The teenager working part time who's on his first shift at the help desk likely won't care. That being said, I care. Please don't do this.

Well, I htink about it like this. the Wal-Mart is a high vloume super buys store. And I have returned stuff legitimately a few times and they really didn't seem to care. Plus they're a freakin trillion dollar company.

But if too many people start doing this, Wal-Mart will eventually pick up on it and force the reciept issue, which is bad news for a lot of us who have trouble hanging on to lots of little pieces of paper. Wal-Mart didn't get to be a trillion dollars company by letting people scam them.

NOPE!!!!

They changed their policy.

You MUST have a receipt for even an exchange now.

I price matched Chaos Legion for $5 at WalMart, then, in need of cash, I tried to return it at another WalMart, with no luck.

It still had the WalMart sticker on it, saying $29.99.

So I acted all upset, and asked if they'd at least exchange it for another game.
NO,.. I was told, by her and her manager.

There is a new policy in effect, that states you must have the original receipt,..no exceptions.

It may be YMMV, but I doubt it. I also beleive this is on software only.

I would suspect that that isin't a YMMV deal. It's seems to be commonplace here though. I remember when I worked at a game store next to the walmart and a lot of times people would come in from trying to return games to walmart because they were opened and couldn't. I would usually shrink wrap the games for them because I didn't want to take those games for trade in mainly because of the hassle. but they usually had the original receipt for it. After shrink wrapping it for them though it always seemed to work.

I know that at K-Mart you can ask for a gift receipt. You might be able to do the same at Wal-Mart.

I find giving out gift receipts to be sorta weird, if you're actually getting it for a gift it's a little odd to hand it to the person you're buying it for and go "and if you don't like it feel free to take it back!" And then they get there and find out what the original price was and find out how much of a cheap ass you really are.

But last time i returned something at Wal-Mart I didn't have a receipt and I was able to exchange it. That was about a year or so back though. It used to be you were allowed like 3 or 5 no receipt returns a year or something.

See that glow on the horizon? Yeah, that's not the Northern Lights, that's the CAG Flame Army coming for you.

If you intend to do something dishonest, don't post about it here and expect encouragement.

Ive always been able to do so, but not for a cash refund, they always give me a store credit... and only if I have my ID one me because they LIMIT the amount of times you can do this... so they dont get ripped off 8)

Instead of being an asshat and trying to steal from Walmart and then brag about it... keep the goddamn game, sell it on Ebay, trade it here, trade it in to EBgames.. whatever legal, moral choices you may have. I'd continue, but I'm tired.

I tried to return a game to Walmart(never opened but no receipt) because I had a friend who worked there and figured I could just exchange it or just get store credit.

Here are some rules:
Any game returns must be opened and inspected because people like you try to rewrap the games(some don't have the game inside).

Any opened returned game can only be exchanged for the same exact game.

If unopened and original receipt, then maybe you can get a different game(it was a gift, so this is what I was able to do with help). They open the game anyway.

If it's an old game that has not been in stock over a year, it can not be exchanged as it has fallen off the system and will not be added back.

I'm sure there's more, but that's what I learned my first and only attempt.

Are you sure? I'm pretty surprised that Wal-Mart wouldn't let you return an unopened game w/ the receipt for a full refund.

According to the return policy on walmart.com CDs, DVDs, and videogames can be returned within 90 days of purchase provided they are unopened.

Oh, and as far as the OP, why in the world would you ask on here about the ins and outs of return frauding Wal-Mart? Resealing an opened game and returning it as new is also a crappy thing to do.

Quit being a dick and stop scamming companies, even though Walmart = the devil, it is about doing the right thing regardless of the company.

I returned a Gameboy Advance SP that I purchased there. They called some special number to verify the serial number had been registered at their store, when it was sold. Sounds like they care to me.

Here's the deal with ripping stores off.

You aren't.

The store sells the game for what they choose to.
If it's $50, and they sell it, they'll make more than the other stores who sell it cheaper.

If no one buys,...say, Fatal Frame 2, for $50, it will sit on the shelf for a LONG time. Until they decide to mark it down.
By then, it may be considered rare, and it will not be considered a loss. As any drastic price drop, is supported by tax laws, which cover such profit losses.

Other stores, like Best Buy, clear out these games faster, because they are more likely to.
That's how CAG's were born. We found deals, in the most obscure stores, because of people who you think are scamming.

I think it's nice to find a brand new copy of Gauntlet Dark Legacy (GC), for $15 at KMart. Someone bought it for $30 before it became OOP/rare. Then, while KMart was still selling it for $50, they made their $20, and left KMart with a then, undesirable game.
Now, since the game truly sucks, and won't sell. It's been heavily discounted, and is still overlooked, until one clever CAG spots it.

While this hurts no one, it appears to be wrong.

I see it both ways, and have done similar things in the past. I don't boast about it, nor do I bash it.

It's just not a big deal, unless you have nothing better to do with your time but beotch! Feel free to flame though. With so much time on your hands, I'd figure you'd be trying to contribute to CheapyD's world.

Much love. 4ReaL!

Um when you get a game from a different store and try to pawn it off on Wal-Mart (for either a profit or just getting rid of a crappy game) you are ripping them off. You are adding to their inventory (and if it is a undesirable game then you make them lose money by marking down a game they should even have in their inventory).

I have re-read your post 4 times now and still have no idea what your post has to do with the topic at hand (taking games back to Wal-Mart when you didn't buy it there in the first place).

*rest of the idiocy snipped for my own sanity and the sake of the children*[/quote]

Congrats on posting one of the stupidest things I ever read. I believe your official title is "Idiot Wrapped In Moron."

It is stealing and you shouldn't do it. Just trade it in for store credit, sell, or trade it. Even if Walmart is a huge freaking monopoly.

Also it's funny how people are all talking about how I'm "ripping off" Wal-Mart when there are about 7 different topics on this section about Target Rain-Checks. Hypocrites. I just want to return a crappy game for different game and yous are all about "I rain checked this but didn't want it but I'm going to get another game for the same price." HYPOCRITES I TELL YOU! HYPOCRITES!!!!

You just want to give Wal-Mart a game neither of you want, and steal another game.

All that will happen is that they'll return it at cost. Same end result as selling it to another person. Now if you want to argue that any type of reselling is wrong, thats another story, but a pretty tough argument.
