well the stray cats just brong over their kittens once again and they are getting up into the engine of the car (lying on top)

i learned long ago to always check the engine before starting it (we had strays for around the last 10 years)

lucky this time its only 2 kittens (so its easy to keep track of)

is there any way to keep them from climbing up there

thanks

Cut their legs off.

Start the car up. With the kittens still inside.

Or a nice bowl of antifreeze on top of the engine.

j/k, I have nothing against the little ones...

I 2nd rabbitt's suggestion, slidecage. Use something really sharp so its not so.. painful on your eyes. :D
Why don't you report the cats to animal control or some animal shelter? Leaving them in the wild just means more stray kitties.
This guy needs all the friends he can get.

I don't think too many people wanna stick to him like a cat would. ;)

cause they pound is overcrowed and all they would do is kill them.

instead of killing the animals maybe if they offered people to get Stray animals fixxed for free it would sovle the problem.

Wasn't there a post of a newsstory recently about a cat being found on the side of the road with burns after hitching a ride inside an engine compartment?

Have you played Trauma Center? If so I see a possible job in your future.

I heard about this a lot when I use to live in Miami, FL. Something about the car engine keeping them warm over night and that they are attracted to the heat from the engine. How they get inside and find a spot to rest is beyond me. I am trying to think where would they hide/rest that once you turn on the engine it would be instant kitty death.... hmm..The main fan? belt?

The Main Fan. I know because I had one Cat climb up into my Trucks engine and got his tail cut off by the fan. Fortunately other then losing his tail he was fine.

Our cat hitched a ride with my mom to work one day in the engine compartment, luckily it was ok and nothing happened to it at all. When my mom got out of her car at work the poor thing was crying.

Yea it was probably terrified to hear this loud dirty thing roar up and shake and see the ground below moving at a high speed. If I was that thing I would be afraid to move until the engine shut off or someone rescued me.

We had stray cats rampant throughout our yard/lawn/cars and it drove us effing nuts. My dad nailed one of the bastards with carb cleaner and it never returned. The others still remained so I just poured out some coyote piss around the yard and it keeps them away no questions. Once they know they can become a tasty snack they avoid the place like the plague.

that happen to me a few years back. I took off (it was before we started getting kittens. I told my cousin i could swear i heard a cat crying. Turned down a side road popped open the engine and was the 2 cuties kittens you ever seen. my cousin took one and i took the other .

they were lucky cause a few days later our neighbor said he had to hit a kitten in the head with a shovel to kill it after it got caught up in the engine.

he said it was the only thing he could do to put it out of its pain. I guess it was mangled real bad.

i used to read something about some type of jelly or that vapor rub (when you have a cold) that you could wipe on the wires, but i dont know if that really works

it should only be a few weeks before i dont have the problem hopefully. I would say these kitten are around 3 months (Shocked they didnt come over before now) and they are sort of big to climb up in the engine (None of the bigger cats do it)

Yea, I hate those cats when they go on the car! Arghhh! I kick them a few times and even throw them in the trash and they keep coming back for more.......

Not to sound cruel or anything..but your neighbor could have suffocated it to put it down. Hitting it with a shovel, you risk not only causing it more pain, but some serious damage to your engine. I am glad he didn't pull out a gun a shoot the thing.

Some people are just plain stupid.

i think the cat fall out and was on the ground twisting in pain. or something not sure he just said that the cat got caught up in the engine and he had to hit it in the head with a shovel to put it out of its pain.

talking about shooting the car did you hear about the person who shot himself in the leg Trying to shoot a lugnut off his tire.

He told the cop he couldnt get it off so he tried shooting it off LOL got buckshot in his legs LOL

When I worked at a hardware store I was amazed that you could buy different kinds of animal urine to ward off smaller animals. So what happens if the Coyote urine attracts coyotes!? Then you go buy some Lion piss? You can also drink goat piss to train for next years Beerfest.

He is also lucky that someone didn't see him do it as they might have reported it to Animal Control/Cops and reported animal abuse. If I was in that situation, I would have tried to find a way to pull that sucker out. Some people would have their engine pulled apart to free the cat, but with very little chance that cat will survive ... it's not worth getting some mechanic to take your engine apart to free it.

As for the guy who shot himself trying to shoot off the lugnut, sounds like it needs to be explored on Myth busters :)

 this is the correct answer.

I'm guessing he would be wise not to try to plant the urine of various animals around his yard. His poor dog refuses to go to the bathroom once it's dark.

It's already croweded as it is with a couple of kittens and a few hundred horses under the roof!

You can trap them and dump them far way. That's what I used to do at my parents farm. But at times I ended up catching oppossums! Nasty little shits they are!!! (I called the big one bitey)^_^

I put lemon juice or cayenne pepper on my fence to keep the neighbors cat out of my yard. The neighbors cat always shits (and doesn't bury it) in my back yard because it is feuding with my cat over territory with this cat----->

Cats hate citrus and cayenne so you could apply some to the entry point of your engine (if it's feasible). I got some cayenne pepper at the dollar store.

It could be worse my friends mother leaves her car window cracked open on hot days and twice cats gave birth to kittens in the car and the mother cats have run away when she opens the door.

You seriously check your engine for cats - every time - before you start your car?

Cats are weird. My cat used to, for about a month sleep on top of this recliner we had, and he would fall off it about five or six times a day, and would just jump right back up after he fell off. I would be watching tv or on the computer and hear a thump and see him jump right back up. He slept or tried sleeping there for a month before he found a new place to sleep for a while. Damnit I miss him.
