People are going to hoard regardless. Doesn't indicate the quality of the title.
I haven't even opened Breach and Clear or SMRPG (of course I knew I'd never play them I only purchased because I'm chasing the complete Vita collection). I do plan on playing Oddworld though. I'll be honest, I've never heard of most of the games they're going to be releasing.

Same for me as well. Really hard to believe they sold out already - have a feeling they maybe just don't know their allotment yet. Or it could just be an ordering glitch.
Strange, just tried and it let me pre-order it.

I hope that isnt the June titles they were teasing.

Edit: it is. so its Xeodrifter and Octodad for June

Also not that this matters to some people but both breach and clear and futuridium have glitched trophies. If they keep releasing 2 a month this is gonna get old fast and I may have to quit that vita collecting game.

This thread has certainly been much better ever since that one who hated anime gifs (and I assume everything else) stopped coming here to just complain.

All is right with the world.

I still hate them when theres more on each page than normal posts, but you're right it has been better lately.

A well placed gif is great. 30 poorly placed ones are terrible.

I want going for complete or anything but certainly buying games when they hit clearance that I might not have otherwise (I blame this thread). If I was going for complete I would be unhappy about this since it all seems over priced to me.

Xeodrifter is a DIGITAL ONLY game being offered physically, what's the problem? Buy it or don't, does the length really mean anything? Uncharted 4 is releasing next week for $60 dollars, 6-12 months from now, it will be $20 or so, is it not worth buying now, just because it will be cheaper later?

The logic and arguments around here defy all reason. I'm buying every VITA game LRG offers, as I can't stand digital games, and I don't care to pay a premium for the privileged. These games are "limited", so even if you decide in 30 days it wasn't worth your time and money, guess what, you can sale it for what you paid at least(in most cases even more).

Guess what you get from a 2 hour digital game once you finish it? NOTHING! it's over and done, and in a few years, you may not even be able to play it again. Not every game is going to be a super value, some will, some won't. It's all about the user, and what they may find value in.

I personally find ZERO value to any digital game, EVER!

I know I was one of the ones who bought breach and clear and frankly never wanted it. Not my type of game. I almost bit on New & Tasty but since it was free on PS+ I didn't. Was close though! At least when you get these games to hoard/collect/possibly play they don't take up much room at least. I will support if they get Japanese developers wanting to release physical copies under their belt, such as Yakuza 5 from Sega, but I know I really want that Valhalla game and that one RPG game, so those will be easy buys whenever they come out.

I think it's less the length of the game than the size of the game. I think one reason people like getting the physical releases is to save space on the Vita memory card. I do. Basically, with a game as small as Xenodrifter, you aren't gaining anything by it being physical versus digital. The same can be argued for other LRG releases, but something like Oddworld makes a big difference.

My personal opinion on Xenodrifter, I tried the game on 3DS and didn't like it at all, so this is an easy skip for me. Octodad too. I'm all for supporting indies, but when I buy a game, or collect a game, I get them to play as well. If I won't play a game, I don't get it. Indie or not.

They shouldn't be releasing games before they even get their others out. No reason we all don't have Oddworld before futuridium drops
I already have my copies of Oddworld. It takes a bit to ship out so many copies with such a small team.

The chance with Sega is slim. John Hardin said Sega isn't interested at all. There is a very slim chance though.

They do have one Japanese developer under their belt and are pretty excited about it. They are also actively trying to get more and have noted that some were interested after their visit to Japan.

LRG said they accidentally shipped out a few. They wanted to ship all of them at once.

Either way, I don't think it's a big deal to put out another game for purchase. There's a lot that goes into the planning I'm sure. They have to work close with the games developers.

I remember when people complained about Retro City Rampage PS4/Vita and when it sold out, they complained about missing it.
I remember those post well, tons of hate on how the games was small and didn't justify the price. Then once it was gone, all the but hurt began.

I don't intend to get EVERY game that LRG releases. I missed out on breach and clear, and I do not regret it. I am interested in good games. I won't buy sub-par games just because they are rare. I don't care about getting a complete collection.

That said, I really like the way that LRG is pricing their releases. $20-$30 is a reasonable price, even for physical copies of smaller-scale games. When LRG puts out a game that I am interested in, I'm quite happy to jump on that with both feet. I'm up in the air about Futuridium. I'm going to download the digital version I have over the weekend and get an idea for how I like it.

As a collector, I am grabbing them all, but I do have to say that I have been pretty disappointed with the last few announcements. I too prefer having the physical option, but I don't necessarily agree that every game no matter how small or obscure is worthy of a physical release. I'd actually prefer it if LRG focused more on really great games that didn't get a physical release for whatever reason rather than pumping out release after release of what are more or less games I would never download, even if they were 100% free.

For the record guys, the publisher of Xeodrifter is connected/shares blood with Devolver. The success of Xeodrifter may open access to Devolver's library of games.

If they only stuck with releasing just the games that everyone would want, they'd be out of business since it would take them forever to release anything.  As long as they're able to continuously sell out some titles here and there, while they wind up for a title in between that will be fantastic, I don't mind at all.  Just remember, LRG brings these games over for people to buy, not bring them over because they have so much respect for the Vita community.  As much as they may want to give off that notion they are in it with us, they still need to be able to stay afloat to intermittently bring us a title that everyone will want, but they can't all be winners, or at least they can't if they want to stay in business.

I would much rather have LRG releasing Vita games, than not.  Just don't buy the ones you don't want, and buy the ones you do.  There are plenty of people who will buy the ones you don't want, and that's really what's important to have LRG continue releasing more games for us to enjoy.  It's about finding that diamond in the rough, and those are the times when you should appreciate LRG even more so.

I'm actually starting to lean against picking up these <$10 digital games now that they are charging $30 a pop. I am also concerned with the quality of games they are choosing to release. I wish they'd focus more on high quality games.

Considering the numerous releases they are starting to announce, I'm not sure how many of those games I would have otherwise bought. Buying each release is going to start to add up very quickly and compare to normal game spending. We're entering the territory of paying a premium just to have physical things to collect.

Xeodrifter is a pretty good game. Ultimately, it was FREE on PS+ and took up so little room that it was worth checking out since I love the metroidvania formula. I see no good reason for me to buy it in physical form because while it was good, I'm not sure I'll ever even play it again as it wasn't that great of an experience. I don't care that much about resell value. I'm done being a collector, seller, collector, seller... etc.

That said, if people want to buy it, cool. I have no beef with folks buying whatever games for whatever reason.

Futuridium, I thought it was boring and no fun. Give it a play though, you may love it. I think that's the beauty of all these PS+ freebies (and $1 games) getting physical releases, most of these games we probably already own. I think the only PS+ digital only Freebies that I'd seriously consider buying for vita are:

- Jet Set Radio (because it's Sega and I was a huge Dreamcast gamer)

- Limbo (because I loved playing through the iOS version and it would be interesting having this in phsysical form)

- Fez (I think this is a great game, I had a lot of fun figuring out and exploring the game world... the puzzles were also pretty inventive. I don't care that the original dev was a bit full of himself.. the actual game to me was excellent)

- La-Mulana EX (fantastic Metroidvania game... it takes actual brains and skill to figure a lot of the game out which leads to some frustration but to me it's the kind that feels rewarding to overcome, similar to how I felt about Fez)

Of those 4, I'd probably be most hyped to get Fez in physical form... though, it's not like I actually need any of them since I have them all digital (some because I bought them after/before they were free on PS+). So I probably would even have a hard time pulling the trigger and buying them just for shelf decorations.

I downloaded the digital version of XeoDrifter, and actually gave it a try on my Vita. It was pretty good. I wouldn't mind picking up a copy of that if they release it as part of the LRG catalog. And Cosmic Star Heroine is a no-brainer for me, I've loved Zeboyd's games.

I have no particular concern about the comparative price between the physical and digital copies of these games. This is partially due to my background as a graphic designer. I'm intimately aware of the costs associated with printing physical goods. (as it used to be a major part of my job, I still remember calling people up to get quotes on printing jobs) Physical copies cost money up-front. It's only natural that you would have a base-line expense, no matter how much the digital version costs. So when they charge $25 for the physical copy of a game that is regularly sold digitally for $10-$15, I don't even bat an eye.

If they were selling these games for $40+, then that would make me start to question the value, and expect a bit extra in the box. But $25-$30 is no big deal for me, even for smaller-scale or length digital titles. As long as the game in question is a quality title, I'm in.

It's also important to remember that at the price's they're charging, the mark-up per-copy is probably piddly. LRG is not making bank off of their business model. At best they're breaking even or coming slightly ahead. But they are NOT raking in huge profits.

They also don't have carte-blanche over what titles they get to release. They have to petition the developers individually, and convince them to front the money for the printing expense. And most of those developers know that they aren't going to see huge returns on the physical copies. With LRG's current track record, breaking even is a bit more assured. But the developers are going to be investing time and expense, with little to no net profit to show for it. Having your game printed through LRG is more a matter of prestige than profit.

So LRG does not get to just wave their hand and print whatever game they please. Some of the less desirable games that come out through them will just be a matter of that particular developer saying yes. Beggars can't be choosers.

A vita cart cost 2-3 times as much as a PS4 disc.

As they explained in their livestream a few days ago, if LRG decided to print 500 more copies of Odd Odyssey Vita, they would have to cut about 1000 copies of the PS4 ver., which means they lose money for the developer.

A vita cart cost 2-3 times as much as a PS4 disc.
The cost of mass-pressing discs is always a fraction of what you pay for making cartridges. It doesn't matter how simple the cartridge is, it will always be more expensive to produce than an optical disc. (which lend themselves very well to mass production) Just the nature of the beast. Even with the larger size of the PS4 cases, the cost of producing a Vita copy would still be considerably higher.

Maybe someone here can help me through is. I purchased SW pinball last night, but the demo won't install. I'm getting error c2-12383-7 whenever it tries to install. I have it loaded on ZP2 just fine, but the SW standalone seems to be the problem. I uninstalled and reinstalled ZP2 also, in hopes that maybe there was some issue from having it from PS+ ages ago, but that didn't fix it. I would like to buy all of the packs, but prefer the trophy list for the SW standalone. Again, I used to have it on my vita from Plus, but now it just won't install. Only gets about 20% through the install before it gives me the error. Any ideas? I'm going to try loading it through my PS3 when I get home as a last resort... Fingers crossed.

I thought part of the LRG pitch was that they (LRG) front the costs for production... not the dev. So it's a win win for the dev but a gamble for LRG.

I can't imagine LRG makes less than $5 per copy sold of each game. So Oddworld should have made the company around $37,500. For a tiny company that should be pretty good profit for mostly handling product distribution. If they aren't at least making $5 per game (outside of production and dev profits)... then they are destined to fail.

LRG fronts the costs I believe. I think they mentioned a 70/30 split with the developers or something like that.

I'm not sure if you know but Limbo has physical releases on PC and on Xbox 360.

Do you know how much the games LRG released would cost if they ever closed down? They arent cheap even now on eBay but damn its scary to think at the huge mark up that would happen.

I remember the releases. Just was saying digital only vita games that have been free on PS+. I would like vita versions of stuff. Sort of like Jet Set Radio is available in physical form for the Dreamcast.

The only one I bought was SMRPG and that was for :ps4:. I bought it to play but ended up buying it digital for $9.99 to help with the spend $100 get $15 back PSN promo lol.

Outside of that they haven't released anything that I want. The only one releasing that I want that has been revealed is Cosmic Star Heroine. I'm with others, they need to choose better games.

If Sony decides to open it up to homebrew, it could expand much faster like everyone can make some mobile games and have a store for that. PSVita and even home console are losing ground to the mobile platform and Apple TV.

PSVita and PS4 is considered to be hardest to hack and crack, homebrew is still possible on PSVita after a lot of work (I'm keep a Vita at old firmware waiting for a better day), so as there are many people interested in that, why not open it (not meaning to play "backup") to have it bloom.
Didn't they already have a store called PlayStation Mobile? And didn't it fail miserably?
