I was at the bookstore today browsing and saw a book that was about 500 pages of cocktails with 3 or more a page and even more on the web.
I was wondering what everyones favorite cocktail is/was. I have only had a few cocktails (I mainly drink alcohol straight or on the rocks. I know that we have had a few drinking threads. But none about a specific cocktail. So lets have them and recipes if you don't mind.

I have yet to find the perfect cocktail.
I believe the few cooks here will have the best ones cause we (cooks) drink a lot.

I like mint juleps.
You should add your recipe and directions too. That would be cool.

Always a staple but who can pass up a good margarita?

Irish car bombs. For those who do not know what these are: 1 pint of guiness, one shot glass with 1/2 jamesons irish whiskey - 1/2 baileys irish cream. pour guiness into glass, make shot of jamesons and baileys, drop shot into glass of guiness and chug or else the mixture in the shot glass will curdle.

Its semi-complicated for non-cooks no offense.

Make a simple syrup with bruised mint leaves.
A simple syrup is 1/2 cups sugar with 1/4 cups water. Bring water to a boil then dissolve sugar in water and cool.
Add a 2 oz of bourbon to simple syrup and 1 oz of simple mint syrup garnish with mint leaves and crushed ice.

Wild Turkey and Coke, or Jack and Coke, or Jim and Coke, or Evan and Coke, or just any decent whiskey on the rocks will do.

Absinthe. Then you'll be a REAL man.

As far as girly-cocktails go, I've only tried an amaretto sour, and it was decent.

long island tea
jack & coke
i've been known to do an irish car bomb or 3
i don't like straight up jaeger (not big on the licorice flavor), but jaeger bombs are good

after that it's beer unless someone else is buying.

I am partial to tequila shots. When I have mixed drinks, I prefer a mojito. I also like vodka and limeade...

Usually though, I'm a tequila shot guy, with no flinching allowed...
AND SODA
Doing that to innocent Scotch is worse than a Kilty Monroe.

I've sworn off tequila shots due to the insane hangover and missing gaps of memory from the night before.

-Vodka Tonic (as long as it's NOT Absolut...that is horrible, well marketed, but not that great)
-Scotch
-Surfer on Acid (shot or drink) - Jaeger, Malibu and Pineapple Juice

Surfer on Acid's are really good.

Best cocktail ever.

Long Islands
Rum/Jack and Coke
Vodka Tonics
JagerBombs
Irish Carbombs (sometimes I can drink this...sometimes it makes me want to throw up...depends on the drinks I had before)

Or if I want to make it quick and get buzzed:

Glenlivets scotch straight up and a Newcastle Beer
Patron and tonic

jagerbombs, G&T (with bombay as ryandph said) and this is one me and my friend made up...

Slaughtered Porpus

1 part HPNOTIQ
1 part mango rum
a dash of 7 up
and a tiny tiny splash of grenadine

i swear its the bomb

Wow ! 2 recommendations.
My friends and I always have Jager in the freezer. We may have to give this a try when we hook up to watch the NBA Finals this weekend.

Is Absinthe legal in canada? I bought a bottle in Israel. E-x-c-e-l-l-e-n-t.

I'm a rum and coke guy.

Yes, they sell bottles for roughly $80. It's probably the most intense stuff I've ever drank, but I enjoyed it.

I bought a bottle for around $10 US. They sell alcohol for cheap as hell in Israel. :)

If you're drinking absinthe you're probably drinking something pretty different than what it actually was. The "original formula" was lost for a long time, until a chemist from New Orleans started experimenting with a vintage bottle and reconstructed the recipe for authenic stuff in the last year or so.

Nobody's mentioned the infamous dead baby shot?

Per shot, use 2 oz. vodka, 1 olive, 1 sugar cube

Tie the olive to the sugar cube with a piece of string, line up your shots with your friends (if you're drinking this alone, you're beyond salvation), and drop the sugarcubes and olives into the glasses. Whoevers olive/dead baby floats first buys the round.

The Hulk is pretty good. Mine usually ends up being 2/3 Hypnotiq to 1/3 Hennessey. I love Jack and Diet Coke, too, but neither of those are real "cocktails." Gin and tonic is tasty, but I only like it with a lot of lime in it.
