Anyone think it’s weird that the Switch 2 going preorder next Thursday yet Nintendo themselves say they aren’t even sending invites to people to preorder till May 8th? It means the main retailers BestBuy etc, are gonna be slammed.

You say that like the preorders weren't originally supposed to be on April 9th lol

Idk, Nintendo's method is a good option or backup for those that want to avoid competing with scalpers. I don't think people waiting till May 8th will mind much if it guarantees a preorder.

What Nintendo is doing is what good business do for their retail partners. They give them a head start so people turn to those stores and those stores in return give Nintendo shelf space for games and hardware. It's good for everyone involved including the consumer that there are more places than just direct from Nintendo to buy games and systems.

I don't think those retailers are going to be upset they are getting a lot of sales. It would be weird if they were bothered by getting first crack at the customer base.

Guess we'll all find out this upcoming Thursday how much of a rat race it's gonna be to obtain a system etc

I also started with one of those hori dpad attachments. It didn't hold up over time. Instead of replacing it, I learned how to swap shells. I imagine it's only a matter of time until we have extremerate dpad shells for the new console. That's the way to go.

Iirc it's because left ones were more prevalent issues with stick drift.
I think it was for the D-Pad & still Yea of course.. but then we were all stuck with only the left Joycon Zelda design that looked great and no matching Zelda right joycon to make your Switch look like you put on to different pairs of shoes

Hopefully lock down a MK bundle and preorder Donkey Kong and get Cyberpunk since it's all on cart. Might preorder one or two other things just to cover my ass since games and accessories will be the hard to come by stuff and decide on release whether I really want them or not.

How many here as of right now are preordering a Switch 2? I'm not.
I typically buy consoles at/around launch save for some exceptions like waiting for a new color for the GCN or buying a cheap used Dsi.

But, nah. Switch 2 isn't particularly novel or exciting and I'm iffy on the game key cards. Plus, the next year for the Switch looks more promising so far and my $47 preorder for MP4 should still be valid according to the Best Buy cs rep. Hard to find a reason to upgrade right now, with the mouse controller being the current most compelling thing about it.

Basically, I can wait for Mario Kart to hit ~$40 before I buy it.

Metroid Dread is pretty good! Can't believe I didn't play this one until now.

very Super Metroid-y.
This and Luigi's Mansion 3 are what made me finally pull the trigger and buy a switch. After I got one I wished I had bought it earlier. I play it more than my PS5 and ended up buying a Portal to play PS5 handheld as well.

Is that a Jojo reference?

It's a better deal at Target if you have the red card because you'll get a 5% discount.

I'm going to just wait until tomorrow and if they have them at BB, I'll get one from them. If not, I'll wait for Nintendo. If nintendo fails, I'll wait until they show up in walmart locally. I'm not going to make any special effort beyond that.

Does anyone have a guess on how many preorders will happen? I still maintain it's too expensive and will be easily available after launch. I don't think it will be difficult to find at all.

I just hope Target lets me preorder 2 of them with my red card. My son has saved up $500 and wants his own MK Bundle and I want the MK Bundle too.

I just had to pay $600 for a part to fix my wife's car, so $500 for a console that will bring me years of joy doesn't seem to bad.

Had to resubmit the final confirmation on target about 20 times over 5min, but I got an order in. 5% redcard, 2% cashback link, $5 target circle reward, and triggering another $10 target circle reward after purchse. Still feels very overpriced, but it's fine since I did pretty well selling all my nsw1 consoles locally at the end of 2024.
