How do you pronounce "Samus" ?

I did a search because I figured this is a question that would have been asked before and found it in the middle of a thread but only one person answered.
Is it pronounced "shame-us" like how Sean connery is pronounced "shawn" ?

Kind of related, when Street Fighter 2 came out I was like in 6th grade going into 7th and the world "guile" wasnt exactly a part of our vocabularies yet and some people had no idea how to say it calling him "gilly" and I remember one guy who just called him "The General"

I know there've been other games where characters had names I didn't know how to pronounce but I can't think of any at the moment, anyone got any good ones?

That's the way I've always pronounced it, and whether it's the right way or the wrong way, that's the way I'm going to keep saying it.

Wow I didn't expect anyone to recognize it. I've had it for a couple of years now, i left it in the sun one day and the poop in the back kind of melted and got all oozy and extra sticky... now the cow's butt is poo stained. How much do they go for? I got mine as a gift.

You actually inspired me to go check ebay and buy 4 those things! They should make some really cool little gifts for some friends.

Seamus is prononced that way (like Seamus Blackley, co-creator of the Xbox). I think Samus is Sam-us.

I say Sam - us.......but wouldn't the Japanese pronunciation be SAH- MOOSE?

"Sah-mus-uh" is how the japanese would pronounce it, but anyway, yeah. Sam-us is the generally accepted way, which isnt really all that different. Some say Same-us, probably due to the simularity to the name Shamus.

At least that's what my friend says. But he also thought she was a guy...
