Just figured that I would pass along this deal, as Capcom will not be releasing this game in the US (or Europe for that matter) anytime soon.

Monster Hunter Portable 3rd HD PS3 ¥2,480

This game is being sold by a Japanese shop called AmiAmi. I have been shopping with them for a few years (they are in my rotation of Import stores, along with Playasia & Yesasia). Once you order, you will receive a subsequent e-mail requesting the amout due through Paypal. They only accept PayPal for International Orders

More information regarding shipping costs can be found here

EMS (3-7 days) will cost ¥1,200 ($16.00); SAL (slower shipping option) will cost ¥380 ($5.00)

Yes, the game is entirely in Japanese, but online FAQs and the following Wiki below help out immensely:

The Monster Hunter Portable 3rd Wiki

For those who want English with their Monster Hunter Portable 3rd & have a modified PSP, I would recommend buying Monster Hunter Portable 3rd for the PSP, and then checking out the English patch here:

Team Maverick One

Most everything has been translated in English already for your Hunting pleasure.
Since the Monster Hunter Portable 3rd save file can be used back and forth between the PSP and the PS3, this just might be the way for better English understanding with the game. ;)

HOLY fuckING SHIT! the MONSTER HUNTER SERIES IS MY FAVORIE OF ALL TIME! I've been waiting for something like this. I don't speak a lick of Japanese.

Joe, Do you find flipping between the wiki and the game immensely frustrating? That's my only concern for the game. Other than that, i'll pick this one up in a heartbeat.

Also, Does anyone know if Monster Hunter will have a PS3 game (not a port) anytime soon?

THANKS FOR THE HEAD's UP OP!!!

Well, I haven't had any problems going back in forth between the wiki & the game as you wind up picking up the Japanese for specific items after a while. The English patch for the PSP version really helps as well. Team HGG worked on the English patch for the PSP version, but never fully completed it. Another group has recently picked up the ball so to speak though with the English translation. No patch for the PS3 version as of yet though. The language barrier shouldn't be that obtrusive IMHO.

The next two announced versions of Monster Hunter (Monster Hunter Tri G & Monster Hunter 4) are not for the PS3, but for the 3DS. This will be your one and only opportunity to get a PS3 MH fix for a while at least....

this is a upsetting news, I was hoping they would release this to the US states. Did the Wii ver not sell to well?

Tons of English speaking players in the world S2-50 at any time of the day basically.

S2-50 as posted on gamefaqs is where English speaking players meet up but lately I think it's been getting too full.

Hopefully people reading this will maybe start going to S2-51 if they see S2-50 getting a RED icon indicating it is too full.

This AmiAmi place also looks way cheaper than play-asia.com, definitely gonna start shopping here from now on.

Meh......i think i'll stick with the fully translated version on PSP. I think i can handle the wait for MH3DS (And this, if we somehow magically ever get it).

Still, no damn idea why Capcom didnt release 3 Portable here, i know it would have sold like crazy.
Did they prevent it from coming here?
Kinda sorta though not entirely. It was mentioned in a podcast that they would need to overhaul ad-hoc party in order for the actual multiplayer to work and sony america doesn't quite consider that a priority right now.

Updated original thread as the price has dropped to ¥2,480 from ¥3,350. With the cheap shipping option, you can this game for $38 shipped...

can anyone vouch for this site? definitely interested in Monster Hunter, but i have never heard of this import site.

also, how fast (or slow) is the $5 shipping option?

Definitely placing an order! Add me on PSN so we can play online, CAG! Let's get a hunting crew going on.

Darn, sold out! >_<
I hope it goes back in stock

shows in stock for me

Sony did technically stop this from being released here because they wanted Capcom to put some actual work into it and not just another Capcom cheap port money grab. Better online and trophies is to much work for Capcom so they're not doing it.

just sent the paypal. anybody else have experience with this site?

i chose SAL shipping (about $10) and grand total was $43.61

thanks OP, looking forward to playing this game

I've been buying my figures there. They're definitely legit.
I hope those ordering know some Japanese or you're going to have a rough time of it
Actually, that's very untrue when it comes to Monster Hunter. I don't know how to read or speak any Japanese but I imported Monster Hunter 2 for the PS2 and I was able to play it without any problem whatsoever. As long as you have a history of playing Monster Hunter you don't need to read anything - you'll recognize everything just by picture. And for anything you don't know, there are great Monster Hunter wikis that can assist you with that.

I really want to import this, but I'm holding on to that tiny thread of hope they release it here. But if it isn't announced soon I don't think I can wait.

Well yeah if you're familiar with the franchise it'll be easier, but I don't know if everyone is like you and I'm just making sure everyone ordering realizes it's all in Japanese since that is something someone could overlook while excitedly ordering this.

I know I personally would hate to play a game in a language I didn't understand, o go through various menus not having a clue, and having to rely on a Wiki to understand the game and translations, but that's just me.

So if I have played Monster Hunter since it first came out on PSP (played some of the one that came out for the PS2 but mostly watched), plus played some of Tri (around 80 hours)...would I have problems understanding the menus?

I know there are wikis but are the pictures that recognizable? I sorta stopped playing Tri about a year ago now so I'm a little fuzzy on the details.

I really want to play it on the PS3 and like some previously posted, there's an active community playing so it wouldn't just be me (or "us") playing.

I'm on the verge of buying but I need a little push to make me buy it...

Isn't it also due to SCEA preferring to release current-day retail games with trophy support? I heard there wasn't any trophy support in the HD port.

If you've played up to MH Unite you shouldn't have a problem understanding anything in the game as the menu structure is pretty much the same. What you'll need the wiki for is maybe the hot springs, which quests you need to progress and what you're up against, and for the felyne comrade system. Over time you'll begin recognizing a lot of the kanji for certain monsters/items/locations, and you'll rely less and less on the wiki.

I would bite on this, but I've already played a couple hundred hours of MHP3 on the PSP, so I don't see much of a reason to get it on the PS3 unless there's compatibility between the PS3 and PSP versions. i.e importing my save (missed the post about saves while typing this up XD) and being able to play with my friends on the PSP version (I doubt my friends are willing to import the PS3 version as well).

My copy arrived safely today with the cheapest shipping option. Will definitely check AmiAmi when importing in the future ... total was under $40 shipped!

Not sure if I am leaving sealed or ripping open ... currently 90% done with 3D Dot Game Heroes and pretty sure I am replaying boss kills only on Normal+ and From mode ... also about 45% done with Valkyria Chronicles and my aging brain can't keep track of where I am at in more than a couple of games at a time.
