No derp. Look before you leap.
Live by the bundle, die by the bundle. As a dev if you put your game in a bundle you should be prepared for the fact that a lot of people won't ever consider paying full retail price (or even Steam sale price) on your game.
That's true, but the dev seems to completely ignore the fact that the entire process still accomplished a very real goal by putting his game out there, making a name for his company. That's worth a LOT.
Getting a game for cheap lowers the buyer's expectations of it, usually (I got Yet Another Zombie Defense for free, it's only $2 MSRP, and because of those two things I actually gave it a positive review and enjoyed it for what it is). Is it easy to jump into making games and get TONS of people to buy and play your game? No. But you put it in a cheap bundle and your game is VERY widely spread. Stinkfist or whatever his name is can bash Indie Gala all he wants, but that article completely ignores the fact that Gala distributed his game to the masses and got him through the door. Now he can move on with a little bit of a reputation (I've heard SMRPG is solid enough) and will gain some fans who played his last game, enjoyed it, and are willing to pay a bit more for the next one (obviously most gamers aren't CAGs).
Jobs are all about whoring yourself out for pennies initially, getting better, getting your foot in the door, and moving up the ladder. Whoring SMRPG out to Gala may have hurt his pride, but it helped his career as a developer.
26. Can I sell my keys?
Absolutely NOT. Please read our Terms of Service.
But why hold Happy Hours? For keys to give away to other people?

k Surely they know what they're doing.
Hal hits the nail on the head:
A TOS is only as good as the laws behind it, which vary in many places.
I'd venture a strong guess that they're very aware of resellers and massive group buyers, and I'd venture an even stronger guess that they don't give a

. If they did, they'd be trying to combat it (no, the whole "redeem to your Steam account" doesn't count, since you can still just gift the game).
Honestly, what works out better? Just letting everyone buy bundles regardless of their motives (racking up sales, making more money)? Or cracking down on things and losing sales? C'mon, that's not going to happen. The ToS is cosmetic.
The good news is that Bobby has a ton of keys available in the trade thread if you missed out.

I was going to post a rye remark, but I wont.
You people like Ashes' posts way too often just because she
allegedly has a vagina. That wasn't even funny!
Which comes to the crux of the problem with this argument (by this argument I mean the last two pages of this thread).
The SMRPG dev did not say "Key resellers should be put in jail! This practice must stop!"
He said "I didn't know not to do this, and it cost me. Be careful in the future because it could cost you too."
It IS the developer's fault for not researching the way bundles work, which is why he wrote the article - so that other indie developers could learn from his mistakes.
I wouldn't have been so offended by the article if he called it the African-American market.
We're doing nicknames now?

That's been my pet name for him for ages. Get your own!

I've been fairly open to the fact I sound like a mentally retarded 13yo.
Wait, you aren't a mentally retarded 13yo?
