hi,
I must just be missing something really obvious. My ps2 memory card is full of savegames. Every new game I try to play says 'no room for save file on memory card'. Ok, I get it. I need to delete some savegames to free up some space. I tried to fire up the ps2 w/o a game loaded, hoping I would see a memory management screen similar to the gamecube so that I could delete some files and free up some space. No dice. Tried firing up the game that has the most savegames on the card (Godhand) thinking I could delete some savedgames from within the game itself. Nope that doesn't work either.
How can I free some space up on my memory card? Help.

turn the system on without a game in it, click on "browser", next screen click the memory card icon. after it loads, scroll through and select what game icon saves you don't want, click on it, select delete, confirm by clicking again, and it'll delete.

Whenever I needed to I just loaded up the system without a game in it. It should allow you to choose any memory cards that are inserted in the system, it shouldn't matter if it's off brand because I had one of those too and I've done it that way. Maybe you just have to give it a little time to load.

ahh, thanks I'll try that. I guess when I saw the choice 'browser' I kept thinking it meant browsing the internet.

I thought the same thing the first time I saw "browser", but yes, that is how you "browse" a memory card and copy or delete files on it. Just a dumb choice of words by Sony.
