HDTV for under $800 help a brother out

Well you can always go Vizio or Olivia 37 in that range and you might be able to get the Vizio 42 for that price. 32" Samsung and Sharp Aquos will be just right out side that range. However we are 5 weeks away from Black Friday and the Ads will be hitting the internet soon, I say just hold out and you will be able to find a steal on that day as long as you don't mind lining up.

my cousin recently got himself the vizio 37" LCD (749.00 @ costco) and I must say it looks good. He specifically got to play games. I got myself for my bedroom the Vizio 42" plasma for 899.00 @ costco.

I looked at a couple Olevias and it looks like they are held together with glue.

I've been thinking about Black Friday, but i'm usually shit faced drunk at 6am.

Anyone know of any % off sales right now?

My buddy just got a 37" Vizio and the picture is great, but the speakers sound like back of the truck crap. I'd rather not have to buy another surround system for my bedroom where this tv will be going.

Now you're getting picky. You're not really going to find a decent t.v. w/ good sound at a reasonable price after all you're getting the t.v. mainly for it's picture. Fry's has a Sony 5.1 component surround sound for 125.00 which is not bad for a first timer or a bedroom set up. I have a 3.1 setup in my bedroom (sony receiver, insignia L & R speakers, Harmon Kardon center & JBL sub)

I wouldn't say picky, but i'd rather not have it rattle if i turn up the volume a little.

And i'm going to have to look into Fry's for that Sony. Not a bad price at all for a complete system. I paid $400 for my Receiver with no speakers in the living room.

I have this exact TV and I LOVE it, really great picture for the price and all the inputs you'd need.[/quote]

I've actually had a Vizio TV blow up on me, the old 32" LCD. Though there was a buzzing sound for a big while before that, but I just ignored it. I'd buy another vizio, but since all the 1080P TVs were over 1K at the time, I just got a 28" monitor instead.

The vizio was great apart from some wired singnal loss (during complete white screen), wierd image retention (kind of like burn in even), and the blowing up. Speackers on the monitor might be crap, but the sheprex speakers I have sound good enough.
