This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

For those wondering, Transformers: WFC clocks in at 6.57 GB. Also, HLTB has it at 8.5 hours to complete the main story, 22 for completionists.

The Transformers deals are a crossplatform sale with PSN, after the big Activision weekend sale at Steam. Not surprised.

I'm glad they put other items on sale though. Perfect timing for the first sale on Sacred Citadel DLC since it price-dropped to $2 (used to be $5) recently. The Citadel DLC was recently on sale for PC for $0.40 less than a week ago, so getting it so soon for both platforms I own it on is kinda nice.

I have everything else (though Pool Nation's still not showing up as bought on the website because of the S&S app) except for Scourge Outbreak, which I just recently got in a bundle for PC for $1.49, as did a lot of people in the Steam thread. Their impressions of it agree with skonson, it's supposed to be pretty terrible.

That said, it's $2.49, and has 400G at least? For any people OCD about DLC though, it has 1 DLC and it costs more than the game itself right now ($4).

Sucks the Transformers DLC isn't on sale, I got all the packs last time they were on sale, as well as WFC's GoD. I have FoC physical from GameFly (because the GoD was $30, $15 still isn't that great aside from the double-license).

How's Sacred Citadel?
Good. Definitely a better game than Scourge Outbreak, if you're deciding between the two. It used to be $15, so $2.50 is a pretty significant discount. Kinda regretting shelling out $7.50 for it on 360 way back when, but them's the breaks.

Since the sales suck, I gotta say watching Netflix and the film Top Secret is still ridiculously good despite being nearly 30 years old.

In for War for Cybertron. Had been looking for a cheap copy since I had just found a copy of Fall for like $8 recently.

Indeed, games are for hoarding.

Too Late (wrong amy )

What's so bad about Amy ?
Furry.

Last week I watched:

2 seasons of Futurama
Odd Thomas
Many ESPN 30 for 30's
And Ferris Buelers Day Off lol

Fables a good buy at $30. Honestly, it's the most fun I've had with a game this year. Since I already have and 100%'d that, nothing for me this week. Maybe we'll get an xbox one sale surprise tomorrow.
Def, that's a nice deal but I'm gonna need a physical copy as I've got no room on my HDD any more. I still have a huge backlog so I can afford to wait. I'm expecting Xbox One sales either on E3 or planned for the Holiday fall season.

Omg I just watched that movie because I saw a gif and was like what's that movie that Val Kilmer is in? Hehe, thought it was great.

almost-caught-val-kilmer-top-secret.gif

That was a disappointing DotW. I already own Pool Nation and Fez, perhaps the only worthy buys for said prices. The Transformers game have a solid price, but as it often happens, Europe gets the worse deal out of it (WFC is 7.49 Euros rather than 5 bucks, that's around 10 bucks, twice as expensive therefore). I just recently acquired some spacebucks from the Rewards program, which could land me Scourge or Sacred, but to be honest both look pretty bland. I also looked at their achievements, maybe that could motivate me if I'm on the fence, but they both have time-consuming stuff, and I doubt I'll have interest in playing those games after one hour or so.

Oh well. Bring on Peggle 2 tomorrow!

FoC has a lot of DLC, but all of them are contained in the 3 different packs. They're also all on disc, if you're against that kind of thing.

I loved both WfC and FoC. Campaigns scratched many nostalgia itches and my inner 8 year old had an absolute blast in MP, driving around, transforming, firing off some shots or landing some melee attacks, transforming again and driving away.

Still need 1 achievement in WfC, clearing 15 waves in Escalation. Can be done solo, but it's time consuming (4-5 hours) . Spent 3+ hours getting through wave 11 or 12, when I accidentally flew against a wall which glitched me outside the map. Couldn't get back in, ran out of ammo and had to quit. Want to get it off the backlog, but haven't felt like setting aside the time to go through that again.

And I hope the FoC avatar items go on sale. I don't generally care for avatar stuff, but I want those Grimlock and Laserbeak pets.
I'll try to remember you when I get to play that game, maybe we can do the waves together.

I need some XBL friends that play Trials to compete against.
Which Trials, HD, Evo? I haven't played too much of Evo, but friends in the leaderboards to beat are always welcomed. Send me a FR at [customspoiler=gamertag]EloyOn[/customspoiler]

Telltale guys are making too many "game" series at once, I guess that this is the main reason that The Wolf among us is being released at such a slow pace. Though I also will gladly play the Borderlands Telltale's series once it goes out.

I normally avoid going offtopic, but I've got to ask... How was Odd Thomas?
It was pretty solid. Anton Yelchin is one of my favorite actors so I enjoyed it.

On topic, this weeks sales just mean I get to put more hours into Risen 2. This game is sneaky good lol the voice acting can be a bit funny and the dialogue isn't perfect, but all in all I actually like it more than Skyrim. I just couldn't get into the Skyrim story at all.

Thinking about Sacred Citadel and that crappy gears game. I need some "fun" coop games and those are cheap.
Why not pick up Gears 2 for ludicrously cheap at Gamestop? Or spring for a whole $5 on Gears 3? I think you'd have more fun playing through that game again coop than you would playing Scourge. I tried it for an hour and couldn't go any further. As an exercise in masochism (and not the fun Dark Souls kind), it might be worth it. See the hilarious "penny" post from Skonson.

This is an accurate review.

There was a big gap between the first two episodes, but they seem to be on schedule now with The Wolf Among Us and The Walking Dead alternating months. At this rate, TWAU should be done by August and Walking Dead by September, just in time for their next round of Borderlands and Game of Thrones.

Hey! Looks like the Killer Instinct Combo Breaker Pack is 25% off this week. Does anyone know if the game in it's current state is worth the fifteen bucks? especially to someone who is itching for something to play on his Xbox One. Most of the early reviews for it seem to say things like "it's got a strong foundation but it's sorely lacking in content". Now that the roster has been fleshed out a bit and it's got a story mode added in, would anyone who currently has it recommend it?

Last i knew you could still play the entire games worth of content but with only one character. So go ahead and give it a whirl first.

If you feel like you'd play competitively or against local AI with more characters is worth $15 then go for it.

Season 2 will supposedly be revealed at E3 and/or shortly after and is to be done by the end of the year. Season 2 will double the characters, but not sure what it will offer in content and/or if they will have a package with both seasons together. Think seperate season passes.

Personal opinion: Best fighting game I've played since SF4. So till USF4 comes to consoles It's probably the best bet this gen. Second favorite launch window game behind DR3.

Finished Deadlight finally. It was OK. Though I can see why a lot of people had buyers remorse when the game came out. I finished the game and all the achievements in under 5 hours. Would be pretty upset with the quality of the game for $15.

Also, only 1.6 million people on the leaderboards? Apparently a lot of people don't take advantage of Games with Gold, or just don't boot up their copies.

May games with gold predictions: Mass Effect 1 and Geometry Wars.
Personally speaking, it's not that I don't take advantage of Games with Gold. It's that some games are so uninteresting that I don't even want them when they're free.

I'll try to remember you when I get to play that game, maybe we can do the waves together.
Remember me too :p I 100% the campaign stuff but i'd like people to drag me into escalation.

I only have good words for WfC at that price by the way. Baboy, I recall having paid 5€ for this game, not sure when, last september maybe. It sucks they raised once again the currency conversion.

I might buy Transformers WFC for 5 bucks just for the convenience but it's hard for me to stomach 15 for FOC when it's new on Amazon for the same. I'd kind of like to go digital for just the convenience but I have doubts the digital games will ever work outside of the 360.

I'd only not recommend it if you don't like fighting games or want original KI. There isn't a way to upgrade from the cheaper version of the game to the one that comes with original KI. I think an option to upgrade will be made available at some point though.

Otherwise, definitely buy it for $15. Season 2 will probably cost another $15-$20 and the devs have said (and then taken back what they said) that they plan on adding 8 new characters and no mercy finishing moves.

I think it is more fun that SSF4 because matches usually have a fast pace to them. SFxT is still my favorite modern fighting game because of how much fun it is to play ranked with a friend (although it needs combo breakers). SFxKI would be the purrrfect game for me.

Ah, cool, for the costumes and stuff that come with the $40 edition, can you grind in the main game enough and unlock them or are they strictly sold as a separate item?

Sometimes i really think xbox doesn't want to make money during these weekly sales. I would think they would put games that people actually want to play or purchase. I guess at the end of the day i'm glad the sale isn't on NBA 2k14 again. Even though we know it will be again during the NBA Finals. Another week i wont be buying anything from xbox live.

Peggle is going to be $14.99/£11.99 when it releases tomorrow. As always, will wait for a discount hopefully during the New Years countdown sale

How I feel when I'm on my 360 and  I see fellow friends and CAG members with the vauge XBOX ONE logo next to their name.

I just can't do it yet! I've probably 50 games I haven't touched on my HDD yet, and I really do think it's going to take Fallout 4 to get me to join current gen. Well, maybe a few months after Fallout 4, so they can squash the inevitible bugs.

I picked up Alpha Protocol for $2 and was really enjoying it until I got stuck on an insane boss fight, and I'm playing on easy. Definitely see that they were going for a Mass effect clone w Espionage but gameplay is frustrating as hell.

I believe you have to unlock accessories no matter what, but you'll have to buy the $40 or costumes separately. I think the accessories change enough of the costume themselves without buying actual costumes.

Scourge Outbreak = AMY

But at that price can I avoid it (I bought Amy cause it was cheap and I wanted to see how awful it was for god's sake)?

Tune is for next week to see if I've bought this lemon or not

It's supposedly an awful soulless tedious boring and budget Gears of War clone.

Your Xbox has likely seen enough brown and beige textures in its lifetime for you to pass on it. There is co-op, which might make the game more passable as a laugh with some mates, but then you have to convince other people you like to purchase it which will eventually make them resent you.

You could just microwave $2.50 in pennies and see what happens and probably have a more exciting time and perhaps meet a stunning paramedic and/or coroner.
But ... is it equal to or worse than Amy?

THIS. It can happen. Just went to a local music festival in town and one of the paramedics looked just like Debra from Dexter. She was in her early twenties, was wearing glasses and wore her clothes the same as the character(shirt tucked in with pants low on her hips). Even had less make up on too. Glad I was wearing my sunglasses that day cause my eyes about popped outta my sockets when I saw her

It isn't really about conversion, it's about the games having different prices in many cases. Some games at 30$ are instead 40 Euros in here, and in more rare cases, the European prices are lower (at least on a 1:1 scale). Sales, likewise, are applied in the same manner: the same percentage is applied, no matter what the original price is. That Transformers game was 30 Euros here rather than 20 bucks, hence the 7,49 Euros price (75%). We occasionally had the sweeter deal from this (Max Payne 3 costing 5 Euros rather than 15 dollars a while ago), but unfortunately that is not the case normally.

I love everything PopCap, and Peggle is one of their best things ever, spent an unhealthy amount of hours on the first game and its spin-offs. Full price is fine for me, though I wonder about the DLC: it already came out on X1, so I suppose it'll be available on X360 for money as well. I hope they surprise me and the base game already features it without extra payments.

Need for Speed devs said they wont be releasing a game till next year, and they had this to say:

"We are already deep in development on our next game and want to make this promise to you: we will listen to you. We’re going to give you the game you’ve been asking for. It will be the game you deserve, but to do that will take us some time."

Man I really hope it's Underground 3.
