Does GameStop still make you give your name, address, etc to them for trade ins? I remember trading into them 5 years ago and having to do that, but that store is now closed. I have an online account, but I wanted to know if I go to a new GameStop will make me give all that info before I trade in? Or is it now optional or not needed?

I didn't last time I traded there, but I also have a Rewards card. They still ask if you stole it and verify you are the owner and can sell it.

GS is far from my house, but close to my work. i have limited time to do this during the work week so I want to get in and out efficiently.

Minimum is your name, address, & phone number. Depending on local/state pawn laws any of the following may also be required:

Valid State ID to take down ID number
Fingerprint

if my local bestbuy/gamestop ever starts requiring fingerprints for trade in. I am done with trading in. I am just not comfortable providing my finger prints.

Yeah if you have a pro card all of that is generally on the account, even the free cards if you've logged into the site at least once.

Not their choice, local city/county pawn laws are the reason. Also some areas have to hold any trade for 30 days before it can be resold (not an issue w/BB but an issue for GS.)

Yeah, this. And it can vary dramatically within the same area. If I go to one side of town, I have to fill out a form stating where and when I bought the game originally and they hold stuff for 2 weeks. On the other side of town, there is no form, they don't check ID, and they can sell the trade-ins immediately. And while I say "town" these are really different suburbs in different counties but all part of the same metro area and just a few miles from each other.

And last time I traded at Best Buy in the less restrictive area they did the fingerprint, and picture, and scan of your ID. That seemed a bit excessive given that the nearby GS stores don't do anything. I think Best Buy is just doing it for the hell of it.
