I have this ticket in the mail saying double parking violation. So i searched the ticket number on the internet. We never gotten the ticket in hand. The ticket says that the driver left. They got the right plate number, right color, but the thing is that my dad never drive around 6pm in that location. the time offense says at 6:00 PM. the body type says SUBN. Whcih I guess it means Suburban. So im not so sure. Isnt it a minivan? I'm going tomorrow in person to talk them out of it. What do you guys suggest? What should i tell them?

I believe there isn't a specific body type classification for a minivan in the NY DMV. It falls under wagon which would be a SUBN. If you check your registration, it would say what it is classified under.

If you want to try and fight the ticket, you can go to http://www.parkingticket.com/ and give it a shot.

If they're anything like DC, good luck. My Uncle, who lives in Western MD about 2-3 hours from the city, got a ticket from a red light camera in DC mailed to him. Thing is he was at home 2-3 hours from DC the day that picture was taken and the vehicle in the picture was a completely different make/model/color from his. He called them up thinking it would be simple to fix and the lady he talked to said something like "Oh there's a lot of hoops involved and it's very hard to get rid of one of these after it's issued. You're better off just paying it so it will go away." He ultimately had to get his state senator involved to have it wiped. Absolutely ridiculous.

So just a heads up that you might have to deal with some pretty non-flexible people.

I got a ticket for NY once in the mail...The funnt thing is, I've never been to NY. 6 weeks, 3 phone calls, 2 trips to the website and 4 emails later, everything fixed. Turns out the cop transposed the License plate number.

What are the chances that there are 2 Dark Blue Chevy Trailblazers with Pa tags almost identical, save for the last 2 digits? I'm glad this wasn't involved in any drive by's.

Freaky!

Similar thing happened to me. Got a letter in the mail saying I still having payed my parking ticket a while ago. Was like WTF? I only park in private parking lots, so why the hell would I have gotten a parking ticket. Look up the information and they have my license plate #, make and model of my car, but the wrong color (mines a burgundy color and they had white on the ticket). Called (and sat on hold for 2 hours :bomb: ) to issue a dispute. They did their "investigation" and said I was cleared because the VIN #'s didn't match. Was kinda scary but semi-easy to fix. Sounds like it's hell out in NY though. Good luck with that.

I had a similar problem before with the ticket stating the vehicle was gray and my car is actually pearl silver, and I fought the ticket following NYCdriving.com 's advise but instead of taking the discounted ticket letter, I took it all the way to the judge and the judge's statement was that it's too minor of a mistake to dismiss the ticket. Although the color of the vehicle is a required element and any mistake or missing info can be disputed it's all subjective to the judge. Should have took the discount.

Also I had once the police wrote the wrong time on the ticket, instead of 8pm she wrote am, or maybe the person entering the ticket into the pc entered it wrong, cuz her hand writing was very bad. So i disputed that my car was in the garage at that time and I was at work with prove. But the same thing happened the judge sided with the ticket and claimed it was too minor of a mistake. One thing I learn is to follow NYCDriving.com's advise and take the discount and forget waiting for the judge, cuz they always side with the ticket. check them out they are very informational:
