This thread will attempt to provide a place to discuss past/present/future PC gaming deals. While mainly focusing on Steam games, any standout sales may also be presented. I will not be updating every Daily/Weekly/etc. sale. The tools to help individuals become a smarter shopper will be provided below.

See this POST for links to store sale pages, threads of interest and other tools to help you become a more informed PC game shopper.

Easy free-to-play achievements

  • Zaccaria Pinball - anything with Time Machine table, arcade/sim modes but also Challenge, Checkpoint, Lamp Hunter, Target Eliminator
  • Dead or Alive 5 - change background music, display move list, display move details, play versus mode, save a replay, finish arcade/time attack/survival once (with separate ones for single and tag)
  • The Plan - hold up arrow for like five minutes
Pretty sure you can get all the achievements for DoA5 with the free characters.

What's the obsession with achievements in the thread? I missed that.

Chrono.gg has two new offerings arriving sometime today for 4,000 and 3,500 coins each. If the recent reveals are any indication logic suggests we shouldn't expect much beyond bundle fodder.

It's bizarre to me that anyone really cares about achievements.
I'm under no illusion that anyone cares about my own achievements, but I must admit that I enjoy seeing the little rectangle pop up when I've done something in-game. As a reward, it's admittedly worthless, though if I'm enjoying a game it is nice to have a visible milestone as I progress. When I'm done with a game that I enjoy, I'll usually try and get them if they are reasonable.

The best are those that notify you when you've done something unusual. Or the achievements themselves can have a comedic effect through clever references. I've seen some that are given out in such a way that it feels like it provides a level of interactivity between the developer and the player.

But yeah, no one's overly impressed by them and Steam doesn't do much to make getting them worthwhile. And after seeing those 7000 achievement-farm games, you can be sure that they won't.

Another option is Pinball Arcade. Sas and I both got the High Score achievement for the Dr. Who table (from season 6, which neither of us own) just for opening up the game.
Oh! I was wondering about that. I've gotten that achievement two days in a row and I don't own the table either.

Do any CAGs want to play... (KF2) ...again this Saturday?
Yeah, I would. I was doing some wacky custom maps last night, but I always have fun joining the bros for KF stuff and I'd be happy to try and help others get the prize. I didn't realize that they required it to be Suicidal. I guess that's because, unlike the last two weekly events, shrinking zeds don't pose much more of a threat.

It is funny to hear their tiny voices though.

Has anyone mentioned/noticed that Indiegamestand is down?

I see people mentioning it was down towards the end of May, but nothing recently.  Not sure if it's just bad luck that I tried to check now or if they've been down since then.

That's totally fair and I get that. And, sure, I'll agree that it can be fun to see an achievement pop up seemingly at random (versus "You finished a chapter") and see that it's for some weird thing. But a game that just pours achievements on you for touching keys is pretty much the diametric opposite of a game that gives you a little reward for peeking in a hidden window or brewing a pot of coffee in the zombie-infested base's kitchen.

Deck Building/Eliminating rouge lite card game dungeon crawler Monster Slayers is $4.99 at Bundlestars for 24 hours.

Link

I really enjoyed this one from that one Bundlestars bundle it was in. I have put 33 hours into it and intend to put more. It's fun but really hard and over those 33 hours I've got maybe 4 wins total. Highly recommend this game and it's a better price than currently on Steam.

Also of note, the Bundlestars deal comes with both DLCs, currently $4.67 on Steam.

Hell, the game itself is more expensive on steam right now... (Summer Sale is great!!)

Not sure if anyone cares but HotS has a summer thing going on and I got one of the legendary skins for it. (Not bad for a daily quest player.)

Also the brawl mode this week is wacked. Frankly, it might be a good bro event.

Edit: Anyone know if bundlestars has an active code?

Think codes don't work on deals of the day on Bundlestars. The DLC for Monster Slayers is an early unlock of second classes (get used to the 1st classes...they are better for the most part) and some extra dungeons and stuff. It's super fun. Easily best rouge-lite I've played in at least a year. I haven't played Dead Cells...but frankly that's still EA....though I got it from a Bundlestars deal as well haha.

Good enough for me... Somehow I got Monster Slayer daily deal for $4.74 (I did have dead cells, with 5% discount from the other day in my cart when I started... Maybe that was it?)

Hey guys, don't waste your money on the newest Call of Duty... take a look at some good old games. Anyway, these are the games that I purchased. Any feedback on the video appreciated.

Mount and Blade games are 75% off at Humble.  Matches Steam, but you get an additional 10% if you are monthly subscriber and 5% back to your wallet (or charity of choice if you do that).

Hey, very cool of you to make a video to share your purchases. I have to admit that I just skimmed through it a bit. The titles you highlighted all looked pretty good, though I did own those already, Had I watched the entire thing I might have seen some I didn't own.

You asked for feedback:

- I personally don't have the patience to watch a 13 minute video when, really, a single glance at a list would suffice. That's not really your fault... I don't have the patience for the new video fascination everyone has now and I'd much rather speed read to get my info. It takes me a fraction of the time. Ain't got time fo' dat! :speaktothehand:

- The commentary that I saw didn't add a lot to the video. Good job on including gameplay (though I could get that on the store page, I guess). You were kind of in a difficult position, in that you couldn't comment much on each game because you haven't played them yet.

I may not be your target audience since I'm not one of the video-crazed kids hanging out on the internet these days, so take my feedback with a grain of salt.

I like that you're creating content though, even if it's not my preferred medium.
