I love when people put an arbitrary time limit on when you should have something spoiled for you. YOU ARE A DICK - no it wasn't that I didn't know it but someone might not and that's a pretty big scene.

I think I got the new Star Wars movie spoiled for me just by a random fucking comment on a random page on the internet. I don't know if it's true or not but it still irks me.

Got some Lego Super Hero achievements last night, today it'll be FIFA 14 for the co-op D8 achievement challenge.

I learned this the hard way but it's worse because everything you bought that was from the x1 version everybody had access to that content.So what this means is now my 9 year old cannot access all them skin packs and themes that he once could on the x1 version.If he wants to get access to them again he would have to buy them on his account which is fucking bullshit for this new better together edition.
Seeing as I'm an awesome dad I loaded his account with 30 big ones and told him to go HAM!

I learned this the hard way but it's worse because everything you bought that was from the x1 version everybody had access to that content.So what this means is now my 9 year old cannot access all them skin packs and themes that he once could on the x1 version.If he wants to get access to them again he would have to buy them on his account which is fucking bullshit for this new better together edition.

Also the new version ("Better Together Update") also apparently has worse lighting, weird hit detection / weapon range against enemies, and some other stuff. Basically a lot of the problems with the "new version" is that its built off of the Pocket Edition instead of previous console versions or the Java PC version. So part of the advantage of getting a disk other than 2 for the price of 1 is that its also apparently the only way to get the original console version. On the flip side the new version has infinite worlds and crossplay.

I didn’t know it was a different build from the original Xbox one Edition. I’ll stick to the disc based version for sure

People keep saying Gears 4 has no horror like the first one did. That's not true at all. I'm glad you recognized this.
The Swarm are kidnapping living human beings, putting them in fluid filled sacs that slowly dissolve their bodies, and they come out of them as mutated monsters....and that's not even their final form! They just keep metamorphosing into something even more monstrous. If that's not horror, I don't know what is. That's actually scary as shit.

Edit: Ended up being two codes for Super Dungeon Bros, so both codes are gone now. Not sure why MS sent me three codes for the same game for Xbox Live Quests, but I guess I shouldn't bother with them anymore if it's the same game over and over again.

As for my TA 12 Days of Christmas, I finished up day 3 today (started the challenge late). I was having trouble finding some achievements with a 3.0 ratio or higher. Then noticed the Battlefront 2 single player free DLC was well above. Took maybe 45 minutes or am hour. I'm actually liking that they included the single player DLC. The rewards help a lot towards the multiplayer side. Between the 500 credits per mission and loot box for completion I think I ended up with 4k credits or so.

Been really digging Gears 4 MP the last week or so. Tried Horde tonight and remembered how ball-bustingly hard it is compared to previous games. Do you have any hope of succeeding in Horde before leveling up your class/skills? I'm only a lvl 4 engineer, my two friends I played with are lvl 2 or 3 scout and some other thing, haha. In previous games we could always clear 50 waves on normal and in this game the boss waves are pretty tough right away even on casual. Seems like they really want you to grind up your class and skills before you can really do well in it.

Related, I finally got Fortnite updated and went in to see what they added. Grabbed my dailies, checked in on the missions I sent my heroes on & checked out the event quests. Went into PvP, yeah bunch of the Battle Pass stuff but also bonuses for Founder's members in XP (or so I'm guessing). Played one Solo round and came in 5th out of 98. They changed everybody's control scheme on accident. I kinda like it but it was a bit to get used too right off the bat. Thankfully I sky dove into a few cabins in the woods where there were no people waiting in ambush lol. Cabin I landed on, also had a partially damaged roof so I could see the shiney weapons chest inside. Purple sniper rifle, Jackpot!

In the end I threw a smoke grenade and hid under someone's fortified tower like a MtG Cave Spider lol. Person came by and rappa tap tap, dead. :p Of course this activity gave me up and someone shot threw the wall of the tower and took me out. X(

Went into FIFA 14 today to get some needed co-op achievements and ended up playing Be A Pro mode for many hours. Lol, I got better as I played and it's hard to walk away from goals and celebrations. Also keeping up my stats overall was a welcome challenge. Getting back into FIFA was slightly to do with watching Premiere League games this morning.

I need to try and grab Rocket League Hoops achievements but I never really play that game mode. If anyone is interested to help out send me a message on Xbox Live. Believe it not I also need one for play RL with someone on your friend's list. The friends I know that play RL all have it for PC. I'm decent, still working on my air control though.

I always forget this, this was the last 3rd week of the month this year... anyone know what the Free Movie Weekend promo with Simple Mobile thing on our XB1 dashboard was all about? Forgot to go online this wknd and every wknd this was offered since it started so no idea what is about lol, seems like nobody else I know remembers to locate the promo box to see what we're missing out on during the wknd as well... The only thing online I could find about it is https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/movies-and-tv/collection/simple-specials-brought-to-you-by-simple-mobile/fh_freemovieweekend_december2017 but seems like the page has been deactivated coz we are viewing it too late lol.

Was it just a free rental or was it a movie u got to keep?

I’ve seen it a bunch of times and every time I click on it - even if it’s on the supposed weekend - I never see a free movie rental. Not sure if the thing is broken or what.

I think after over a year after the game's release, open discussion of the plot/details without spoiler tags is acceptable. If you haven't played GoW4 by now, you aren't invested enough in the fairly thin story for it to matter all that much to you. It is absurd for people to expect all that to be kept on the downlow indefinitely into the future for people that cannot be bothered to play it in at least a reasonable period after release.

I don’t know man. With movies, I could see a year or two being acceptable. But for games, there’s plenty of people who pick up stuff much later to save money. Just think it’s probably better to play it safe and use the spoiler tag of it’s a big reveal.

Agreed. I'm still trying to work through 2 year old games. As a matter of fact I haven't finished Gears 4. Luckily I'm not spoiler sensitive.

Holy crap. Cuphead just came out for iOS! Why would Microsoft allow this? Makes the Xbox “exclusive” much less so. I realize it probably doesn’t play as well on mobile but still kind of shitty.

Edit: Nevermind. It’s a scam. Wasn’t sure at first as there have been a lot of high profile ports of late on iOS.

I get giving people several months to at least be cautious. But if you want to save some money, you need to lower your expectations on secrecy. A year or two for anything is absurd. If you are that into it and want to go into it fresh, you have almost certainly seen it/done it by a year later or you simply aren't that affected by spoilers. Gear 4 has been on sale many times over the past year, and if you are the type that wants to toss it in your backlog for a couple years, don't expect everyone else to accept the responsibility to maintaining secrecy for you. That is your problem. Not everyone else that might want to discuss the details and get other's insights a year later without having to James Bond it.

The plot for Gears is definitely thin. I don't think it's a huge spoiler what was shared, and there aren't any major twists.

However, I recall everyone still being careful discussing Bioshock's plot in reference to the remasters and the disabled DVR, and there are people who never played it the first time around. So it's kind of relative, I'd hate to spoil the twists in that game for someone who hasn't played it.

If this was a Gears 4 thread then I could understand story/spoiler talk otherwise there is no reason for it. It takes a second to put something in spoilers for people who might not have played the game yet. This is a deals thread and people shouldn't be expected to have random games spoiled for them in it. I personally am not really bothered by spoilers but obviously some people are so use common courtesy.
 
Would be nice if they started the Christmas sale a little early — like tonight — and there’s decent new stuff and not retreads of the BF sale.

If deals were the ONLY thing ever discussed in here, I'd agree. But they're not. We go off topic from Monday at 9pm until Monday at 6pm. To expect people not to talk about plot in any of the games they play because someone may have gone 2 years without playing that game containing the plot they so greatly care about, is asinine. I do agree that spoiler tags are easy to use. But I think it's being blown out of proportion here.
 
The only things appearing to count down for date night are the Injustice 2 bundles, which will probably flip over to Gold only after the free play weekend.

A couple of the GTA with fish card bundles are counting down to midnight Eastern instead of midnight UTC.  Possibly the start of the countdown sale?
