How long before a second chance offer?

My auction for Destroy All Humans ended four days ago, and the winning bidder has yet to get back to me or pay me....when should I offer a second chance offer to the next person?

I did for my 360 auction within an hour after it ended.. The guy who won had 0 feedback and I said in my auction that ALL 0 feedback bidders HAVE to contact me before they bid.. He never did, didn't respond to messages within that hour, so I sold it to the next guy.

The thing is, the person who won my auction has 22 feedback but still has yet to contact me, so I just offered it up to the second winner and still no word.

Sucks, cause I got $40 for the sucker :(

You don't need to wait 7 days to do a second-chance offer. You can do it immediately.

Ebay ought to allow us to open Non-paying bid disputes immediately. ---- Or else cut the time to deal with these bozos. [7] days to open/1 day to close = [8] days == free relist on day 8 to someone who will actually pay us.

Mailed to my non-payer on day 6:
If you do not intend to purchase this game
please tell me now so
I can sell it to someone else.

P.S. Your decision may result in suspension from Ebay: 'When a buyer does not pay for an item the buyer has won or purchased, it costs the seller time and money. eBay’s Unpaid Item policy is necessary to enforce the contractual obligations entered into between buyer and seller.'

So I left bad feedback saying "Worst buyer on eBay. Didn't communicate or pay"

and I got this message:

"Hey, are you serious? Can you please explain to me how I can win an item on one day and the very next day I get a message from you stating...are you gonna pay? or you are going to relist it? Sent only 1 day after auction ended? I was called out of town on a family emergency and just got in last night. I go to pay for the item and this is the message I get?( There was nothing about immediate payment on your listing. This is not a very productive way of conducting business on ebay. I have an impeccable record with ebay and I am absolutley shocked by your message. As for relisting, there are steps that you are required to take once an auction has ended. You can let me know what your plans are and if they include relisting the item, feel free. I am not too sure I would like to continue to do business with you in this situation. Also, I will be contacting ebay customer service and discussing this with them.
Thanks,
"

What do I do now?

" am waiting for a response from ebay customer service, at that point Iwill contact you. However, I did just see the feedback that was left. Pretty harsh don't ya think? I understand ebay helper said to leave neg. feedback but I also know that they suggest you try to resolve the matter in other ways first. Also as far as the timing of the threat to relist, it was the very next day after the auction ended. I have the messages. No way you could have known I has an emergency...your right...that is why EBAY suggests resolving things because sometimes things do happen. As I said, I am waiting for a response from ebay, either myself or them will be in contact after that.
Thanks, "

So what do you think will happen?

EDIT: Also they gave me negative retalitory feedback. She better pay, or I hope eBay doesn't fuck me over. Funny how she has an "emergency" as soon as I leave bad feedback....

I generally wait 3 days (always list in my auction that winning bidder must contact me within 72 hours) before I attempt to contact the buyer for non-payment. You were definately hasty in asking for payment one day after the auction ended, but her not paying you 7 days after the auction ended is inexcusable. I probably would have waited for the full 7 days to pass before I left her a negative.

It is a little fishy that even though she got your initial email requesting payment, she decided to be incommunicado for an entire week. I'd bet she was trying to be problematic to get out of paying for your auction.

I wasn't even threatening her, this is what I said in that second email:

"Yo, just wondering if you're going to pay. Anyways, going to hold the item until Friday for you."

That's it. Does that sound like a threat?

Sounds like you did get a little hasty, but whatever. Just remember next time (and for all auctions hereafter), to ALWAYS put a pay by date in your auctions (i.e. payment must be recieved in 3 days, etc), that way you don't run into this again.

If you want, you can send a message offering to do a mutual feedback withdrawl if he pays today, that way you keep your feedback positive and you give him (her) a chance to complete the deal feedback unscathed.

Either way, good luck.

You only waited ONE day to contact the buyer? Bad move. Most buyers pay on days 2-3-4 not immediately. So we sellers should wait several days before sending an email. And negative feedback is the LAST thing you do after you've taken care of all the other crap. I typically wait 60 days to do FB.

[P.S. (1) There's the possibility the buyer's 'emergency' was a lie. You can't believe everything. One of my buyers said "my credit card is broke" and asked me to wait while he fixed it. Then on week 3 he said, "I have mailed you a ten dollar bill." I never received anything from the liar. He got a Strike. And eventually got kicked-off.

You can't believe non-paying bidders.
They'll say anything to get out of paying.

(2) Even though the buyer is unhappy, she/he still owes you money. Else she/he will earn a Non-Payer Strike & eventually get kicked off Ebay. Tell her: "I'm sorry for the misunderstanding & my comments to you. I apologize. But we're still bound by Legal Contract to finish this deal. Please remit payment. After you receive the game & you are satisfied then I will remove the negative feedback from your account. Thank you."]

Later AFTER she has paid &
AFTER she has the game in her hand &
AFTER everyone's happy ----- you can mutually agree to remove the negatives from both accounts.

If she turns out to be a non-payer or a PITA/bad buyer---- leave the negative there. She deserved it.

Nah. Ebay stays neutral. They will just say, "Contact your seller to resolve your issues" plus a copy of their Do Not Pay == Earn A Strike policy (to your buyer)

Just follow my last post/advice.

Alright thanks bro :). I sent them that exact message you told me so here's to hoping!

Is it possible to get my retalitory negative off of MY account gone?

Two ways:

(1) She doesn't respond to the Unpaid Item Dispute. Her negative automatically disappears.

(2) BOTH of you agree to remove the negatives via mutual feedback withdrawal. I wouldn't do this until January 1 or thereabouts.

Okay here's what she replied to the unpaid strike:

Yezs we are legally obligated to finish this transaction..one way or another. However, I no longer
feel good about this. I looked into it and we can do a mutual agreement transaction which meeans
that we both agree not to continue. I get no strikes and you get a final value fee credit. This
is something that you- the seller has to idicate to Ebay and then I respond that I agree. I would
like to do it this way. PLease let me know.'Thanks,

I said fuck that, I don't want mutual agreement i want my damn money so I said:

No I do not agree to that. Sorry but pay or strike. I don't see a mutual agreement as a reimburstment
for my time wasted or money lost.

Was I too harsh?

That's the process for how it follows, but if you're adamant on pay or strike, then the negatives will be a permanent stain on both accounts.

OP:

You pretty much screwed up the whole transaction by leaving a neg. Personally, if a seller left me a neg before I had the chance to pay, I would just forget about the purchase all together, unpaid strike be damned.

Buyers have 7 days to pay (based on ebays NPB system). I don't like it, but I know this going in and I accept it. I don't bother the buyer at all during the entire 7 days. If I don't hear from them, I automatically file an NPB dispute (still, without contacting the buyer). At this point, these laggers pretty much pay me everytime (they probably get scared since they are sent a message from ebay about their nonpayment, instead of hearing from me). I then ship the item IMMEDIATELY, instead of trying to play the "revenge" game and making them wait. Then I make sure that I block that user from my future listings.

If you need the money immediately, then stop bitching and next time list the item as a BIN with immediate payment required. Otherwise, have a little more patience than just 1-2 days...as a seller, you need to realize that the world doesn't revolve around your auctions. :)

Just my 2 cents.

I wanna give you a hug! Good for you! Buyers need to learn that Ebay is not a gambling casino where you bid for fun. It's a BUSINESS and we sellers don't want to waste our time (3 weeks!)* or money just because she "doesn't feel comfortable".

If you don't feel comfortable, don't bid. It's as simple as that. Don't change your mind later & waste MY time and MY money. That's Inconsiderate.

:applause:

* (3 weeks = 1 week of auction + 1 week of waiting + 1 week of dispute == 3 weeks wasted on these stupid _____ @%$*$)

No they won't. If the buyer does not pay, the negative is removed automatically. And/or if the buyer agrees to mutual FB removal, the negative is removed.

Just continue down this same path: Pay or Strike. I've done it and successfully removed 2 buyers from Ebay AND had my negatives removed.

Wrong. The only way the negative is removed is if they don't respond at all to the unpaid item notification, or if they are banned from ebay. If they do respond, the negative stays. So basically the only way is mutual since they did respond.

By they way, it takes more than 1 unpaid item strike to ban a buyer, so "you" didn't remove 2 buyers from ebay, it was a cumulative effect. From the sounds of some of you guys it seems like you think you give them one and the are gone.

True. But most buyers just ignore the dispute w/o response.

And I listed the 2nd option of mutual feedback.
BostonCollegeFan is in no way "stuck" with a negative.
He has a few options to get it removed.

Sorry. I simply meant I was the FINAL person to give a strike. I closed the deal & the buyer was instantly gone. (I couldn't even leave negative feedback.)

Had I not given these people a strike they'd still be on Ebay, still causing havoc & ruining Sellers' auctions. I feel pride that I was the 3rd or 4th person to Strike them & get them axed.

Well, I'm in a similar situation now, my psp auction (http://fixy.org/1372634) the winner (cassandra9974) thought it was a PS3 auction. Here's his email he sent me.

I DID NOT MEAN TO BUY THAT ITEM I THOUGHT IT WAS A PS3 PLEASE TAKE IT BACK I AM BEGGING U

I have already sent a 2nd chance offer to the next highest bidder.

Now my question...

Should I leave cassandra9974 a negative feedback for bidding on my item and not paying because he thought it was a ps3?

OR

Should I just email him saying how he thought it was a PS3 when it was clearly labeled and pictured as a Sony PSP?

How does Final Value Fee work with second chance offer? I had a winner flake out on me and I send a second chance offer to the next highest (hasnt bought yet)
