Anyone else see Mr. Brooks?

I just got back from the theater where I saw the new Kevin Costner/Demi Moore/William Hurt/Dane Cook movie Mr. Brooks. Grrrrrreeeeeaaaat flick. Very un-Costner. Had some very inventive gore, but not so Tarantino all about the gore, inner conflict, intrigue, didn't guess the ending half way through (always a plus, since I usually guess the "twist").

I would absolutely recommend it.

One of the trailers was for the new movie 1480, a John Cusack film based on the short story by Stephen King (phenomenal story, by the way). Something else to look forward to.

What!?! I didn't know about this. John Cusack kicks ass!

No, and I probably won't. Having Dane Cook in it just about ruins it for me.

Unless he isn't in the movie for very long?

I want to see it, but with a newborn I don't think I will get the opportunity to see it untill it hits dvd format

I was just about to start a thread on this myself, the movie was great! I haven't been impressed with any movies in a long time but this one did it, I also couldn't guess the ending , pacing was well done regardless since it seemed like that two hours flew by. Unfortunately at least in this area I don't think it is doing so hot, theater was practically empty.

Don't let that stop you. Some whore brought her newborn to Knocked Up and it was crying at the beginning of the movie. Like a miracle, though, it shut up after that for the entire movie.

Hey, prmononoke, I saw your post in the DDD thread, and I'm not sure if anyone addressed it, but that Lone Wolf and Cub boxset you linked to is priced at DDD for $83.39. You originally said it was $89.62 and that Amazon had it for $83.49.

If you buy it at DDD with the 20% code you can get it for $16.68 less. It would be $66.71, I believe.

Nor did I, until the trailer. It looks really good, too, and I'm a huge King buff. Samuel L. Jackson's in it too.

Dane Cook was actually quite good in the part as a twitchy little weird guy. He's in it for a fair amount, but he completely fills the needs of the character. Hands down, the best parts are Costner and Hurt, though. Creepy, intellectual, great.

The theater here was packed to the gills, but I did note that most people were, like my husband and me, in their 30s or over. The Knocked Up movie had a line of younguns. We'll probably see it, but we knew it would be hugely packed with schools getting out and whatnot. Heck, I'm just thrilled that our massive theater isn't showing only four movies with the Pirates/Spidey/Shrek monopolies.

And actually, when my kids were newborns, I'd take them to movies all the time. They don't care, and they usually sleep. It's when they're older that it's heinous.

She must have great parenting skills. Here's to that great parent having more!!

I'm debating seeing this or Knocked Up. The movies lately have sucked... but they've all been sequels, so I'm thinking something completely original may be the shot in the arm I need to make it through the next sequels I'll undoubtedly be dragged to.
