Do you ever reuse "disposable" razors?

CAGiversary!
I just received several samples of Schick Xtreme 3. Well, actually, I saw a box of them that they were handing out so I just snatch a couple - er few - er...who the hell am I kidding, I'm a CAG, 6. Now, with the economy being in the dumps, I'm being super stingy. I do have my nice gillette Fusion(s), some i received through offers on this site (or gifts/sales/deals), but that needs new blades. I'm trying to hold off on either getting a new ones or blades, since even if I bought them from Sam's Club or Costco, they would be quite expensive. How long do you usually take your "disposable" razors. I'm sure the companies would like you to use them just once, but it seems like such a shame when the blade is still sharp/working.

(Re-)Use those things at your own risk, man. The more worn they get, the worse shave you'll get. Not to mention all the nicks and cuts that come with using a worn blade.

Every time I see someone use a disposable razor (even it it's brand new), they always have blood streaming down their faces and toilet tissue sticking to the cuts.

can't, my skin is too sensitive for me to do it unless I want nasty razor burn. Also can't use regular blades either, my face breaks out if I do. So I'm stuck using disposable razors and only use them once. Its sucks as it gets a bit expensive

I myself would reuse them quite a bit until it is getting uncomfortable to shave with. I try to only shave in the shower so I think that makes it a bit easier on my skin. I know that you could potentially get a bacterial infection from re-using razors though. If my wife would re-use her razors she would get a pea-sized hard bump under her skin that would be painful which she would have to cure with antibiotics. Nothing serious though, so I say go for it and try it out.

On the other hand, if you aren't a hair monster, you could probably spring for a nice electric razor and save yourself money in the long run.

Those expensive cartridges are designed to last weeks or even a couple of months. I use them probably way longer than they are made for since they seem to last a long time and i get less nicks and cuts when they're a little bit duller. Now if u mean the cheap ones that come in a bag, and are made out of crummy plastic, then those are made for 1 or 2 uses then the garbage.

As for the better cartridges though, I can't stand Schick....don't know why. I use the Gillette Mach 3's...best razors I've used so far.

I always reuse my 'disposable' razors. I have heard of women using them once (since they shave over a much larger area), but every guy I know uses them more. I use them until either I start to feel my shave isn't close enough or the shave isn't smooth (and it starts to hurt a bit), then into the garbage and grab a new one.

I shave in the shower to, and depending on the razor (and assuming I'm shaving daily), my razors can go anywhere from 1-2 weeks.

I've been using the same razor for ages. Most of the time I just use the clipper on a Braun grooming kit and buzz down to stubble, but shaving with that ancient razor has never given me any extra cuts or razorburn.

But that's a real razor though, one of those triple-blade ones that pivots. I never used a disposable one (like the Bic kind you'd get out of a hotel vending machine).

I dispose of disposable razors after one shave. That is, if I resort to their usage. Those bastards cut my face more than they remove hair. :whistle2:(

If I could grow enough facial hair, I'd wax off what grows. Unfortunately, letting it "grow out" makes me look like Snoopy's cousin Spike. So, I just shave it off with my trusty Schick Quattro. I change the blade set when ever shaving begins to irritate my skin.

Same here. Those cartridges last for a good long while before I need to replace them.

As for disposables I'll reuse them as long as the blade still cuts and it's not uncomfortable or irritates my skin.

I used a disposable last week, it was brand new and cut the hell out of me. It was some disposable 3 blade from Bic.

I use a Gilette Fusion and the blades on that last me quite awhile just because I don't have much facial hair to shave lol

Sometimes when the blades aren't sharp enough to slice through my scruff I'll take them out of the cartridge and cut my cock off.

Just kidding. I rock a beard now but when I shaved regularly I used a straight edge with a leather strop.

I was a Mach 3 man but moved on the to Fusion a couple years ago. You just can't get a smoother cock unless you want to spend lots of dough on waxes. Wait, what?

Of course I reuse my disposable razors. I also reuse napkins, band-aids, and condoms. I'm not made out of money, you know.

What? Y'all waste your money and create more environmental waste?

the hell's the matter with you? Buy an electric razor/trimmer.

I have a full beard. I can't shave because of skin problems (severe pseudofolliculitis barbae). My beard is so thick and the hairs themselves are so thick and tough that I wear out a Mach 3 blade after a couple of uses. But any other blade (especially an electric) rips me up royally. It's also hard/impossible for me to get a close shave. Because of these problems, it only serves to exacerbate my skin condition. It also becomes expensive to shave. So I have a full beard and only trim the length with a beard trimmer and trim the edges with a Mach 3. But I'm thinking about trying out a nice straight razor for that.

I have to agree that Mach 3 razors are the best I've encountered. I have incredibly course facial hair, and most razors are worthless. I can't stand Shick razors, the metal wires that run down the blades cause them to fill with hair and become ineffective.

Electric razors don't work either. By the time I'm presentably shaved my skin is irritated and broken out to all hell.

You just can't get the same closeness with an electric razor.

Some of us can grow proper beards though. ;)

I do want to try out a straight razor at some point though.

I use the Bic Comfort 3 disposables. I try to throw them out after a month of use, but I have one now going on 2 1/2 months. I've NEVER cut/nicked myself using the disposables and I shave 2-3x a week to 'look' clean for my job.

My parents got me an electric for my 25th birthday last year and I can't stand it. It's a 3 circular head one and never gets my chin or the area along my jaw just under my ear. Not worth it and it pulls hairs as well. Mach 3s are great, but you're paying way too much for their advertising for the cartridge refills. My fiance's brother swears by the vibrating four bladed one, but I'll stick with my disposables for about $10/yr of shaving.
