My thoughts after trying out some Indie games as a lifelong AAA game consumer

Indie games are dope!!! You may leave now.

*Ahem*, now that we got that outta the way, let's see what games shifted my perspective. Also due note, that I will likely fall into the trap of AAA slop from time to time because even though my hype for most, or maybe all games is dead inside (that's not a bad thing!), some titles need to be trialed on Steam. Damn, what a helluva poor way to put it, lol!

First up, we have Severed Steel!

This one one of my very first indie titles I went out of the way to purchase. I wanted to explore what indie's had to offer, and I'm glad it was a great game to "break the ice" into the scene for me. To be completely honest, I haven't finished it yet and haven't played this one in a while, but it is a good game. I'm just spoiled for choice. Great slo-mo mechanic BTW, I love going slow!

The Precinct (Demo)!

What a surprisingly funny game! I didn't know I'd like using my brain for this demo, but it was felt very engaging & rewarding to play! It's also super fun IMO. Let's see, what did I like about it? Just about everything, honestly. I can't wait for it to release on PC!

Streets of Rage 4!

Now this game is what sold me whole-hardheartedly on Indie games. It's such a banger, I love just about everything about it, except for the characters movement speed. One knock against the game, while the dark atmosphere, flashy moves, & overall semi-mindless fun just knocks it out of the park. Great f-ing game! I need to play more of it soon (I still got that Steam-Library-Stare-Disease...)

Tactical Breach Wizards!

If I wasn't sold on indie games already like I mentioned, this game is my favorite indie title yet! I'm not going to lie, some of the dialogue goes over my head, but the ones that don't are super funny! This is the best strategy game I've played since I discovered Civilization V! It's going to make you retry over and over again, but it certainly doesn't feel punishing! The rewind feature is simply, *chefs kiss*. I love it.

Honerable Mention: Race the Sun!

I bought this title on GoG a month or two ago, and even though it's a bit too hard for my pea-sized brain, I had my dollar or two worth of fun with it. It's hard, yes, but for some of you masochists out there, it's gonna be a great title if you haven't tried it yet. It's different than what I expected, and I gave it a fair shot but you know how it is for us gamers -- not every game is going to click.

I have a small backlog of Indie titles I haven't mentioned yet, too! I own Wartales, Tactical Breach Wizards (added to this list now), Coromon, Sea of Stars, etc. etc. Turns out, I forgot I tried Sea of Stars, eh... not for me (so far). Let me know what you thought of this, if you read any of it. Indie games are super cool, that's my takeaway. They truly aren't afraid to innovate, try new stuff & they have real passion about what they're creating. Awesome stuff.

Don't be like I used to be years ago, dismissing and shitting on inide games because you're not informed on them. What a terrible outlook I used to have back then. GG's indie devs/publishers! Ya'll rock!

Solid list. I thought I played a lot of indie games but I've only played a few of these, lol.

Sea of Stars: I agree, didn't turn out to be my cup of tea either. I love JRPGs and I love the art style, so I really liked it at the surface, but I couldn't manage to get pulled into it.

Small world.. I've met or chatted online with some of these other developers. Actually used to know the Race The Sun guy from IRL gamedev events as we lived in the same city. Bit of an oddball - I ended up having to unfriend him on Facebook because he kept randomly trying to start political debates in the comments on my page all the time lmao

Yeah, trying to suck others into the hellhole that is politics is annoying. My IRL friend has a great philosophy that he shared with me, which is "No Politics, No Religion." He will outright cut people off if they start doing the usual song and dance about controversial topics. Good friend, he is.

That's an awesome list! Severed Steel looks like something I need to finally try. Do you think it's good for quick sessions, or is it more of a game for long dives?By the way, I'd like to recommend a good list of platforms I play on frequently. Here are https://kazinobonuslari.com/ the best services and support, bonuses, and great prizes. I really enjoy playing, especially when I withdraw the reward to the card!))

Yes, the list of games is really great. And as practice shows, those who speak badly of indie games have not played them, or have played very few and unsuccessful projects. It is not uncommon for an indie game to be inferior in terms of graphics, but better than AAA games in all other mechanics and plot.
