Has anyone had success with requesting something for in store pick up through gamestop's website? Seems like every time I do it they say it can't be found. I know this gamestop's PS2 games are all disk only and in a huge mess so I gotta figure the employees were just too lazy to find the game (I really can't blame them honestly). I figure I'll head in there tomorrow when I'm picking up Ni No and see if I can find this $16.99 copy of the Haunting Ground.

What about you? Have you ever had a positive experience with Gamestop's In-store pick up?

I've had more success than failures. It just depends on the specific item. Usually things that are really great deals I tend to get a cancellation because somebody probably got to it in store already. I'm probably 8 for 10 in my last requests, so not too bad.

I've used it numbers times (probably close to 30-40 times since it was available) and it's rarely failed on me.

It usually fails for me because the sold before I made the request (their stock only updates once a day in the morning). But I can see it happening with their bargain bin and disc only games, which probably get stolen and/or become disordered by customers.

I've been hunting Gamestops lately trying to find older PS2 and PSP titles. There inventory is a mess for older stuff. Several times the computer tells them they have a game but it's nowhere to be found. And I've watched them look all over the place. That doesn't mean the people at your Gamestop aren't lazy, but it's a definite possibility that their inventory is bad.

So if i get a email that is ready for store pickup (1/18). Is it true about only hold for 24 hours? They couldnt find it on sunday (1/19) and told me to call manager on Monday (today) and the manager claim that it was a customer hold but customer never pick it up and was sold last wednesday. I told the manager that doesnt make any sense since i did the online pickup on friday night.

The game was for metal gear solid the twin snakes. I got a feeling the manager lied and purchase it?

If I recall correctly, their policy is 48 hours actually for in store pick up requests.

And I think in your specific situation the person who fulfilled your request may have just been lazy and marked it instead of actually checking it, and the one they actually had was already put on hold by a customer that wasn't through a in-store request, so essentially they screwed up by saying they had a copy for you when they didn't actually since it was on hold for another customer already.

thanks.

I also did the same thing online for lord of the rings war in the north. They cancel it, but lucky i was in the area the following day and they found it in the back.

Is this really necessary? I'm planning on picking up two games tomorrow. I don't think they are that high in demand that it would need to reserve to pick-up.

Well, I've used it for...

1. Rayman Origins when it first hit $19.99.
2. Too Human the day everyone was buying it new because of the news.
3. Eternal Darkness and Pokemon Colosseum for the 75% off GC stuff.
4. A Gameboy Player for the 75% off GC stuff.

Went 4/4. Not a hug sample prize, but 3/4 of the things they held for me were pretty risky items.

It never hurts. Sometimes, their online inventory system is not accurate. It updates at 8AM (CST, I think) so the games might have sold by then and the system wouldn't show it until after that period.
Just got another. They couldn't find wild arms 3. This is shit
You should go to the store and look yourself. If you can find the games, then it's probably the employee being a lazy shit and you should file a complaint. If you can't then... I dunno.

Call me old fashioned (or maybe just demanding?), but I always just call and stay on the line to see if they can physically find a copy rather than rely on the on-line reservation system. If they tell me that they can't find it, I'll wait until the next day when the stock locator should be updated. If I see it still listed in stock and the GS isn't too far out of my way, I make a trip there myself to see if I can find it.

So I called the stores and was told they have one of the games they told me they didn't, and they already sold the other one today. fuck THEM

It really varies by the employees. I've had stores that are 100% when it comes to finding them, then there are stores that auto-decline all of the requests that come in.

Most recent example is I placed 3 in-store pickups for a single store at 6pm on a Tuesday night. Two minutes later, all 3 were kicked back as "Unable to locate". I go to the store an hour after the kickbacks and not only did I find all 3 items in perfect alphabetical order, they had multiples of two of the games. I asked the employee about it and he said they were too busy (in peak hours, ive never seen more than 4 people in this store) and only did a quick lookthrough. I asked "What kind of quick lookthrough doesnt involve the alphabet" and the employee didn't respond.

I would sit and just flood the store with fake instore pickups, but sadly if I dont tie it to my PUR account you have to input a CC#

If the game is easy to locate then they usually don't have a problem holding it for you. If it requires a bit of effort then the employees typically won't bother.
