okay, so i have a LOT of videogame magazines. like, ridiculous. i'm sure there are bigger collections out there, but i've got a couple hundred magazines from a variety of gaming publications over a time span of several (6-10?) years in a range of conditions that go from pristine to chewed by an animal and stepped on repeatedly. This includes most of the run of the US Official Dreamcast Magazine, a few pokemon trading card price guides, possibly the last issue of EGM^2, a bunch of expert gamers, and god knows what else.
I really need to do something with/about them. they're just kinda sitting there, and even though it's a blast to go back and thumb through the "sneak peek" of Zelda 64 with the funny looking Staflos, I really do think that they could be put to better use.
SO, i've considered selling them piecemeal on ebay, having a garage sale, and just plain recycling them. My problem with these actions is that the historian complex in me wants them to be preserved in some form and the me sees a whole lot of tedium in sorting through/listing every single item which may or may not even sell, I pose this question to you CAGs -- where can i send my magazines?
One thought I had was a project that i'd heard about to scan every single videogame magazine, ever.
My second thought was donating them to a military organization, for the troops overseas.
my only hangups would be paying for shipping for god knows how many pounds of paper. i've thought of setting up a chipin once i foind out weight/shipping rates for sending to troops, or to someone for the scanning process.
ideas? suggestions?
