I wasn't going to reply anymore as the sale has ended (a bit too soon if you ask me but that's life, lots of people missed out on it sadly :( ) but I guess I should - the 360 Controller works fine in the Trine Demo (1.03), at least on the stand-alone demo that can be found on the game's website...
