So anyone else having trouble voting for the same game in multiple categories?

Edit: Appearently by design... and like all but one category has to have released in this year. Who plays that many new games?
Yeah, design. Been that way for years.

I just pick random stuff cause I almost never play anything the year it comes out. I did notice I could skip a couple categories this year, so that was nice.

Skipping didn't count toward "nominate a game in each category" for me. The whole time I was just thinking that there aren't many "new" games that are GOTY contendors that came out in 2022. I was lazy and ended up selecting a bunch of console ports (Spider-Man/God of War) or shit that was previously epic exclusive so I could get the level 4 badge

It said it would count and it did for me. I think it showed as counting after refreshing.

There has to be a "Skip" button though. I only saw the button on the "VR" and "On the Go" categories.

We all know how glitchy Steam gets during sale events, so wouldn't surprise me if it didn't work.

I was also doing it on the mobile app which was glitchy, so I guess that makes sense. Ever since they updated the app it's been glitchy as fuck for me

I know but its on sale to $35/30 on consoles.
I don't think this game bombed on PC though, sales-wise or critically.

It's also literally sitting at "Overwhelmingly Positive" on Steam.

It could be Sega wants to sell consoles versions...and/or retailers are trying to sell it & get rid of it.

Retail and digital scenes are usually not the same either.

SEGA and Valve likely got to have some agreement on Steam here for a deal to happen on Steam.

EDIT: Also, if it's selling well on PC at whatever price its at, why drop the price? Business 101 here.

Damn it why is there no good deals for Sonic Frontiers on pc.
There's currently less pressure to provide good deals on new games through digital distribution due to several factors that aren't necessarily worth going into here, which leads to overall slower downward trends in PC sale prices compared to physical console games.

I've ignored the voidu site and promos up to this point.  But FLASHSALE30 taking 30% from the prices matched to the steam sale looks.. extremely good?.  Grabbing RE2 ($7), MH Stories 2 ($14), and Nioh 2 ($21).

Just be aware that with Voidu you might be waiting a few days for your keys. I don't know if it's a payment authorization thing or what, but it's a common problem.

Skipping worked for me as well.
Wouldn't let me skip for the badge so I had to pick VR trash... or, well, I did select VR trash because I couldn't really be bothered.

(Honestly, gave thought to fillout the rest of my nomination by picking adult games with sex in the title but instead I just did warhammer titles.)

I made my first purchase with Voidu last night for Monster Hunter Stories and Bloodstained and both keys were available within a few minutes.

Some Demo Feedback:

Weird West - Its a little janky in terms of combat, but I like the vibes of Occult Cowboy.  $10 would have been a great price, but $20 is maybe a bit steep

The Keep - on a kick of dungeon crawlers, if this comes back up for $1 on Fanatical, I will get it

Crystal Project - I may buy this without a sale; FFV job system plus open world and crazy exploration elements?  Try the demo, its great!

Circadian Dice - A "dice builder" roguelike.  I really enjoy the premise, but the tech is weak.  It's stuck at 720p...

Operencia - Another dungeon crawler, but I really like the characters and its very pretty; I will get it later, though

1482 Shadows over Silesia: Historical isometric RPG, I think it has some heft, but the graphics likely will turn many off

Cardfight!! Vanguard Dear Days - Fun card game from the very poorly translated tutorial, but supremely overpriced

Zoria: Age of Shattering - Its indie Divinity Original Sin

Swordcery - A weird weapons based roguelike, I dig it

Lost Ruins - A solid, if not great, Metroidvandia

Astlibra - a labor of love Metroidvania that just needs to be sampled, it's so great I may buy it at full price

Against the Storm - Roguelike basebuilder... yup.  Great demo.

Pull Stay - Super weird tower defense/beat 'em up. It's Japanese AF.

Prime of Flame - SRPG Roguelike

Acretia Tactics - Feels kinda like a mobile game, but I did enjoy my time with the SRPG

Railroads & Catacombs - Maybe a similar vibe to Weird West, roguelike deckbuilder with lots of atmosphere

Vagrus - The Riven Realms: Choose your own adventure RPG set in a wasteland setting, I enjoyed my time with it

Hope that gives you something to play, since I know you're all not buying anything new with these prices...

I bounced off Weird West very quickly and it was because of the controls. Whether I used keyboard and mouse or a controller, it came across as clunky and never really felt "right". Which is a shame because it really looks like the kind of game I'd otherwise enjoy.

$20 No Man's Sky. I think someone was looking for a deal on this a little while ago.
Stupid question, is this a game that can be played with low sound while listing to podcasts?

In my own gaming news I got around to finishing Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. I did a massive amount of optional content before finishing it so it took about 29 hours for me to finish. (I also got hopelessly lost, or well nearly so I used the same save, so that added a few hours too.) Anyhow, really enjoyed the hell out of it. Easily one of the best modern Metroidvania I've played if not the best.)

This is very true and repeated complaint on Steam. For $10, I could see muddling through and using more stealth and the "bullet time" features to get around those issues. The settings have a very generous "snap to aim" for controllers, as well.

If it was a turn based game, everything else staying the same, it would be a 9/10 for me, maybe a 10/10. Everything else about the package is excellent.

Many would consider it better to buy something for $5 more when part of that actually goes to the game developers.  The $15 key probably came a reseller exploiting region-specific pricing.

In sum, Seedy Keys.

It's not that hard to avoid your game being listed on CDkeys. The dev/publisher is mostly responsible for that, so I'm ok with getting games cheaper from them. Sites like G2A are a bit different though and rely on third party sellers which may or may not be selling games bought with stolen credit cards or some other shady tactics so you take a bit more risk.

There are plenty of devs that avoid their games being listed on gray market sites entirely though, especially ones that only sell through steam, so I personally feel that it's fine to buy from them as long as you accept that there may be some risk involved.. although in my experience CDkeys has been fine and zero hassle

So got a tech situation on my PC. Pretty sure I know what it is but figured I would ask for second opinions. (Tech support isn't going to be around till Monday.)

Anyhow, all of a sudden the PC will get slow and turn it self off nor would it stay on for on. Lights woukd come on for a few and then it would kick off. If left alone after a while it would turn back on.

Classic overheating, getting into hardware monitoring software and the CPU is certainly cooking. GPU tempos are fine.

All the fans are running, virtually dust free, looking at fan settings, it's in performance mode not silent mode (or manual) but the PC is water cooled so my guess the water isn't circulating in the radiator. There's no evidence of a leak.

Anyone else think its water cooked unit? (Or maybe more on point does anyone think it's anything other than the CPU cooler?)

Has anyone troubleshoot one of these watercoolers? (Its an MSI watercooler.)

Sounds like your water pump died in the aio, or a build up in the lines blocking flow. This is why AIO water coolers arent the greatest, more moving parts that can fail. From the sounds of your TSing steps you hit the nail on the head with it being your water cooler.

Curious how high the temps are that we're talking about here. I'm gonna guess it's approaching triple digits? But yeah, it sounds like it's throttling and eventually shutting down so it's gotta be the watercooler. Can you tell if the pump itself is still working? Do you have it set up in a way where you can read the pump speed through your monitoring software? Is it making any noise at all, whether it be normal or abnormal?

Try moving the pump connector to a different header?

Try moving the radiator to see if it's air bound?

Do you have a spare air cooler you could try, even to just sit on top of the cpu?

Seems a bit odd. I had an old 1st gen Xeon that would peg at 99+ (due to the heatsink not actually making proper contact - long story) that would throttle, but never shut off. Ran that way, unbeknownst to me for better part of a year.

Yeah, I wouldn't have a water cooler if it wasn't a pre-built... My 970 ran PC finally died early this year and the only way to get a new video card was to go through a scalper or buy a pre-built.

My first thought was to rip out the water cooler and replace it with an air cooler but the water cooler has leads going to a number of connectors on the MB, that's not really scary, but taking off the other side panel to track down one of the leads led to a small board that I have no idea what it is or what it does. It's a super board. Not the underside of the MB so u stopped to think on it. I really need to drag out the box and find the paperwork but I've been lazy so far.

Temps were at 97-99. Never saw triple digits but I didn't spend much time with it on to see if it would climb higher.

Have no idea if the pump is still working, I don't hear great but I'll given it a listen too the next time turn it on. The PC was standing upright, has since been laid on its side, but I'll unscrew the radiator from the back and let it move about to try and free up a possible clog, but I'll be honest. The pipes the water go through are pretty beefy. I'm not sure how a clog could form outside of at a filter... but it seems to be a closed system so I don't think there's a filter. (So I suspect it's a pump issue. Maybe ill boot it up and try to hear a pump before doing anything else.)
