Fallout 3 Vanilla + DLC vs. GOTY Version...

...okay, so Fallout 3 is one of my favorite PS3 games and I've always wanted to play the DLC but it never went on sale. Finally, I bought the GOTY version for $10 or so, even though I heard there were problems with it. I have yet to play it.

However, they finally price changed the Fallout 3 DLC on the store, so my question is, is the performance of the vanilla version + DLC better than the GOTY version? I don't mind spending the extra money if it's significantly better.

Now that i think about this , i would like to know this as well since i have both fallout 3 and fallout goty but havent played the goty yet. Same thing for Elder scrolls is it better to get vanilla then somehow find a cheap shivering isle expansion disc or does that vampire bug cripple the goty version.

Just save on a regular basis and use the GOTY edition. I didn't have that many glitches with it, but some have. There's no point in buying the DLC when you already have it.

From my understanding, the big issue with the GOTY disc edition was with people who were starting with playing the expansions (i.e. someone who already had the regular version, and bought the GOTY only to play the DLC).

The reason had to do with how the game installed the DLC while playing - supposedly it installs the DLC in the background while playing, which works fine for someone starting at the beginning, but for someone who bought the GOTY disc version just for the DLC, it was problematic.

The work around I read was to boot up the GOTY disc version, and let it sit (so it can install) for a long time before playing.

All of this is based on my reading on the subject when deciding to buy the regular of GOTY edition, which I have still yet to play.

Thanks for the input. I actually deleted my original save so I could start from the very beginning so hopefully that won't apply to me. I'll also let it sit for a couple of hours to make sure everything is installed. Thanks, you just saved me $25.
