I dunno if this is exclusive to ordering from EA store or not, but...

Apparently Bioware rolled out a couple of free pieces of DLC via codes that are inserted with launch purchases of the game. (or you can buy them with points or psn monies for 7$ and 15$ ).

This is good for those of you who snatched up those Sims3 cards a while back for half price (so insane of a deal) and wanted to buy something that isn't L4D2 or ME2. It's kinda sweetening the deal since DAO has free shipping, no tax and pre-order DLC already (until november sumthing) and they recently put the Collector's edition back up for sale (which dissapeared for over a month after the sims deal).

Also note: If you already DID pre-order the regular, and you want collector, you CAN cancel your order (call their phone support because email support never replies) and spend the monies again on the CE which is only 15 bucks more.

EDIT: Better link, pix and info http://dragonage.bioware.com/addon/ Also, Vortextk seems to be correct, the 15$ DLC is free, and the Blood Armor is a freebie that's only available for new purchases (and will be usable in Mass Effect 2, which is an awsome wierd tie-in) The other DLC seems to be not free, but a 7 $ pickup only.

Sum of freebies if pre-ordering: Stone Prisoner DLC (15$), Blood Dragon Armor (free but awsome and works for 2 games), 2 pre-order trinkets the Memory Band(in-game exp boost) and Band of Fire (in-game Stat boost) Free shipping (doesn't specify cost for me on the site, probably 4$) Since i don't value pre-order and bonus stuff very high i'll just say they're worth a dollar total, All in all 20$ of free isn't so bad, especially when there's no tax.

TheStone Prisoner will be available to original purchasers of new copies of Dragon Age: Origins at no additional cost via a code* on an insert card in the retail version or as provided by the retailer for digital purchases. The Stone Prisoner can also be purchased separately for $15 on the PlayStation® Store, the PC via the in game menu or for 1200 points on Xbox LIVE® Marketplace.

Warden's Keep will be available for $7 on the PlayStation® Store, the PC via the in game menu or for 560 points on Xbox LIVE® Marketplace. It is also included with the purchase of the Digital Deluxe Edition via a code provided by retailers.

Blood Dragon ArmorDLC, a set of themed armor that will give players additional protection in combat. This DLC is available to players who purchase a new copy of Dragon Age: Origins (original or Collector's Edition) via a code* included with the game.

*One-time use code available with full retail purchase. Expires April 30, 2010.
It sounds like #1 and 3 will be with all retail versions and #2 is deluxe only. If you don't buy the game new, you have to hope the person didn't use the code(goodluck) or buy it later down the road online. Sneaky sneaky, but I have to say it's better than the game + 20$ of dlc at launch.

it gives incentive to buy a new copy yourself, and takes a chunk out of anyne who buys it used since they will more than likely not be able to get the added free content.

I was going to preoder anyway, this just sweetens the deal. Does GS currently have the best preorder deal?

Amazon has it for 56.99, - 10% when eca codes come back or you already have one, +10$ credit into your account for video game items after your game ships.

I was gonna wait on this one, but I think I might pick it up at launch. Amazon does seems like a good deal. And yes, you get "The Lion's Paws Boots" as a pre-order bonus at Amazon.

All this DLC crap is annoying...

Anyways, for those interested, this is in regards to the PC version ONLY...

If you buy-to-download (the more expensive) DAO - Deluxe Digital Edition from either Impulse or Direct2Drive, you will get The Stone Prisoner, Blood Dragon Armor DLC, and The Warden's Keep DLC for FREE (naturally, since you're basically paying for everything here).

If you buy any DAO Edition (Digital Regular or Deluxe) from digital retailers (instead of a store retailer), you can get an extra in-game item that has some sort of unique quality -- the Formari Memory Band. Just look at D2D and Impulse.

If you order any DAO Edition (Reg. or Deluxe) from D2D, you get the Formari Memory Band (mentioned above) AND you get another extra in-game item -- The Dalish Ring, which has some sort of unique quality.

Oh digital deluxe... Wait wait wait. A download only version can be considered deluxe? Wtf? So I guess #2 is ONLY free for that version? That...sucks.

This confirmed that I will wait for a greatest hits type of version that includes a lot of DLC for a cheaper price.

Although some DLC is annoying, from a designer pov the developers have a cut off date, so once that date passes they do all the packaging, shipping, etc and can't add any additional content to the original game.

Bioware actually is giving us more content without charging us for new customers...which is fine because I intend to buy it. Preodering it only guarentees that you'll get some trinkets in the game that you can do with or without...and granted the #2 DLC only comes with the digital deluxe, i'm not really missing anything since you get a bunch of other stuff at launch again for no additional charge.

I only wish more developers worked on improving their games after it launches in terms of fixing problems or adding additional content based on user feedback and/or something that breathes life back into a game that might be on your trade in list or collecting dust.

I gotta see which is better for me, I have some GS store credit I'd like to use but the amazon one is just spanky too.

That's correct.

So if you go buy Dragon Age: Collector's Edition - Retail Box Version for the PC from an actual retailer (Best Buy, GameStop, etc), you'll be missing The Warden's Keep DLC. You'll have to toss down another $7.00 to buy it to download, if you want it upon release.

Of course, those two in-games items from D2D and the one Impulse seem worthless to me.

I find this all to be silly. If I'm say throwing down good bucks for a CE Retail Box, it should come w/ EVERYTHING. Even if the Collector's Edition PC Retail Box costs say $60-70.

WOW, what a load of BS.

You're shit out of luck if you buy it May 1st onwards. So thanks EA, I'm not planning day one purchase on this. I plan to get this next year as my back log is already huge. I'll be buying used with a phat discount coupon.

It's good that EA finally added the preorder items to their online store. That was keeping me from buying Dragon Age from them before.

think i'll wait and see what the reviews are for the console anyways. this game seems like it will play like Neverwinter nights and I can't imagine not having a mouse and keyboard for that game.

this whole get this item for preordering here and that item for preordering there is just getting totally out of control...

I can understand giving something to someone for preordering but it should be the same item everywhere...

That made me chuckle a bit.

There's a reason why the codes expire, so ppl who bought it closer to release date get a bonus that those who bought it probably at a marked down price don't...and probably something to do with, them having to hold a miniscule amount of download data on their server or microsofts somewhere in which they probably need to pay someone to hold the content up to that date.

Besides Mass Effect 2 will probably be out by then...I'll be piss'd if there's a cut off date to use the dragon armor in Mass Effect 2 after seeing how ME1 dropped in price so significantly.

I used think I couldnt play any FPS on a console but playing the halo series and a lot of ODST, it's doable and fun enough. I still play TF2 on my pc though as well as Fallout 3. Some games just make more sense w/a mouse and keyboard, but I'll sacrifice some playability so I can jump into an online game with friends since most of them have laptops, macs, and cpus that can't handle next gen graphics.

Should be fine I think, there's plenty of FPSlashers out and Oblivion was an awesome game, this looks better.

It's marketing, when everyone just had a PC or Gamecube they didn't need to do it. Now you have PS3, 360, and Wii owners on top of PC owners. They're trying to cater to everyone...you can't please all the people all the time.

I suppose you can blame technology (for DLC), the economy, and the fickle.
