Coca-Cola has learned something from Pepsi's failure

I say this because Coca Cola is introducing Coke Blak in 2006. Its a coffee flavored soda. As some of you may know I have an obsession with Pepsi's previous attempt at coffee soda, Pepsi Kona (I tend to mention it in every soda thread).

Read the Coke Blak article:

Gaze in horror at Pepsi Kona:

pepsi-kona.jpg

Edited the title to reflect my change in opinion

I never saw the Pepsi kona around me at all. In that article they mentioned coca-cola C2 that stuff was so bad that grocey stores aroune me were selling six-packs for .50 cents, I hope I get to try this though. It does not sound all that great but worth the .35 cents to try a can.

My dad works for Coke and I just asked him if theres anything else weird coming. He said they're bringing Tab back but it might be some sort of energy drink. Coca Cola also owns Nestle and he mentioned theres going to be some candy flavored milk drinks coming, possibly under new flavors of Quik.

I'd give it a try, I personally can't stand the taste of coffee, but its one of those things I'd have to try at least once just to say that I did.

I fall into this group.
Wish they didn't cancel Vanilla Coke, I'd have liked to mix the two.
Crap, I loved vanilla coke. I just picked some up on sunday. Are you sure?

Bleh. . . i wish i would have tried pepsi kona though. them shits sounds delicious.

Pepsi + Coffee = sounds good.

Coke + Coffee = sounds disgusting.

I think i'll make some coffee right now.

ah oh well...vanilla pepsi was the good one anyway.
Hell, what's next? Pepsi Honey or Coke with melon?:booty:
In South American countries they have Coke w/ Guava. I did a business project on Coca Cola in college and I discovered that they make ALOT of weird ass drinks around the world (including their fruit juice, water, and coffee sub-brands).

I remember going to Disney World a few years back, and there was a big Coke "igloo" with a bunch of their international stuff. There was some pretty good stuff in there.

SIDE NOTE:

In the latest People & Sports illustrated magazines there's a coupon for 2 free 20oz of Coke. One regular & One Coke "Zero". You don't have to buy ANYTHING!!!

I guess they're trying to prove that they taste the same.

Tab is still around but its really really hard to find. You might have to special order it.

So a failure from 15 years means a failure today? When there is 3 starbucks in the mall and kids drink it like crack? I hate Coke but think this is a good idea.

Had a Coke Blak today. Want to know what its like? Take a half a cup of coffee and fill it the rest of the way with vanilla coke. Not bad, very different.

I have yet to see it in a store.

I tried some, but didn't like it at all.

Vanilla Coke is going away? That sucks. I bet if they had hit the vanilla mix right (there's not enough vanilla in it. They need more if they really want it to be a classic 70's diner vanilla coke) it would have sold a lot better.

Ew coffee and cola? People do this?

If I wanted a rush I'd drop a Red Bull into the neck of a 40oz. Tastes like cream soda. It's amazing. I don't even like Red Bull. Only problem is, once you have one, you're kinda jacked and want to hop in the car to buy another.

So, my advice, buy two.

Most energy drinks suck. Whats up with kids obsession with Red Bull these days. Tastes like pink ass. ANyways yeah i bought some Coke Blak. Basicly you know those botted Starbucks frappicinos? Or basicly cold coffee, yeah just like that only carbonated. I wouldnt reccommend it.

Yep, that's exactly how I described Coke Blak to my girlfirend. I don't think I'll be buying more of it anytime soon.

I think it's great! It kind of reminds me of my late, lamented favorite soda, Royal Crown Draft (not that RCD had coffee in it, just a sense memory). It's too damn expensive, though. The first night it was available, Safeway had it for $1.99 a four-pack. I only got one since I didn't know if I would like it. When I went back the next day, they'd raised the price back to $5.99.

Thanks for bumping this back up. I meant to comment on it. I had a bottle of it over the weekend and I completely retract my previous statement. This soda actually tastes quite good. Pepsi's version had sucked because it was all about the coffee taste and not so much the cola. This is the opposite. To me it tasted oddly like a chocolate/caramel soda. And I'll agree with adamsappel statement that it's expensive. It cost $1.05 for a tiny little bottle that probably didnt even have the same fl oz as a can.

They just started selling by me, but only in 8 oz bottles for $1 :(

I think the real question is ... how is it with vodka and a splash of half n half?

Vodka makes everything better .. except for house fires.

Coke Blak isn't too bad. Tried it myself this past weekend. You can buy it in singles or a 4-pack, but the bottles are small (i think 8 or 10 oz size) and not really worth the money in my opinion, unless you have a coupon like I did to get $1 off a 4-pack (regular price is around $3.99).

As for the Tab energy drink, we have these at grocery stores here. I haven't tried them, but they are similar in size to Red Bull, and come in the traditional pink and white color. They are also sold in 4-packs. They also seem to be selling rather well.

That's what I was thinking... if there's a time for coffee-flavored cola, it's defintely NOW.

I had a Blak yesterday, I really liked it. I wish it'd become a new regular flavor. It had a mild coffee taste, and was a little chocolaty also.

I've had it, and liked it. But then I'm also the soda liker of doom. Nearly everything that I really like gets pulled;

Crystal Pepsi
Coke C2/Pepsi Edge
Kona Pepsi
Orange Mountain Dew
Surge
RC Edge
Diet Jolt
and the list can go on and on and on....

Ever been to the Coca-Cola museum in Atlanta? Its like the promised land of fountain drinks. They have a room with soda fountains of every type of soda they make. It was actually pretty awesome, and they do make some weird crap in Europe and South America.
