Ghost Recon: AW Reviews & Discussion

I would say this seals the deal. It currently has a 94% on gamerankings, and I'm now all over this. Now if only I could find it tonight.
even though I don't care for IGN's reviews.
well, game informer gave it a 95%, and egm scored it 10, 9.5, & 9. So, we can be pretty sure that this game is gonna kick a whole lotta ass.

this is a game that sounds great on paper, but i've never been into slower paced stealth and/or strategy games. its hard to not pick up any game that is getting these types of glowing reviews, though.

i've never played the ghost recon series before either, so hopefully its not too slowpaced/hard on the noobs.

I'm counting on it. Can't wait!
time to head out to fry's to buy my copy of GR:AW for 48 bucks tomorrow
I'm doing the same tomorrow. :)
Is it me or is the 360 getting an unusually high percentage of great games?
It's True..... It's True

Is the PC version going to be the same game, or a dumbed down piece of shit? If it's the same thing, I'll definitely grab that... Oblivion and this will ensure that the PC is my greatest drain on productivity.

The essentials:

9.0 Presentation
The continuity and seamlessness of the missions creates an intensity and realism few gamers have seen before on consoles. Extremely well done.

9.0 Graphics
Top-notch everything -- character models, interactive environments, special effects and lighting. One of the few really impressive Xbox 360 games on the market.

8.5 Sound
Lots of audio talk, chattering Mexican AI, and then there's the sonic boom sniper rifle, oh my...

9.0 Gameplay
The rocking single-player campaign is out-done by the deep, customizable online game. Great controls, level design, and vehicle support -- all integrated to create cohesive gameplay.

9.5 Lasting Appeal
This is the first real online game to party over -- the co-op, offline or on, is worth the price of admission alone.

9.2 OVERALL
Outstanding
(out of 10 / not an average)
When are most people picking theirs up? Will it be readily available tomorrow at most stores like BB, EB, or Gamestop?
My local GameCrazy told me it'd be in first thing tomorrow. I went in there today to get it... I thought today was the 8th, for some reason.

I'm just surprised that so many reviews go on about 16 player co-op while the previous games had it and on more maps even. As a co-op fan that's the biggest downer for this game to me. Oh well, hopefully we'll get some downloadable content.
What happened to that demo that was supposed to be released?
I believe that they said mid March.

i was at gamestop and eb today...they told me graw and burnout will be in stores tmro....usually best buy is a day later in my area.

Gamestop, Fry's and EB tom. BB and other retailer Thurs or later.

Just to make sure I get one, I went and pre-ordered it today at GS and they handed me the faceplate for the Outfit. Score!!

looks like frys been pushed back to thurs =/. U know, i'm just gonna do the switcharoo and get it at EB tomorrow just in case HAHAHA i'm devious

The Wal Mart closest to me puts out DVD's for Tuesday exactly at midnight. I've never purchased a new game from them at midnight (Never really wanted to until now.) does anyone have experience getting normal non "event" games (Like Halo 2.) at midnight at Wal Mart?
Overnighted this from gamestop, but it still hasn't shipped, which sucks.
Same here; no email confirmation or anything. EB can sometimes ship an order without having updated their website, with these guys I have no clue what's going on?

There is really bad news about this IMHO. This game practically requires HDTV to read text and follow button commands/directions. I did a lot of trial and error to get some stuff right.

Fortunately I have a HDTV but not where I am today. If you're on a regular set just be aware the game is letterboxed like Ridge Racer 6 or King Kong.

That would suck, glad I don't have to deal with it.

Ok so I didn't like the first two ghost recons at all. The 2nd one was a little better than the 1st but it still didn't keep my attention much. On the other hand I absolutely loved Rainbow Six 3, and SWAT 3 isn't too bad either, so I don't think it was the squad based gameplay that turned me off.

I think it may have been the fighting in the open countryside that didn't seem too exciting to me. Now that it takes place mostly in a city I think that might alleviate that.

I had fully planned on buying Burnout Revenge 360 this week but after reading that review and seeing the screenshots (I actually thought one was a picture of a real city at first) I think I may have to get GRAW instead.

Edit- Ok, after watching this video http://www.gamerankings.com/itemrankings/launchreview.asp?reviewid=671559 on teamxbox, I'm fucking sold! I didn't even watch the full thing, just about 10 seconds. Holy fucking shit this game looks amazing. For god's sake, you can see the shadow of the helicopter blades on the soldier. I need this game now!

How's the online part of this game? Laggy? Smooth? How's the 16 player co-op? Anyone got some impressions of the online part of the game?

So far I have had better connections with this game than any other I have played so far. No disconnects or reconnects the entire time I was playing.
