Ape Escape 2 vs 3?

I've gotten Ape Escape 3 in the mail and I've never really played any of the series. I thought about Goozexing all 3 and starting with the PSX original but realistically I'll never play all of them. But it is practical that I might play both 2 AND 3. Or can I just skip 2 and enjoy 3? Any comments?
 
I played 2 and loved it. The original was the first game to require the dual shock because you used both sticks to move and attack. Which was something special for its time but not as ground breaking now. The game is geared toward younger gamers (which is probalby why they are voiced by the people from pokemon) but the humor is good. From what I have heard 3 is good but similar to the others, so if you enjoyed playing that Id suggest getting 2. If you dont like it, youll probably not like 2 or 1.

Monkey slapping his ass to taunt you is classic.
 
I played all 3 games and loved them.

Really, there is no over-arching story arch to the games, where you have to play them in any order. So, if you pick up 3, you'll be pretty much at home (I think they'll be a cameo appearance that you might not care about, but no harm done).

I would say play 2-3 because both are fun/excellent games. But, if you only want to play one of them, and you already have 3, I'd just pop it in and enjoy.
 
I loved 2. When 3 came out I was really excited to play it, but it just didn't have the same appeal as 2. IIRC the monkey names weren't special/funny like the way they did in 2. They're both fun games though.
