Dammit.. Domino's Pizza?

coltyhuxx

CAGiversary!
This Sunday, I got outvoted 2-1 in favor of getting Domino's Pizza. This was one of those "rainy outside-trapped-inside-I'm starving to death" votes/discussions where voices get raised and everyone is tense as hell. You've got what used to be a friend staring in your face with his (bad) hunger breath yelling at you, "Who the fuck gets linguicia and bell peppers?! You're so weird. What the hells wrong with you?! LINGUICA? SHUT YOUR MOUTH"

Now, I haven't eaten that shit they call Domino's in a while (I wanted to get something *good*). And I knew it was going on my credit card and everyone was going to pitch a third. Yea, pitch a third. That means that you are paying for at least half and getting some IOU's that aren't even worth collecting on.

For some reason, it would appear that Domino's has become deluded in much the same fashion as Denny's Restaurant. All of the deals that I had heard of (3 pizzas for $15 etc) seem gone. Domino's - and I shall stand to be corrected if necessary - charges almost the same as a good pizzeria now?? Starting, most saliently, with cost here's what I found just plain wrong about their pizza.

1. I paid $22 (incl $3 tip - we were going to try and kick him down some weed but he was a 44 year old Indian dude...) for two mediums and a 2 liter. Um, isn't that how much two GOOD (small) medium pizzas should cost? Is it me?
2. Of that cost was $1.50 delivery charge. I can't think of another pizzeria (even chain) that charges this? So basically, they make money off of their drivers because I know they pay those guys $6.75/hr (in CA). Deliver 10 pizzas and hour. Cha-ching. Nice.. cos you know a lot of people interpret the $1.50 as "the tip." No wonder Domino's drivers are always killing people.
3. They looked like they were handcrafted by a retard. They didn't even cut through the pizza all the way. Some of the slices were half "crust".
4. Why'd I put "crust" in quotes? Because their pizza is so "soft" (wtf up with that too? Do they steam their pizzas?)
5. The sparsest amount of toppings. The pep coverage was ok, but everything else was just so minimal.

What do you guys think about this place? I'm only posting this because of how much "Mmmm Domino's is fucking the goods" crap I had to listen to yesterday. Next time I don't care if I get outvoted or not, this isn't going down again. I anticipate judging from some of the tributes I've seen on CAG championing shit like Arby's Roast Beef Cheddar Jalapeno Sub there probably will be some staunch defenders of the place. Let's hear it.

When I lived in Florida I only had Big Apple Pizza and never have one of the other chain pizzas, now that I'm up north I still to Pizza Hut as it is around the corner, extremely reasonable in pricing and everytime my order has been correct and very hot.

Mine does 3 for 15 too, and I don't mind their pizza.

And ever since they started charging for delivery I don't tip more than a dollar.

I don't find their deals lacking, but domino's is my least favorite of the pizza chains. They don't cost less (like little caesar's), no pan pizza (like pizza hut) and no awesome garlic sauce (like papa john's). And I don't like the taste as much as the others.

Domino's is terrible IMO. There are a few local places here I generally hit, but in a pinch Papa John's isn't bad. Pizza Hut is pretty terrible too - their crust is just horrible, but better than Domino's.

Where I used to live there was just Dominos and Pizza Hut for the major chains and when I'd go somewhere that had a Sbarro's I'd get all excited about it. Seems hilarious to me now that I've had some decent pie.

fuck Domino's, from their ownership right down to their shitty food.

Of course, I live in an area populated by LaRosa's pizza joints, so fuck 'em all but that one.

10 an hour? That is one fucking fast pizza delivery.

maybe he means 10 pizzas an hour for the store, not just one driver.
Dominos is alright I guess, Gives me the burning farts though. Papa johns is probably my favorite delivery, as for favorite pizza, you will hate me but cicis. MMMMM large pepperoni MEGA TOP
no pan pizza (like pizza hut)
Your dominos doesn't have Ultimate Deep Dish? I figured that was at every store, it's on their website, so I didn't think it was regional. Hm.

I think a lot of it depends on who's working at the store as to what toppings show up on your pizza and how much. My dominos is filled with nice guys who load up my pizza the way it should be most of the time, and it's always cut properly, always hot. Pizza hut, however, is much more hit and miss in my experience. Either they cut your pizza into completely strange slices (half too thin, half way too huge), they completely screw up the order, they skimp on toppings you asked for extra of and double everything else, they forget half the order... Papa johns is also hit or miss lately, which is a shame as they used to be my favorite, but I'll randomly get a lovely standard pizza from them with everything I ordered, everything just right, then next time the crust will be soggy and/or flat and they forget to give me any sauces I ordered, or appear to have dropped the pizza on the ground before handing it to me.

The only local place I enjoy at all is Larosas, but again, have had some great experiences with them, and then they give me crap two times in a row, haven't ate there since. Plus, it was expensive, and they had a habit of forgetting my appetizer sampler thing. Which although expensive were amazing.

I've never been completely happy with most deals that all three places run-- My family's normal order is a large veggie pizza and a large 2-3 topping (typically ham, sausage, and extra cheese), or something like that. The only deal we ever find is always at least one topping short of what we want, like buy 1 specialty get a 1 topping free, or something similar. And all the little costs seem to add up too fast to keep up with, 2-3 dollars here and there for getting deep dish, a few bucks more for additional toppings, delivery fee (all three places charge them here and have for at least a year if not two, but I've known from the beginning that doesn't count towards their tip), tip... My family doesn't order pizza much anymore due to the cost. I don't know if it's just because we're just going broke, or if the deals are all just getting worse.

So yeah. It depends on your location, I guess. Where I used to live, the Pizza Hut and Papa Johns were the best. Now, where I moved, not so much.

Domino's is all but dead in my town. They used to be our (Pizza Hut's) main competitor, but now there is only one in the entire metro area. I had their pizza once many years ago, and even as a kid who would eat anything I thought it was lousy.

I don't even touch chains, except the for very rare case of Papa Murphy's and the even RARER case (note: twice in my life) of Papa John's. I get my $6 Large, 3topping pizza from a local place.
1.50 delivery charge? Screw that, and if I did want it, that 1.50 comes out of there tip.[/quot

yea, and how much of a tip do they get then? fifty cents? a whole dollar? it's really shitty that they do that. think about it. most people that are ordering dominos probably (correlatory) are the worst tippers too...

I usually tip 3 or 4 bucks as a gallon of gas is about 2.30 right now in most areas, yet i know it takes less than 1% of that gallon amount to reach my house. I might as well pick it up.

I haven't had a good pizza from any large pizza chian since 1993. It's all about locally owned places now. Pizza Hut's crust is like eating plain white bread, dominos is always gross, Papa John's used to be good but lately they've been giving me stale pizza's.

Who is paying $500 for these Bose Wave Radios? Now I see they are hawking a 3 disc changer that works with it for $250.

These can't be worth that much money, right?

I'm pretty lucky my local Domino's just opened up a few months ago and every pizza they send is perfect/shows up in 15-20 minutes.

You just have to ask for them by name.

They still have 5-5-5, 7-7-7 (large 1 toppings), Lucky 7 (I believe unlimited toppings on 2 medium pizza), 2 for Tuesday (buy 1 get 1 free) and a ton of other unadvertised crap.

My local Papa John's does this. From the pizza guys I've talked to, they get between .50-1.25 of the delivery fee. I usually just throw in an extra dollar or dollar 50 for a tip.

Where the hell do you people live where the pizza places are screwing up your orders so badly? I think I've only ever had 1 instance in which I didn't get the right pizza, and that was a while ago, at the local place my mom used to work. Papa John's, Pizza Hut, Domino's, they have never once botched one of my orders.

Once, I ordered a pizza and breadsticks from Pizza Hut... the breadsticks are supposed to be hard, with a bunch of that seasoning on the top. I like them, they are good.

Instead, my breadsticks came in the form of soft, uncooked dough with no seasonings whatsoever.

How the fuck does something like that get delivered??

screw dominoes you either go papa johns or if you live in the west coast try papa murphys ( take and bake) , or get some winco pizza. one day id like to try some real pizza though alot of the stuff you buy from pizza chains is ass. man i remember back when pizza hutt had really damn good pizza back when it was an event to go to pizza hutt and all they had was pepsi, pizza and centipede. oh yeah and those chalky candy balls. damn i miss the 80s.

My local Domino's never participates in the advertised offers like the 3 for $15 deal.

Since I read on slickdeals Papa John's has B1G1 free on all pizzas when ordering online and using the code PHILLY (it works all over the country), I have been getting 2 large 1 topping pizzas for $12.xx with tax. Much better than Domino's too. Plus since it's 16 slices, even if a few people are eating the pizza, there is always some extra that can be frozen and eaten later.

yeah locally my papajohns has alot of great deals if you want to have pizza for later. they usually have a 3 large 1 topping pizzas for 20 bucks deal year roudn and during the super bowl you can sometimes get 4 for 20 or 4 2 toppings for 30.

if it's going on your card then everyone else's opinion means nothing

i would just order what i wanted and then let them sort the rest out

If I've got to eat pizza (IE friend gathering) I'll go Papa John's.

However ever since I learned the truth about cheese I avoid that stuff as much as possible.

The delivery charge at dominos is a joke. The store gets the 1.50 and the driver gets nothing. Most customers think the driver is getting it so the driver gets less of a tip. I delivered for them part time a few years back, when they started the delivery charge and my tips went way down i quit. The driver has to pay for gas, car repairs, insurance etc and the store makes 1.50 for nothing??????? screw dominos!!!!

Domino's wouldn't pay you a gas/maintenance reimbursment of any sort? I suspect you really mean they wouldn't give you a cut of the delivery charge on top of your regular reimbursment. As a driver myself, I hate delivery charges period. I'm going to be reimbursed regardless when using my personal vehicle, and there are more subtle ways to pass that cost onto the customer rather than placing an arbitrary charge on top of the order. I made that suggestion at a recent company meeting. The response I got was, "All companies charge for delivery, so the customer expects to pay it. No point in getting rid of it now."

Little Caesars $5 per large pizza is what I usually get, it's not the best but it's damn good if you order it with extra sauce

at my university they have a dominos advertise $15 for one large pizza. that is fucking ridiculous. Luckily theres a Fazoli's place that can get me 3 slices for $3 which is more than good enough for a meal

I dislike dominos and pizzhut but being a college student and all, the 3 for $15 is rather nice. Papa Johns is always solid but just remember, dominos and pizzhut are not the worset out their as i unfortunetly learned.

the only time ill eat pizza when its not lil ceasers is pizza hit lunch buffets.... those rule!!!

yea and $5 pizzas at ceasers are awesome.. $2 for 2 crazy bread bags kick ass..

i also dont mind paying $10 for their supreme pizza as its pretty good

Doesn't anyone around here enjoy Cicis pizza? Best damn pizza buffet in the world.

For actually ordering pizza though, it has to be little ceaser's or Papa johns. I like dominos and pizza hut too, but that's just because I'm a whore for pizza.

Pizza Inn is like dipping napkins in cheese grease though. Dear god, stay the fuck away from Pizza Inn.

Cici's pizza is kind of shitty and made by immigrants, at least at the ones here. The only guy who can speak English is the guy at the cash register, no joke.

It's $6 for all you can eat, but still, it's more or less quantity over quality.

quality wise i think pizza huts buffets are awesome.. they got good salad too...

theres this other pizza buffet around here called bellantes(sp) that is pretty cheap and they have more variety of pizza plus they got some pasta..

beats having to wait till they restock the buffet at pizza hut

is there something wrong with immigrants??

I love this whole "I'm american, fuck you" attitude.

Cici's pizza isn't the greatest, but at $4.99 for all you can eat, they blow away just about every other buffet.

Never been to Cici's as there's not one near here... though they do like rubbing their commercial and their $5 in my face everyone once in a while.

Dominoes is terrible. Living in Chicago and my local one doesn't make chicago-style? Instead, I just choose my good ol' Beggars. Only local shops have good pizza, imo.
