Is it illegal to sell a modded PS2 system?

I bought a PS2 system with what appears to be a Swap Magic mod on it at a yard sale for a few bucks. There was no games or software included with it. I never planned to use it for modded games since I have no knowledge on how to do so. I've only used normal games on it.

I've tried putting this on eBay and Craigslist but they both got taken down. Wondering if there's no way I could sell this? I assumed it was legal because I was NOT including games. Just the system.

I'm pretty sure it's legal but considering the main uses for the mod, most places don't allow you to sell it through them. I think CAG bans the sale of mods like that too.

It is against their policy, but many people have been able to get around it through creative wording in the description, and not really using the words "modded" to sell the product, but sometimes there are people who fight against this type of stuff on eBay, and will report it even if it doesn't specifically note "modded" if they are able to catch on to the jargon used in the description.

Yeah in both places I did mention "Swap Magic mod". I reposted it on eBay after a couple weeks just saying it has a flip top and that it works, but I took it off because I didn't get much interest.

I may try Craigslist one more time, and just say flip top. We'll see.

I sold my Xbox 360 on Craigslist with the title, "Modded RGH 2.0 Xbox 360 With 250gb of Games". theres tons of modded consoles being sold in my area, Its just people being dicks and flagging on craigslist.

So people are dicks because they want to support an industry?

isn't selling a modded console WITH GAMES completely illegal?

don't put words in other people's mouths.

Yes, its illegal to sell modded systems, but you can get rid of it on ebay if you just don't list "modded system". People don't need to know the system is modded as long the system plays normally, i personally think you can leave off "magic mike mod chip "

Explain to me how I'm putting words in peoples mouths? The guy calls out people for being dicks for reporting on Craigslist, when he himself posted he sold a modded console with a hard drive loaded with games. Speaking for myself I would report any listing that included any type of listing that had any console with pre-loaded games like the listings posted on Craigslist.

Also, saying it's not illegal as long as you have the original game is just a cop out, let at least be real about things.
