PSP dead pixels

Borat

CAGiversary!
Anyone out there who works in retail know how Sony is doing now with the dead pixels? Are you guys still seeing a lot of returns? I really would like to pick one up, but I'm not going through what I went through before.....ie. 6-7 dead/stuck pixels only to exchange it for one with 4 or 5. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have a 1.5 version with no dead pixels for sale...Its had protective film over the screen since day 1...Have games/movies/512MB/case....etc. PM me if you're interested.

mine has 2 DP after 2 returns... this was last month... both DP is on the edge of the screen... it sucks.. both don't bother meeh... while playing...

I said I was never goin to get a PSP agian... Wrong! got it for the few upcoming RPG set to release this month...

trust me I seen worsts... My brother 1st PSP had over 10 DP + a few stuck pixel... good thing he returned it 20 mins after he got it at walmart... my GF kid brother got 1 with about 5 in the middle of the screen... kid didn't even know it... but he doesn't care..

TO say the least I seen only 1 or 2 psp outta say 20 or so... that are DP free...

if you get 1 or 2 on the side.. it's a decent I would say...

Buy it from Wal-mart and if you find a dead pixel they will let you exchange it for another.
Sony is currently letting people return their psps to be fixed but ive heard it can take a while for that to happon.*Edit * dead pixels are kindve rare in my opinion. Only the people that have them are the ones coming foreward. I have one but it is on the bottom of the screen and I can only see it on a black screen.

do you guys think the newer psp's dont have dead pixels (or less at least the the launch ones)?

like if i bought a giga bundled PSP, would it probably have no dead pixels?

Are you drunk?
white pixels are dead and grey ones are stuck?
Black pixels are dead (meaning they will never light up), and stuck pixels are stuck with a single color always illuminated. They won't turn off even when they are supposed to, but are no where near as annoying as dead pixels because they still partially function. I have a blue stuck pixel on my psp and I can only see it when the screen should be black.

If Sony knew how to manufacture LCD screens without ever having a dead pixel they would dominate the LCD market, but they don't, nobody does.

No matter what kind of LCD screen you buy there will be an equal chance (depending on number of pixels) that it will have at least one dead pixel.

That kinda problen is normal in LCD screens.

I got one last week and it has one stuck pixel off in the corner of the screen.

I guess I'm satisfied. All of my friends have at least one stuck/dead pixel and they're all telling me to stop being so anal....I'm going to take their word for it. SOCOM makes it worth the trouble.

As I recall, theres supposed to be an image you can display on your PSP that fixes stuck pixels. I don't know if it works, but it cant hurt to try.

its a video of alternating colors, to coax the stuck pixel transitor into firing again. i have heard its hard on your screen, it is flexing the rest of the screen by doing so.

me and my freind got our psp just after launch with no problems, they are the only psp's i have seen in the wild around me.

With stuck pixels give it a month of usage. Most likely they will go away. If you still have them after that, call Sony. They will replace it.

Stuck pixels can be any color: Red, Blue, Green, White, Red/Green, Blue/Red, etc...

White pixel on a black screen means all colors are stuck on.
Red pixel on a black screen means only read is stuck on.
Blue...
Green...
...
...
...

Dead pixels are black on a white screen. Not even Jesus will bring back a dead pixel.

I have 2 stuck blue pixel and it came from the new giga value pack. Only notice it when the screen is black. Not really that bad. There very tiny thought they would be bigger.

So you can actuallly fix a stuck pixel just by playing? Would sony replace it if you don't have a receipt?

Call them, but I don't think so.

Not sure where you can get it, but Alexmae's pixel fixer works great on non-white stuck pixels. It selects one single pixel and flashes it over and over. Fixed a few of my red ones within two hours.

I just got a new psp from gamerush and it has 9 stuck pixels and the battery is defective (it was also an open box that they were selling as new) So I'll probably take it back and get a refund. Does anyone know if gamerush carries or will carry the giga packs?

In all honestly, I can't believe so many of you have PSPs with dead pixels. I heard the problem was as common as 1 in 4, but it seems worse going by what some of you are saying.

And yes, my brother's PSP has 4 dead pixels and 2 red stuck pixels. I believe Sony might decide to replace/fix yours and if they do, you'll get a PSP without dead pixels at least. But Sony's customer service isn't exactly the best...

you wont see the giga packs anymore. if you dont see them, they're gone. gigapacks were limited time only.

anyways i'm lucky enough to have 1 grey stuck pixel in the very top right corner. very unnoticable.

Stuck pixels are much too common on the PSP.

I went through 3 or 4 (can't remember now) before just giving up (they all had stuck pixels) and deciding that if they don't go away that in 11 months I can call Sony or use my EB Warranty.

Took the one back that wouldn't charge and had 9 stuck pixels and got a new one that only has like 4, but at least it charges. I couldn't even play the two games I had on the other one because I couldn't update the system without having a decent battery charge.

I took the bad psp back to the gamerush store that I orginally bought it, but it was apparently the last new psp they had so they called another store and sent me over there to exchange it for another one. The guy at that gamerush shot me a line of bull shit saying that I had to talk to sony about it and that they weren't responsible for "bad screens or bad batteries" He even had the nerve or recommending that I buy a new battery from there store for the broken one. After some serious bitching, he finally gave me a new one.

Is this stupid return policy gamerush-wide or just some penny pinching district manager? Wouldn't places like best buy, eb, or target taken it back without a problem? (I returned it the day after I bought it and it was Christmas, but that didn't help my cause...)

I know target takes stuff back hassle free. I should know I've done it.

I also have have a psp with 4 stuck or dead pixels. Can't tell when I'm playing though.

though I didn't notice any at first, I believe I have 2 on mine. doesn't bother me too much, since they only showed up when I was searching on Google.com via the PSP, 2 small black squares.

I have one white one close to center. Does that mean I am screwed. THe pixel fixer will not work?

Will it go away?

Will sony fix it? Only one of them.

I have one stuck pixel at green... i don't feel quite as bad since I hear others have it much worse then me.

But it's unacceptable, especially considering we're paying $250 for this hardware.
