CAGiversary!
This Sunday, I got outvoted 2-1 in favor of getting Domino's Pizza. This was one of those "rainy outside-trapped-inside-I'm starving to death" votes/discussions where voices get raised and everyone is tense as hell. You've got what used to be a friend staring in your face with his (bad) hunger breath yelling at you, "Who the
gets linguicia and bell peppers?! You're so weird. What the hells wrong with you?! LINGUICA? SHUT YOUR MOUTH"
Now, I haven't eaten that shit they call Domino's in a while (I wanted to get something *good*). And I knew it was going on my credit card and everyone was going to pitch a third. Yea, pitch a third. That means that you are paying for at least half and getting some IOU's that aren't even worth collecting on.
For some reason, it would appear that Domino's has become deluded in much the same fashion as Denny's Restaurant. All of the deals that I had heard of (3 pizzas for $15 etc) seem gone. Domino's - and I shall stand to be corrected if necessary - charges almost the same as a good pizzeria now?? Starting, most saliently, with cost here's what I found just plain wrong about their pizza.
1. I paid $22 (incl $3 tip - we were going to try and kick him down some weed but he was a 44 year old Indian dude...) for two mediums and a 2 liter. Um, isn't that how much two GOOD (small) medium pizzas should cost? Is it me?
2. Of that cost was $1.50 delivery charge. I can't think of another pizzeria (even chain) that charges this? So basically, they make money off of their drivers because I know they pay those guys $6.75/hr (in CA). Deliver 10 pizzas and hour. Cha-ching. Nice.. cos you know a lot of people interpret the $1.50 as "the tip." No wonder Domino's drivers are always killing people.
3. They looked like they were handcrafted by a retard. They didn't even cut through the pizza all the way. Some of the slices were half "crust".
4. Why'd I put "crust" in quotes? Because their pizza is so "soft" (wtf up with that too? Do they steam their pizzas?)
5. The sparsest amount of toppings. The pep coverage was ok, but everything else was just so minimal.
What do you guys think about this place? I'm only posting this because of how much "Mmmm Domino's is
ing the goods" crap I had to listen to yesterday. Next time I don't care if I get outvoted or not, this isn't going down again. I anticipate judging from some of the tributes I've seen on CAG championing shit like Arby's Roast Beef Cheddar Jalapeno Sub there probably will be some staunch defenders of the place. Let's hear it.
