Where is the weekly ad?
They ended the weekly ad for more rotation of deals. Please check the homepage and deal link for the current deals.

I can't find a trade in value for an item?
It might not be tradable or calling a store to find the value may be the only option.

How many copies of a game can I trade in?
You are allowed to trade in 4 copies of the same game (same system) within a rolling 30 day period.

Are there trade limits?
Yes, $500 cash minus some electronic trade ins and or $2000 trade credit in a rolling 30 day period.

Can I use the $5 monthly coupon on gift cards?

Yes you can in store but not online please note not all gift cards will apply to this rule.

I have a $XX.xx pre-owned reward certificate, and I want to use it on a B2G1 transaction. Should I?
It depends. If the three games are equal value, do not use your certificate. The value of the certificate would be applied to the free game, which would not benefit you. If one game is more expensive, you can use the certificate to make it the same value as the other two games ($5 reward certificate applied to transaction with two $10 games and one $15 game would make all three games $10).

TERMINOLOGY AND LINGO:
ASL/SL: Assistant Store Leader, Store Leader; manager positions at GS.
B2G1: Buy two, get one free.
GS: GameStop
JD: Junior detective, an employee who is out to get someone
LP: Loss Prevention; this is the department that actually bans accounts after being flagged.
TC/TiC: Trade credit.
TIV/TV: Trade in value, or what a game currently trades for. When posting a TV for a game, always use the base value.

3ds prices are so insane to me. How theyve stayed that high is absolutely wild. I cant remember a 'last gen system' ever staying at and even going above its going rate since being retired.
You know, I was thinking about this the other day, DS and 3DS, given their unique features, touchscreen, dual screen, 3d, etc. are probably going to be quite difficult to duplicate on future platforms and thus will be decidedly limited in future emulation and/or remastering. We’ve seen some for sure but I bet there’s going to be a lot of clamoring for that system into the future because of how unique it was as a platform.

Helps that it's hard to replicate the play style (emulators can only do so much for the dual screen in your hands play style), playing DS and 3DS games and being one of the easiest systems to hack.

We know Nintendo isn't going to make another DS style system (at least in this type of format) so it's this or poor imitations.

Laughing at Switch 2 "Dual Screen" rumors. Also, anyone else still have their Game Boy Player for Gamecube? I remember being a dumb kid who asked his parents to buy him one at Walmart for $49.99 just because the display box showed off Pokemon. Smart he hasn't sold it. Expensive af now, the disc.

I would LOVE if they somehow made a DS player for switch 2 lol. pipe dreams tho.

Get a steam card and put it toward a SteamDeck?
i think they have caught on to and stopped this recently iirc. but he could buy a refurbished steam deck from gamestop when they become available. i believe they have recently caught on to and stopped this practice, if I recall correctly. however, he could purchase a refurbished steam deck from gamestop when they become available. additionally, when i bought the original steam deck with steam cards, gamestop only permitted the store to sell approximately $250 worth of cards. they then informed me that there was a 3-6 hour cooldown period, employees were transparent with me about this and showed me their pos with the message

It’s always so hard & tiring to find a DG that will honor those deals.

How do you mean? You talking about trying to get a higher dollar amount? If so, I would somewhat agree that some stores are awful for that. But for those with DGs in the area, they're usually as plentiful as GameStops once were. So if one store drags their feet, I just visit the next one around the corner.

I really miss their self-checkout kiosks when it came to GC deals. No fuss whatsoever, and in and out in like five minutes.

No I’ll go to one & they’ll have some excuse as to why they won’t honor it for just the base amount.

In my experience, anything under $100 (on any GC) and DG staff typically don't bat an eye. However, I have had issues with trying to get larger amounts on a single card. And the reasons seem to vary from manager to manager. Some claim it's a system issue, others say it's a fraud issue. I've had some say I can only use debit or cash for larger totals, as opposed to credit. Assume those saying so have gotten burned with people disputing transactions after the fact.

We ran into the above issues this past holiday season when capitalizing on Lowe's GCs. Wanted to upgrade some appliances and had the chance to stack holiday sales with the DG sale. Lowe's cards were the same as GameStop's cards, programmable from $25 to $500. Got shot down at a few stores trying to buy $500. Luckily we have like 8 or stores in a fifteen minute radius, so we were able to go elsewhere to get it sorted.

Apparently bonus coupons were added to targeted accounts today. I have an expired elite account that received the following email:

Yep, same here.
Merry Christmas GIF

(Finally) In the market for a PS5 Disc edition. Would it be better to get the $419 Sam's Club deal or bother with a refurb from Gamestop? With discounted GCs and pro it would be about $50 cheaper for the refurb at GS. I've only bought new systems from GS before though.

Anyone have thoughts on the refurb vs. pre-owned system offerings from GS?

Check your local pawn shop. If you got cold hard cash they will work with you

All my local pawn shops suck for systems. Games are sometimes another story.

I'll probably hold out for that, Astrobot seems fun. The Sam's Club one I was thinking I might try to offload the Fortnite stuff for a few bucks somewhere.

I received 3 coupons
25% off okay and charge kit
$5 off PlayStation portal screen protector
$10 off PlayStation charge station.

Does anyone know if these would stack with the $5 monthly ?

EDIT: found more stores, 22 more stores set to close:

Thanks for the info. Sycamore I have as closed already, but Foothills closing is new.
No problem. The way I found out about Sycamore being closed and Foothills closing soon is wild. Someone from the Foothills store called and left a message yesterday. Basically my preorder of WWE 2K25 had been transferred from Sycamore to Foothills. The guy said they had received their shipment and it’ll be available on Friday. The store is closing on Saturday so no trade-ins, only outright payment. Going in tomorrow to cancel the preorder.

You just reminded me that I have to swipe right on the active offers via the app to see the others. Got all those EXCEPT the 10% off coupon on both accounts, smfh.

I ended up finding more stores closing, updated my post, 22 stores total closing end of this week.

Kind of crazy when you look at the numbers for GS:, they had more than 6,000 in 2015 (globaly)..this is per Google Search (becuase I was curious).

Granted this is as of February 2024 GameStop operates a total of 4,169 in the United Stares, 203 in Canada, 404 in Austrailia, and 647 in Europe.

They closed 287 stores in 2024 (sorry couldn't find a breakdown of that)

Based on my data, 2266 stores remain in the US after this weekend. Europe only has France left which they are looking to sell along with Canada, i have no idea on numbers for those countries. Then there is Australia and New Zealand, which I imagine they'll likely close down or sell sometime in the near future.

Edit: found this older spreadsheet with some data points

I guess it's true...everything is bigger in Texas (with 300 stores) :ROFLMAO:
