I'm using the basic RCA composite video (yellow) and stereo plugs (white/red) and for some reason the audio is reversed.. sounds that should come from my left are coming from my right, and that's really gay.

Is this a known issue? My speakers are set up correctly, I've tested each channel with a THX Audio test and it works fine, but on the PS2 it just really sucks. Any thoughts?

That will never work. You need to open up your ps2, and reverse the connectors for the audio. Just get a fine tip soldering iron.

Yeah.. I was thinking about that.. but I've got it connected correctly, so why should I have to do that? I mean... white for left, red for right... still, WTF...

Haha. There's no way in hell I'm going to do that.

Not really, but I notice it the most in Maximo: Ghosts to Glory (those fireball shooting dragon heads in the underworld really stand out when you see them on the left and hear them on the right) and Jak II.

Well, clearly it's not correct if you have the sound coming out of the wrong speakers.

This is interesting. I just noticed that my girlfriend accidentally turned off surround sound on my receiver, so it was basically playing simple stereo sound. Now that I have SS with pro logic back on, sound is better. Odd...

I had a problem similar to that before I set up my sound system for games, when I was playing games through *gasp* TV sound. My TV has a setting for simulated surround sound (Incredible Stereo) - it would reverse the channels for video games. Once I turned it off and left it to basic stereo it was fine.

Never noticed it until I was playing SFA3 on Dreamcast one day.

Seems like a lot of the "features" on my TV make things worse for video games. I turned off my Noise Reduction (used for cancelling static in your reception) cos it was like turning the sharpness all the way down for games.

The only thing I keep turned on is the auto-contrast, since the Xbox broadcasts a lot lighter than the others, it keeps black and white colors the same across the systems without me re-adjusting it.

I was going to suggest ordering a custom cable with colors reversed so you could get the sound correct while remaining aesthetically correct, too.
