Daily Deal:
Please check the Steam homepage.

Weeklong Deals:
Steam usually has week-long deals that change on Mondays at 6PM UTC. They mostly feature indie games, and may not run every week.

Sale summary lists:

Key:
⤷ indicates DLC, — specifies part of a pack, + shows alternative versions, ⚠ highlights things worth knowing, ♫ is obvious, and ... denotes a multi-pack.

Holiday Sale 2013 | 19/12/13 through 3/1/14:
Days 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12, 13-14.

Spring/Autumn Sale 2013 | 27/11/13 through 3/12/13:

Steam deals on other stores: (Related threads on CAG.)

Indie* bundle threads: (*Not always indie, nor always a bundle.)

Free stuff:
There are quite a few free games (mostly Free to Play) and mods available via the Steam platform, a comprehensive list of which can be found in this thread on the SPUF.
(NOTE: free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.)

FYI for anyone who buys Bundle Bandits. The organizer won't be distributing Steam keys so if you want them for the non-Steam stuff you get there you will have to email your receipt to the developer and ask. Apparently he's also allowing in games that are on Steam but letting the developers get off without giving keys for it, even if they have done so in the past for other bundles.

We can't guarantee steam keys,We don't want to promise something that we can't deliver. You can show your payment go this bundle to the developer and ask for a steam key when it's green lit.

Same goes for Storm over the pacific, the developer preferred the drm-version, you might ask him by showing a print screen of your transaction.

Oh and the Air Control Dev apparently told people on Desura not to buy his game (in spite of putting it in multiple bundles) because it's not enjoyable yet (yeah no shit) but then deleted it.

Probably not. It's possibly 2deep4Mooby.

While I remember, is 2deep4u still a Steam tag or has it been removed by oppressive mods?
It's gone; it's been banned. So have a bunch of other tags. Pretty much anything that could be construed as remotely negative it blocked. I realize people went nuts with it but now I think that Valve went too far the other way and is letting developers flag any tag as "abusive" to the point where anything with the word "mobile" in it can't be used now. And there are many other instances.

Basically, unless you want to tag with rainbows and kittens, don't bother.

Finished Enslaved and the DLC last night. It's an awful port with mediocre gameplay and story but hey it was cheap and relatively short. That also wraps up my fourth in February with time to spare for Thief.

Enslaved
Might and Magic X
Blackguards
Ass Creed Liberation

How was Blackguards I purchased it, but haven't really jumped into it yet.

So basically a feature not even worth having...
Speaking of features not worth having, I learned the other day that the Steam Family sharing thing will only allow one person to be on your account at a time. So there's zero point in "loaning" a friend/family a game unless you plan on not using your Steam account until they're done. Seems remarkably pointless and if this was supposed to be the SteamBox's answer to console disc lending, it's a joke. "Hey, hurry up with my copy of Dishonored; none of my other discs will work until it's back in my house..."

Blackguards was great from a pure combat point of view. It's very tactical and has lots of nice "old school" style things such as turn based grid movement, friendly fire, etc.. However, the rest of the game was extremely bland. There's no exploration at all, you just click a dot on a screen to travel to the next static town screen or battle. Also the Dark Eye world is really dull IMO. There's very little gear and equipment variety and you'll be looting things like short swords and leather shields right up until the very end. If you're looking for a pure combat sim, this is a very good game. If you're hoping for a fun RPG with the usual things like exploration and loot hoarding, you'll be disappointed.

How is M&M X? That and spacehulk are games I really want to play
I had a huge blast but I'm a big fan of the old Might and Magics. I was extremely pleased with just how large the game world is and how much there is to do and see. I spent hours "mowing the lawn", that is mapping every grid I could step on. There are a couple of areas where the performance really gets bogged down for no reason and it has a few rage inducing difficulty spikes. I was quite apprehensive about a M&M reboot but it's clear the devs know exactly what made M&M special and were keen to add their own little touches to the world without changing it up too much. I'm sure I'll play the whole thing again with another party at some point which is pretty rare for me.

I've heard from more than one developer who were at the Steam Dev Days 2014 that the Greenlight system as we know it will start to get phased out over time. "Likes", while still very important today, will probably not be so in a year from now. I couldn't get any kind of clarification as to what might be replacing it, but I think you're right that as the entry process into Steam changes, so too will bundles that exist solely to spotlight games not yet on Steam.
I already know what will be replacing Greenlight:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8uG7wQGVXA

(the plan is turning Steam into an API anybody can use. There will not be no "real" entry process, anybody gets in.

Whee, I actually managed my goal of 8 (+1) in February :whee:

Final tally (which I've shamelessly attached my reviews to for those who care to know my thoughts on any of the games):

Lilly Looking Through

A short, rather lovely point and click adventure game of sorts. The ending was disappointing, but otherwise I enjoyed it a lot. Reminded me of Amanita Design's stuff.

Castle of Illusion

Fantastic platformer that is over far too soon, I enjoyed it more than 90% of what Disney has put out over the last decade or so. Probably not worth $15, but definitely pick this up during a sale.

Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams

Ashes has definitely said enough about this that you should know it's awesome, and well worth playing since you all but certainly already have it from the current Humble. Still waiting for you to beat the Gurglewocky, Kitty ^_~

GS - Rise of the Owlverlord
I thought I was pretty burnt out on Giana Sisters after Twisted Dreams, but Owlverlord completely debunked that assumption as I had a blast playing through its 7 levels and think it's even stronger than the base game. If it's not added as one of the HIB11 bonuses you definitely should pick this up sometime down the road.
NaissanceE

Pretty neat explorative puzzle game which seems to have a lot in common with Kairo. There are some really annoying design decisions which bring it down, but all of them should be pretty easy to patch (and hopefully the developer will do so), after which point I can definitely recommend it to those that like this sort of game.

Love

Actually beat this 4 times while waiting for the cards to drop. Great little platformer that you can beat in less than half an hour, which I think is well worth the modest $3 price tag.

Journal

Disappointing is the best word to describe this. I wanted to love it so much, but the writing was just too poor for a game that consists of nothing but it (it's something of a cross between a visual novel and a point and click adventure game). As a plus the secret ending was one of my favorite easter eggs in recent years, and I thought a rather humorous parody of indie devs that would be worth youtubing if it's up there yet.

Windosill

Another game that can be beaten in half an hour (although I stupidly took twice as long). It's very simple, but a really nice little adventure game that feels like playing a children's picture book. Worth checking out if you aren't a heartless shell of a human being.

*Bonus Game*

The Plan

It's free and can be beaten in 5 minutes. You shouldn't need to take my word for it, go play it yourself!

I feel pretty accomplished with myself right now, short as most of these games were. I think I'm going to dive into something lengthy now that I've met my quota.

Yup.

There should be a serious limit to the number of connections (I think its 5 members total, so lets say you and two others) to your account and you shouldn't be able to be playing the same game at the same time... but those are the only two limits I can think of that SHOULD be there.

They used to let one person play in offline mode and the other in online mode but I believe they closed that loophole a few patches ago.

It might still let the lendee play if the lender is in offline mode but I know the reverse is no longer true.

Also you can be online on Steam chatting, selling cards, posting on forums whatever and someone authorized can still play a game from your shared library. You just can't be online and playing a game or they won't be able to.

It's not like any of us play our games, outside of February at any rate. :p

How am I supposed to idle cards if some jerk is playing my games?

I've been in the beta since day one. My girlfriend no longer needs me to sign in on her laptop to play my games. I've played friends' games at the same time they played one from my library. I've finished (or had my fill) of maybe 10 or so games that belong to friends at this point. It's been very useful.

That sounds like pretty limited usefulness, to be honest. Granted, my wife lives with me so I have no reason to log into my account via her computer. And trading off accounts with friends strikes me as more situational and planning than I'd want to deal with. But I have a large enough library that there's tons of games I own that I have yet to play, much less needing to find games my friends own.

Don't get me wrong; if it's working great for you then that's cool for ya. I just can't see it's overall allure or how it could be credibly offered as an alternative to console disc sharing.

I've never done any planning, never said "are you going to be playing between 7 and 9? If not I'm going to use your library." Maybe everyone you might want to share with is constantly playing games at the times you might be, but that's not the case for me.

I'm just offering up my opinion on the feature as someone who has actually been using it for a few months, rather than just speculating on how I think I might get used.

One of the most interesting uses of Steam Family Sharing is a co-op alt account.... for those "play with me" times. (esp for stuff that doesn't have extra DRM, largely indie stuff).

That's fair and I appreciate the input.  Our situations just don't seem analogous enough to make the reasons why it works for you attractive to me.  I'd rather it worked for me 'cause, hey, more games.  I'm not seeing it yet but it's still in beta anyway.

Seems to be getting mixed reviews

Wot I Think: Thief

Got it unlocked and day one patch downloaded and will be trying soon. :)
I don't care. I didn't score a code for it -- I've got no skin in this game. And well it's Squeenix anyway, so I won't have to wait that long.

I'm in the middle of Skyrim atm, though I'm thinking of taking a break for some BL2 pew-pew.

Steam keys for Angvik are now available if you bought Groupees Build a Greenlight Bundle 4.

Gatling Gears has been removed from the store, the game was in Indie Royale Spiral Groove Bundle.

Wasn't Gatling Gears published by EA?

*Edit: Yes it was. Someone on the Steam community forum said it's been yanked from Origin too. Apparently you can still buy it on Amazon for the time being though as an Origin key.

I'm bad boy and I paid for it :p. Saints Row IV + Thief for 10€-ish was good enough :)

It's like -90% (5€) at day one (since no preorder extras) :D

Greed Corp and Gatling Gears are related games and both from Vanguard. Greed Corp is still on Steam and I wouldn't be surprised if EA's publishing deal for Gatling Gears expired and it'll make a return under Vanguard.

Do you want more steam games? Or do you want to exercise your refined tastes?  You can't have both.

(I know, I've been bit by those skipped bundle games plenty of times.)

Once I hit a thousand owned steam titles, then I will deal only with the titles that most interest me.

Aw, who am I kidding, CAG has ruined me. I'm going to continue buying all the bundles long after I've hit one thousand.

Waiting for a 75% discount will be really hard...

Oh and the Air Control Dev apparently told people on Desura not to buy his game (in spite of putting it in multiple bundles) because it's not enjoyable yet (yeah no shit) but then deleted it.
In both of those cases, I appreciate the honesty. Bundlebandits doesn't have an agreement with the publishers it works with for Steam keys. Good to know. It probably won't affect my decision to buy their bundles, mostly as I haven't yet bought any of their bundles.

Air Control? Well, I wasn't planning on playing it soon anyway. It was $.25 in a bundle. For that price I can consider my purchase a bit speculative.

I finally got around to setting it up recently so my wife could play on a Steam account for her and get her own playtime and achievement stats. Also, Go Home Dinosaurs has no function for multiple player profiles on a single Steam account and her playing it shared on her account allowed her to have her own profile.

They don't have an agreement because they choose not to have one. Groupees has told me that they explicitly have it in their contract now that if a game gets in through Greenlight Steam keys are to be provided to them. It doesn't mean some publisher or developer might not try to pull shenanigans but it gives them a leg to stand on if they do.

That Bundle Bandits is chosing not to pursue such an agreement may be honest but as far as I am concerned (note: this is an opinion) it's also lazy on his part to wash his hands of it and put it on the customer when the norm for every other bundle site (except shitty Indie Fort) is to handle that.

Additionally, it's not good for business. Much of the reason that these Greenlight bundles are selling is promise of Steam keys. It's not as if his lineup of Steam games in that bundle are anything new or fresh you can't get somewhere else right now so he'd be better off doing something to try to draw people in. The fact is Steam keys, or even the promise of them, sells more bundles then not having them.

The fact that he is also an indie game developer (he is the Pickle Frenzy and Paradigm Shift guy IIRC) may also play some part in this decision I suppose.

This! Without a reasonable promise of Steam Keys for greenlight games, I'll be a lot more discerning. (See: No Steam. No Buy. Rule.)

I have a Thief 2013 key. Nobody wants it. I would want to play it, but first-person games make me motion sick. Didn't they think about me when designing the game? Nooooo.

I stopped ignoring you sometime ago... At least on the ignore list thing, Gave you a few likes of late also.

Anyhow, I cannot see how anyone thinks Gearbox is wrong in this. They bought the rights from 3D realms, they own Duke Nuke'm, they have to go after this sort of crap or they would lose the copyrights and what not. This isn't King.com doing shady shit. Scary as it maybe, this is legitimately what copyright law was made to prevent.

If you give the key to me I'll play it and describe it to you as if it were a visual novel or some sort of turn based strategy game. Your preference.
