...that I just sold on eBay(it had sold before the game got scratched- I hadn't sent the game because I was waiting for an e-check to clear). I know my PS2 did it because the scratches are in a circle, and the game was near-mint beforehand. The game works sometimes now, but other times it makes a weird scratching noise and freezes. All other games work on the PS2, though some of them also have the circular scratches. This happens with all PS2 games, not just the blue bottom ones or anything. I tried cleaning it with a cloth- same thing. What do I do?

ouch! it look like ur ps2's laser lens is too high and is scratching discs! get ur ps2 fixed!....well you can try to get the disc buffed at GC....or you can refund the buyer's money

Did you try doing a height adjustment on the laser? If not, it sounds like the PS2's self adjustment may have put the PS2's laser up too high.

If you haven't opened up your PS2 yet(which is when many people screw up their own PS2s by putting the laser up too high), you can try opening it and adjusting the white height wheel to lower the laser.

I had a couple which did this to my games, bought them used to mess with and ended up having the small shop I got them from resurface the discs it screwed up.

You need to go get the disc you sold resurfaced and stop using the PS2 you said screwed up the disc(s), since it's messed up.

Check YouTube, since there should be videos to show you how to do it, in the event you don't know how to do it.

Either way, hope you figure it out and good luck...

I got my disc buffed at Gamecrazy and I'd say it was worth the $2 (well I got the $5 card for 5 buffs). How did you described your disc/game? Like brand new or just no scratches on the disc? If you just put working disc, you should go for the buff and then test it out a few times - I think it would help you a lot if these are small scratches (although I had a hugeeee ring scratch on my game and the buff got it to work despite people saying it looks beyond fixable).

This happens to me, it leaves smudges on the edge of the discs leaving them unplayable in PS2, BUT the saqme games worked on PS3 that did not work on my PS2, maybe because, it has a stronger laser?

I know my one friends PS2 always left dusty marks on my PS1/PS2 discs. It's weird, but I guess from the force of the disc spinning, it attracted some of the dust from the inner components of the system and they stuck to the disc like a magnet.

There's alot to be said for opening up your PS2 and dusting it out manually every so often.
