Use a referral link when you register your new device. You get $30 credit for the app store, and the referrer also gets credit. You should click on a referral link with your meta account (computer or phone) before activating the headset.

I've taken down my referral link --it's a new year and some new owners probably could use some referrals. If you want to use my link send me a DM and I'll send it along.

Seeing as I just went through this process, here's exactly how it works. Ideally *before* you set up your new Quest 3 device click on that link from your phone or computer and make a new meta account. If you already made your account, that link will let you accept the referral.

When you setup your new headset you have to install the Meta Horizon's mobile app and link your Meta account to the headset. This will automatically connect your account and should immediately generate the credit.

If you already set up your device but didn't use a referral link, if you're within 7 days it's not too late! You can do a factory reset and then go through the activation process again and still get your $30

Factory reset: power off. Power on by holding volume down for a while while powering on. At the boot menu select factory reset (volume changes selection, power button selects).

Then login to https://secure.oculus.com
Go to "Devices" and select remove device

Now proceed through the setup process again.

Don't go through the first time setup process again until you clicked a referral link on your phone or computer to attach it to your meta account. You should have $$$ in your meta wallet at the end of device setup.

Thanks!

Thank you for considering my referral link!

As a heads up before you buy your first games: about 3-5 days after I activated my headset meta sent me a notification with a a WELCOME15 promo coupon that worked on Beat Saber. I now have a WELCOME25 promotion code for a different selection of 12 or so games (including Superhot and Pistol Whip). I assume this promotion is triggered for new users. So, you may want to hold off buying anything that is not on sale for the first few days to see if you get this offer, too.

Congrats to everyone who got in on the amazing Target deal --if you already activated it is not too late. You can do a device reset as I've described above. See you on the forums and in game :)

Can multiple people use this referral? How many credits do you get for each referral and what is a "credit"? Sorry I just got a Quest I'm going to set up tonight and I'm completely ignorant how this stuff works. If I can use your referral link when I set it up though I will.

Edit: Ok I signed up through your link and I will set up the headset later and hopefully we get the credit then. Thanks!

Thank you!

We will both wind up with $30 meta store credit to spend on any digital (app/game) purchase in their store. Digital purchases only though, so it does not work towards hardware/physical items. You'll see it under your wallet once you set up the device.

I'd recommend you don't buy anything until you check out the Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals (up to 40% off) sale and the reddit discount code mega thread. Plus you can make good use of the demos before you commit to buy. Oh, and I hear they have a very fair refund policy if you buy a game and don't like it as long as you haven't played it very long, though I have never used it personally.

FYI, if you find the fabric of the built in facial interface uncomfortable, I highly recommend this "official" silicone cover purchased direct from meta for only $9.

Thanks again!

I suppose I haven't bumped my thread in a bit. If you know me from around here and are thinking about a new Quest headset, please consider using my link prior to activation. Send me a DM if you have any questions. Thank you!

As you size up your holiday Quest 3/3s devices don't forget that you can use a referral link before activating the headset to get a limited time $60 wallet credit for use at the meta app store. If you're on the fence or have any questions send me a private conversation and I will do my best to answer whatever questions you have. Thanks!

Also: if you've already bought one as a gift and are waiting to open it, you might want to open it before the big gift day just to take care of initial software updates, downloading apps, and the all-important initial charge.

Happy holidays! If you've used my referral link but are having problems because you used it *after* activating, you can try the following. It's factory reset, remove headset from account, try again. This is only viable if it's within 7 days of activating the headset. Longer than that it's too late.

1. Factory reset (either by steps above or from the mobile app):
Click the menu button (three horizontal lines) on the middle right of the screen

Scroll down and click "Devices" (with your headset on).
Tap "Headset Settings" then "Advanced Settings." Now select "Factory Reset Device"

2.before activating again, remove your headset from your account:
On the web log in to https://secure.oculus.com

Use the menu and go to "Devices" and then remove device

3. You may or may not want to try my link again to make sure it's active on your account.

4. Go through setup again

Good luck, and happy Questing!
