Pink DS is out; looks like crap

We found the pink limited edition Nintendogs DS at Toys R Us today but be aware: It doesn't look anything like it does in the pictures.

The buttons, stylus and back of the DS is black, not white and it's not pearly pink at all, it's a weird maroon, salmon pink mix. Pretty ugly.
 
Why didn't they use the same one that Japan already has? Oh, well, I don't like pink anyways, but I can tell you do!

It was a deal; it's the nintendogs bundle deal. 149.99 for the DS and a limited edition Nintendogs game. They come in Pink and Teal. The pictures Nintendo's been releasing look nothing like the actual item tho.
 
Well, it's not HORRIBLY ugly but it does look pretty different from the early shots I saw of the thing. It's a LOT darker and definitely not Pearl Pink like toys R Us.com was saying. I really would have liked the white buttons too.
 
Hmm. I hope the teal ends up being darker then, I would love a cool icy blue DS (not digging the darker one) like the SP.

In fact, if they matched, that would be godly.
 
I was in Wales last week, and the Toys R Us in Cardiff showed the "Japanese" Pearl Pink system in the Nintendogs bundle mockup box. Whitish buttons, and I believe a white or pink bottom. I wonder if they just used stock pictures, or if those really are the colors that Europe will get for their pink bundle?
 
Lavender, maybe? I suppose Nintendo thinks that male gamers will be less embarrassed playing a sorta-pink DS as opposed to a very-pink one. I'm pretty sure I'd lose what little manhood I have with either one.
 
That shit is tough, I don't know what you all are talking about. I'll probably get it when the DS gets real cheap.

i assumed people just wanted pics of the DS itself. i didn't bother taking pics of the "best friends" version of nintendogs, or the screen cleaner, or the skin... if anyone wants pics of that stuff, lemme know.

i'm pretty happy with the color. it's different enough from the silver to stand out, but not be too gaudy.
 
nice pics. but apparently nintendo has no desire to kill the kiddie image. these things look more and more like a toy with every release. just give us black at a normal price nintendo!

i didn't even take the skin off the paper it comes on, and i don't plan to, so i couldn't really take a picture of it in action. but the box shows what it looks like. it's mostly all clear, with translucent paw prints for inside the DS and the logo and puppy for the outside, similar to the japanese DS carrying cases. i saw another pic posted online of the skin actually applied to the teal DS (couldn't find it to repost here) and it almost looked like it didn't quite fit. or it was just applied badly. in any event, the skin (i feel) really isn't the reason to be buying this bundle.

as for the screen cleaner, it's huge. much bigger than i was expecting. nothing at all like the tiny thing that came with ebgames pre-orders. it's even bigger than the cleaners that come with japanese plushes. it's also stuffed really well, so it's really thick and suprisingly firm. more like a little paw pillow than a cleaner.
 
I currently got the pink system this weekend.. agree it looks like shit...

I might exchange it for the teal one instead...
 
Hmm, I wish I had that paw cleaner then. Sounds like a good quality one.

I never understood why Nintendo never sells the items/accessories in the US that people actually want (paw cleaners, Nintendogs stuffed animals, stylus pen holders, etc...)

I'm tired of having to import from Japan, as much as I love them.
 
hey guys... just a quick apology about my lack of images...

i posted them on my personal site, and i'm having some domain issues at the moment... seems they never got my renewal request that i sent out a whole month early... it's a bit of a mess right now

but the images should be back online within the next few days here. then you can see the paw in all it's glory!
 
Weird. I still haven't seen the new U.S. pink model. Here's a real pic of the Japanese pink DS I bought for my wife for comparison (opposed to a Nintendo press photo).

the JAP Pink looks way nicer than the US pink... I just exchanged my pink in yesterday fro a teal...

I'm much happier with the teal...

the US pink looks like well kinda.. bland... totally not whatchu expect from the boxes art..

The teal on the other hand looks more like a sparkly light blue color...

both US boxes art is kinda misleading... but teal is overall better looking color!!!
 
So how many people bought the pink ds bundle and are now selling them on ebay for $230? I'm looking for one now and seems like that's the only option. No way I'm spending that much on it though.
 
yeah... prices on both bundles have been crazy, especially since online christmas shopping is in full force right now...

i always thought these nintendogs bundles would end up being expensive down the road. i figured they'd be off the shelves before the mario kart one hit, and that shipped to stores today. i knew nintendo wouldn't really put multiple bundles out for the holidays. but then people kept saying that the multiple bundle idea was a good move, which i agree, it is... so i started believing that maybe nintendo was in fact going to have several bundles... and wouldn't ya know, now the nintendogs ones are hard to find. figures...

i picked up my teal one, thankfully, and got all the special crap that comes with the bundle... screen cleaner, skin, best friends version... so now my plan is to get the pink one used if i ever see it. if not, it won't kill me. i don't really need it, just would be nice to have.
