Does your wiimote speaker "crackle"?

zatos

CAGiversary!
My speaker is starting to bother me, I dont know if its bad or not. Sometimes it crackles, like the speaker wires are loose or something. I've only noticed this in Zelda TP though... it seems to do it more with short sounds and usually with the sword. Anybody else notice this or should I get a different one?

Mine did until I turned the volume down a few notches. It's still kind of bad quality, but it's better than not having a speaker on the controller.

I only find the crackle when I get too far from the wii. I think it is atleast partially related to signal strength between the controller and the Wii.

Mine did that every once in a while. I disabled the volume for the speaker a month ago because I found it more annoying than anything else, and I had completely forgotten about it:lol:

the sound quality of the speaker is fucking sheit mate. I've seen the thing taken apart online at IGN and if you look at the speaker its not really high quality, but i wasn't really expected Martin Logan or Definitive Technology.

Do you have anything nearby that might be creating radio interference?

I've never had any ongoing problems with my speaker, but it always gets crackly if my microwave is running.

Mine crackles sometimes too during Zelda, and when it would crackle it would always be whenever I would unlock a secret area, you know that sound.

Turn the volume of the speaker down. It defaults at the highest which crackles. Turning it down should alleviate most of it.

I turned my speaker off as well when playing Zelda because the rupee sounds really got on my nerves. I just realized that I never remembered to turn it back on when reading this thread. Guess that's why my batteries have lasted so long this time.

I turned the volume down on day one and haven't notice any crackle. I have to admit that I really like the speaker - especially on silly things like the "answer the phone" mini-game in Wario.
i keep mine turned off too!! that way i dont have to listen to those crappy noise and i also save battery!!!
Yeah, mine crackles, but only in Zelda TP. I don't really care.

My brothers dog hates the noises the wiimote makes.
I heard that speaker cost about 30 cents to make.

In both of the controllers I have, the speaker will cut out sometimes, crackle, or otherwise sound like turd.

Kinda disappointed in the Wiimote speakers myself. It wouldn't be as bad if some games didn't need them.

Rayman, for example. That mini-game where you listen to the pig squeal in the Wiimote was harder than hell to get through when you can't hear the correct path!

Is there an option to output the Wiimote's sounds through the main speakers? I use wireless headphones so would have a really hard time trying to hear the Wiimote.

This is the only time I've gotten something useful out of the speaker. Otherwise it is an annoyance.

I'm hoping future games find a non-trivial way of employing the Wiimote speaker (such as the Wario Ware phone game).

The only game I've been playing lately is TP and I get the crackling/ no sound cutouts. I tried lowering the volume but get the same thing. I play from about 6 ft from the TV.

When I was first playing Zelda back in November when I got the Wii, the speaker was quite loud and crackling. I did a search online which led me to find out that the sound could be lowered. I suggest using rechargeable batteries on any wireless controllers.
