PS2 Diablo type games?

If you mean Hack and Slash:

Angel of Darkness
Baulders Gate 1 & 2
XMen Legends
Bards Tale
Gauntlet Dark Legacy
Gauntlet Seven Sorrows
Diablo 1, which is PS1, but'll still work.
Shining Force Neo is a bit like Diablo + Zelda
Then theres the Dynast/Samurai Warriors games.
 
The Snowblind engine games are the safest bet (Balder's Gate: Dark Alliance 1 & 2, Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel, Champions of Norath, etc.) as they're practically exact clones of that style of gameplay. The control is better in some ways.

I *HATED* X-Men Legends-thought the gameplay was completely spastic (and the graphics stunk too).
 
Baldur's Gate is the best overall. The graphics are weaker than the Champion games but at least there's a story thus a reason to keep slashing away in the "dungeons". Even with 2 player it still feels like a chore I stopped midway in Returns to Arms and said to my friend why are we playing this?

Hated the x-men legend games myself. The gameplay was to go through each room and pretty much rush towards the enemy using your mutant powers. Then it was a battle to duke it out and see who could kill who faster. My friend bought Marvel Ultimate Alliance for the 360 and I had to try it, thinking maybe they added enough to make it feel different but I was wrong. It does seem like they made the super heroes stronger this time and the environments had more variety so it wasn't as bad.
 
That's what I was scared of with Marvel: UA. I've been very tempted, but figured I'd hate it too.

I did buy X-Men Legends 2 for the PSP 'cause it was $10. For that price I'll take the risk (hey, in THEORY a dungeon hack by a company like Raven featuring the X-Men SOUNDS good...)
