date, but the game should appear fine once it has been added to the store.

See above but replace hair with purple/blue icon pattern.

I gave up on Eryi's Action 30 something deaths until the second checkpoint in the first stage. TOTAL troll game about nothing more than trial and error stage memorization. The trolling was funny for me, but I don't think I'd be laughing for more than15 minutes of this.

With all of this Eryi's Action talk, I pulled up the Desura page, looked at the screenshots, description and user reviews and concluded that it must suck more than Lost Planet 32: Electric Boogaloo.

**Heart stops**

**Manically clicks to Steam to confirm my state of panic..**

**You already own this game**

It works quite well too. You can even remotely install your games from your portable device.

iBuyPower Steam Machine Prototype

The first look at a Steam Machine

Valve's Steam Machines aren't expected to make their debut until January at CES 2014, but we've managed to catch early spyshots of a prototype from one of Valve's partners iBuyPower.

As previously reported, Steam Machines will come in various forms and various specs, but all will run SteamOS. The one we spied here is packs an AMD CPU with a discrete GPU. It will also have Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and at least a 500 GB HDD, with faster and larger options planned. While we weren't able to pose the machine next to anything else for scale, it's smaller than an Xbox One and even has an internal power supply. We're told this prototype is able to play all games at 1080p at 60fps, but obviously a lot of that depends on which game and its settings.

Currently the company has two prototypes: Gordon and Freeman. Both are identical save for the light bar around the middle. More specifically, Gordon has a blacked out area where the lighting is, and it's totally black when turned off, whereas Freeman is translucent/milky in that area.

Like all Steam Machines, it will pack Valve's innovative controller that seeks to be a replacement for the ever-loved keyboard and mouse combination.

The outside lighting is said to be customizable to user preference, or even disabled altogether, but all of this could change before launch.
