Bioshock for PS3 - Confirmed

CAGiversary!
http://blog.megascorcher.com/2007/11/confirmed-bioshock-coming-to-ps3-in-08.html

2K Boston (Irrational) let the news slip out today that the ultra popular Bioshock is indeed coming to the PS3, labelled with a "Spring 2008" release. Speaking with some one on the "inside", he told us the project was always slated for a PS3 release. It was just a matter of waiting for the timed exclusivity to expire.

So taking that in mind, Spring is slightly over 6 months from the 360's release date, so we'll assume the deal was for 6 months.

Microsoft knows what they're doing, 6 months is perfect, every one who's wanted to play it, has already. So that leaves so little people for the PS3 version, but we'll see how it does next year.

Cool. Now all I need is Mass Effect and Too Human.

Cool. I wanted to get the 360 version, but didnt in the end as i was [am] playing far too many games at once. I'm definitely down for the PS3 version.

So in Spring of 08 Ps3 gets Little Big Planet, Bioshock, Metal Gear Solid, GTA IV, Killzone 2 AND possible Infamous? My oh my I better save up now.

Very nice. I'm very excited for this. Now I don't have to harrass my roommate anymore to buy a 360, or harrass him as much.

You know, I hadn't thought of that. Crap.
Anyone besides me think MS just lost their best exclusive game?
Not the best exclusive game, but certainly one of them.

I'm mildly looking forward to this, but as previously stated, the Spring 2008 PS3 lineup sure is a doozy.
Anyone besides me think MS just lost their best exclusive game?
I most definitely think it was in the top 3. For some odd reason, i wanted it more for the PS3, glad it was only a timed exclusive.

All the PS3 needs is Mass Effect and you can call it a draw between the two libraries. Ken Levine has been quoted as saying he didn't like the end sequence/final boss in Bioshock - maybe they'll use the extra time to fix a few things.

I suggest renting it to all the people who still haven't played it. After I completed it, I had no reason to go back and play through it again. The only reason my friend played it through twice was for achievement points. Bioshock is a must play game.
Pretty cool news. For those who have beat it. Around how many hours does it take to beat?
15-20, but I've read some people beat it in 8-10.
Time to sell my Xbox 360 copy I have while the price is still decent...
good idea i rather play the game on ps3

In spite of some criticisms I receive for having this opinion, I simply enjoy the Dualshock style controller better than any other controller I've used.

It will be fun to try this game on the PS3 (I played the demo on 360... thought it was fun....)

Um, I honestly don't care one way or the other, but is there some other source other than a blog called "Megascorcher" that has reported this? That site doesn't source it to anything else, and I have yet to see this anywhere else. It seems that site may be reporting rumor as news just to get more hits.

Again, I don't really care (as I already played Bioshock and own both the 360 and PS3), but this definitely seems like it should be taken with a grain of salt.

interesting. I hope there's an expansion pack for the game around that time as well.

Awesome. Someone has a blog.com account, reports a story without a source (other than someone on the "inside") and now we're considering this confirmed.

The internet is awesome.

Wake me up when the actual 2K Boston quote arrives.

Seconded.

Like others are saying, there is no DEFINITE truth to this, but I think it is most likely true. There was some code containing PS3 in the release of the game. And honestly, what publisher/developer doesn't want to make more money on a great game?

Not possible. Both of those are being published by Microsoft, so, you do the math.

Anyways, I can't believe that only 4 people in this thread have applied the moment of critical thought that it requires to realize that this is a completely unsourced story from some podunk blog that no-one's ever heard of, and say anything other than "awesome, glad to see it's coming to PS3, I'll have to pick it up."

Sure, Bioshock PS3 is possible, but random blogs (which are often desperate for hits) posting unsourced, sensational stories that they know will get them lots of hits is a far cry from confirmation.

It was a bit hokey, and far too easy.

If they sell the game on the PS3 as it is right now and at $60, I won't buy it.
If they sell the game with a large amount of added content at $60, I'll surely buy it.
If they sell the game with few improvements for $30, I may buy it.

Regretfully, the first case seems most likely.

I always wonder why people buy one system, and then post on the internet how badly they want other system's games ported to their system. If you wanted 3 360 games, why didn't you get a 360?

There are HUGE threads over this at a few PS3 fansites.
I always wonder why people buy one system, and then post on the internet how badly they want other system's games ported to their system. That same person might only be able to afford one platform or prefer to not have several game platforms to play.

It's all about the system, not the games. Christ, where's your brand loyalty? You game slut.

Well Lost Planet is getting extra content, so we can hope, right?

Mebbe. I'll have to see what the extra content on LP is, and also consider that, if they release it at $60 on PS3 (since it's already $30 on 360), ask myself if it's worth that price.
Anyone besides me think MS just lost their best exclusive game?
Nobody buys Xbox 360's to play Bioshock anymore.

No, I don't think so, because this is just a sourceless rumor.

Also, Bioshock was never 360 exclusive. It's on PC, ya know (and much better there, in my opinion).

We'll talk when Metal Gear Solid 4 comes out...

well EXCUSE ME, for not specifying "console exclusive."

And while the source may seem iffy, the last rumor I throw away becuase it was on a blog was Bungie leaving MS, and look how that turned out.

.....RedVSBlue I lost you...

It's not like getting the rumor wrong is going to kill thousands of orphans. I take rumors with a grain of salt... most people do... the fact that they don't get online and debunk everything like the Amazing Randi doesn't mean everyone's "bought into" the rumor. If it comes to the PS3, I'll play it. I am not interested and impatient enough to _have_ to have it now on 360 (I don't own a PC), so if it comes out... neat. If not, no harm done.

Why waste time over-analyzing rumors like the prophecies of Nostradamus or something? It's merely a game. :)

I'm not buying anymore 360 games... because most of them are going to come out on PS3.. I might as well wait... basically I wasted 50 dollars on this game for 360. I need some Mass Effect, and Ninja Gaiden II rumors!
:whistle2:s
a macman perhaps?
I need some Mass Effect, and Ninja Gaiden II rumors!
Microsoft publishing deals notwithstanding, let's all look forward to Ninja Gaiden 2 Sigma exclusively on PS4!

lol damn! you know... by changing the name, that does make it like a "new" title.. Ninja Gaiden II is for the 360 whereas the Sigma series of Ninja Gaiden is for the PS3.
When I saw this thread at 3 pages I knew there was going to be some sort of argument in it.
 That's always the case here over any game that is exclusive at one point (or will remain).
